BAROQUE BUTTERFLIES…

I have missed Keesh’s Inkspiration Challenges the last few weeks, so since I had a “little” bit of time I wanted to have a play.  Keesh set a sketch challenge this week and this is it.

I teamed my 2 most favourite Stampin’ Up! stamp sets together.  How could you go too wrong!  I have seen a few versions of ‘Baroque Motifs’ and ‘Great Friend’ together recently.  Here is my card.

Just a close up of the butterfly bling!!

I stamped the Baroque swirl on Whisper White in Baja Breeze ink.  I then stamped the swirl again on the small squares of Whisper White in So Saffron.  I matted these small squares on So Saffron squares.  I sponged around the edges of each too. I adhered a piece of Urban Garden DSP onto Baja Breeze card base and then adhered all the Baroque squares onto this.  To create the 3 butterflies I stamped the butterfly from ‘Great Friend’ first in So Saffron and the Rock and Rolled in Baja Breeze.  I cut them out and then added some 2 way glue and Dazzling Diamonds.  I cut 2 strips of card, 1 each in So Saffron and Baja Breeze and adhered them across the bottom. I stamped the greeting from ‘Great Friend’ in So Saffron and then punched it out with the Large oval punch.  I sponged around the edge, added a staple and mounting it with mounting tape.  I was pleased how it turned out.

I’m glad I managed to get the challenge done this week.  Now onto the next task!

Thanks for looking!

THIS TIME A 3D CHALLENGE!!

Ok, I’m a little behind in posting at the moment. Life gets a bit busy! I have shown you in a few recent posts dfferent challenges we did on a Cyberstamp weekend with fellow Aussie Demos. One of the challenges was a 3D challenge. This was set by the lovely Leonie. Go and check her blog out. She is one very creative lady.
We had to make this gift bag. It is such a quick bag to make once all the bits are cut. You need a brown paper bag with a base like you get at McDonalds. Now you can see all these demos racing off to McDonalds that weekend for their burger and paper bag! LOL
Now I just made a bag-A-Lope from a brown paper bag. If you are not sure how to make one of these, the instructions can be found here on Splitcoast. This is my creation. I did adjust the size of mine because my bag was a bit bigger, but it is a great size for some choccies and card.

Stamps: Best Wishes and More.

Card: Choc Chip, Whisper White, Old Olive, Good Morning Sunshine DSP.

Ink: Old Olive.

Other: Choc Chip grosgrain ribbon, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Brown Paper bag, Velcro Strip (to close the bag).

I love this little bag.  It is sooo cute.  I’m going to have to make another one very soon.  When I catch up on everything else!!

Have a good Day 🙂

Keesh’s Sketch Challenge #11

I have just completed a card for Keesh’s Challenge this week.  Here is the sketch Keesh set.

This really took me out of my comfort zone.  I don’t normally mix patterns together on a card, but I though this sketch would work well with this.  The great thing with SU papers is they are designed to work together.  That makes the job so much easier!  I have been playing with my new Spring mini stamps and since I am starting to work on Christmas Cards I thought I would use the “Tree Trimmings” set.  Here is my card I came up with.

PICT1382

I don’t have any fancy circle cutters so I used the old-fashioned way with a compass and pencil and cut them out with my scissors.  I hope SU introduce the circle scissors here it would be so good!!!

Stamps:  Tree Trimmings, Short and Sweet.

Card: Sage Shadow, Ruby Red, Whisper White, Windsor Knot DSP.

Ink: Ruby Red, Old Olive, Going Gray.

Other: Riding Hood Red  ribbon (Ribbon Originals), Red Rhinestone Brads (Circle Fire), Mounting Tape, Horizontal Slot punch, Dazzling Diamonds, 2 way glue, paper piercer and piercing mat.

I punched a slot with the slot punch and threaded the ribbon through this and tied it in a knot.  You can’t really tell though.  I did add some holes using the paper piercer in the top left corner too.  I stamped the ornaments on scrap Whisper White card and then cut them out.  I put 2 way glue over them and sprinkled the Dazzling Diamonds on to give it some bling.  It is a bit hard to see, but here is a close-up.

