I’VE BEEN PLAYING DRESS UPS!

Did you love playing Dress Ups when you were little?  It was a lot of fun.  Dress Ups was my daughter’s favourite game when she was younger.  I just have to show you this photo.  This was her favourite dress she wore nearly everytime.  She just thought she was gorgeous – and she was (and still is!!!).  Here is Carlie about 3 years old in her favourite red dress.

Red Dress

I have been playing Dress Ups recently.  The Stampin’ Up! Dress Ups Dies.  Haha! You thought you would see a photo of me dressing up in