There you have it.  Why don’t you go and check out the other entries for this challenge.  I’m a bit behind in my posts so I will be back soon.

Have a good day.  🙂

MAKEESHA’S INSPIRATION CHALLENGE #10

I’ve been in a rush today to get Keesh’s challenge done.  Keesh always comes up with some beauties!!!!  Here is the photo we had as inspiration.

I have stared at this photo several times over the last week and have really struggled with it.  I did attempt something else but it just wasn’t working.  So I came up with this.  Now I was pleased how this one turned out considering my frustration, desperation, anquish!! But when I look at all the other cards that some very clever people have done mine is kind of boring.  Oh Well!! It’s done now!  I have a lot to learn!

Anyway, here is my card.

PICT1378

I have stamped the butterfly in Basic Black onto So Saffron DSP to create a shadow.  Then stamped the butterfly on whisper white with Tempting Turquoise and then cut it out.  I stamped the leaf stems in So saffron on whisper white and cut them out too.  I actually stamped these for my other card attempt (but we won’t talk about that one!).  I scalloped the edge of black card and mounted the DSP onto that and mounted it onto Tempting Turqoise cardstock.  I adhered the butterfly just on the middle so the wings would raise up, and also adhered the leaf stems.  I added a strip of black and created a bow with black cardstock.  The greeting is stamped in Basic Black.  It is a very simple card!!!!

I’m loving this new set “A Great Friend” that is coming out in the new Spring Mini starting on August 1.  I think it is a must-have!!

Go check out the other cards in Keesh’s challenge here.  There is some awesome creations!!!

A COLOUR CHALLENGE THIS TIME!!

I have just completed another challenge for the ESAD forum I am in.  This is a group for Australian SU Demonstrators.  This weekend has been a huge one with lots of stamping and creating for many different challenges.  Last post I showed a card for a sketch challenge.  This time I have created a card for the Colour Challenge.  When I first saw the colours I was surprised.  They were very dull colours (can I say that???).  But that’s what a challenge is for – to stretch our creativity.

Here are the colours:        So Saffron, Basic Gray, Whisper White.

What do you do with those colours together?  I had several thoughts in my head of what to create, but then this is the card I turned out…. and I was pleased with it.

Colour Challange Ning

Stamps:  Embrace life

Card: So Saffron, Whisper White, Urban Garden DSP, Windsor Knot DSP.

Ink: Basic Black (ssshhh!).

Other: Ribbon Originals, Dimensionals.

Ok, so I didn’t have Basic Gray ink.  That was my other issue.  So I used Basic Black and stamped it off and then stamped it on the card.  That’s close to Basic Gray isn’t it????  I stamped off the flower in the set and stamped it on the Windsor Knot So Saffron DSP and then cut it out.  I then mounted it with Dimensionals on the Whisper White card that I had stamped with the stems.

So what do you think of this colour combination?  Why don’t you give it a go.  Email me your creation or let me know your link so I can share it with everyone.

I have been creating other things too so I will show you them soon.

A HEART FOR BELLA!

This is for all you die-hard Twilight fans.  (I probably shouldn’t use that term!!).  I just made this card today.  Funny how inspiration comes to you.  I was out walking my dog this morning and I passed by a car that had a crystal hanging from the rear view mirror.  As I am reading Eclipse at the moment (the 3rd in the series) it got me thinking about the crystal heart that Edward gave Bella (and we all go AAHHHH!!).  Anyway, I was thinking about it on a card and came up with this.  Last week our team challenge was to use red and embossing.  Since I hadn’t got around to doing it yet I thought that would work well with this card.

Here is a close-up of the heart so you can see the sparkle.

PICT1226

I stamped the Baroque Motifs swirl in Versamark and Basic Black and clear embossed them on Real Red card.  I did the same with the word ‘cherish’.  I stamped the heart from ‘Best Wishes and More’ in versamark onto vellum.  I sprinkled over heat and stick powder and heated it with the heating tool.  I then sprinkled over dazzling diamonds and heated it again slightly.  You need to heat the vellum gently so it doesn’t burn.  I cut it out and adhered it to the card.  I sponged around the edges with basic black.  I then adhered this to black card and then to real red base.  There you have it.- Bella’s crystal heart!!  TFL.

NON-CONVENTION CARD CHALLENGE!

Many SU Demos have been in Chilly Canberra this weekend for the annual Stampin’ Up! Convention.  Unfortunately I couldn’t make it.  A forum I am on had a non-convention goers card challenge, among many other fun challenges.  Thanks Tanya for organising this!!

This is the sketch that we had to create a card.  I like this sketch.  It is very simple.  I might be using it for some upcoming workshops!

cardsketch1

This is the card I created.   I was inspired by this card by Claire.  I loved how she used the Baroque Motif swirls on the background.

pict1148

I have used the faux silk technique for the rose.  First I stamped the rose image from Embrace Life in stazon on white tissue paper.  Then I watercoloured the rose with the stamp pads and aquapainter.  Leave it to dry for a short time and then scrunch up the tissue into a ball.  Carefully unwrap the ball.  Adhere the tissue to white cardstock.  For the card I stamped the Baroque Motifs swirl with choc chip ink onto choc chip cardstock.  I scalloped the edge of Ruby Red card and adhered a piece of the Raspberry Tart DSP onto this before adhering both to the choc chip card.  I used mounting tape to mount the faux silk image.  The greeting is from the Level 1 hostess set, Best Yet.  I inked up the words with markers and used the Large oval and the new Wide oval punch.  I was really pleased how this turned out. There are so many other projects Tanya has set for us, but I think I will be trying these over the next couple of weeks. This week is turning out to be very busy.

MAKEESHA’S INSPIRATION CHALLENGE

I had a go at Makeesha’s Inspiration Challenge for this week.  I have to say it was a hard one. I wasn’t sure how to tackle it.  I knew I wanted to incorporate the circles from the soup mugs somehow.  I was flicking through the 2007-2008 Stampin’ Up! catalogue the other night and came across a card on page 86 that I thought I would work with.  It was a little bit fiddly, but it was fun to do.

Here is the photo we had to work with.

This is my end result.

pict10691

To punch the circles I used the 1 3/8″ circle punch.  I punched some out first on scrap paper and used the 2-way glue on certain celery cardstock.  This is great repositional glue to use.  If you add some to the card and let it go clear before you fix it to your piece you can then take it on and off until you are happy with the position.   I then traced around these circles and punched out on the marks with the punch.  I placed a piece of whisper white card under the certain celery card.  I punched out some circles with the 1 1/4″ circle punch from scrap paper again and lined it up within the circles on the certain celery card.  I marked these circles in pencil and then punched them out from the whisper white card  with the 1 1/4″ circle punch.  One of the circles I cut from a scrap of chocolate chip card.  All these circles were quite fiddly to do.  I don’t know if there is a simpler way of doing it, but it worked out ok.  I used the ’embrace life’ set and stamped the blossom in chocolate chip onto pumpkin pie card.  I inked the words one at a time in the chocolate chip marker and stamped them on pumpkin pie so one word ran under the other.  I inked up some white taffeta ribbon with my pumpkin pie marker.  I punched out a slit with the slit punch and tied the ribbon through.  I had curled the edges of the celery card with my bone folder to give it a distressed edge. I adhered this piece to chocolate chip base and then pierced holes down each side.  This is a bit hard to see in the photo.  I think it is missing something though, what do you think?

I’ve just received my new Rubbah. Gotta like that. Even better is it is all FREE! How good is that. You can earn some great FREE stuff being a demonstator. If you want to find out how you can earn some FREE rubbah, just contact me. I’m off to play!!
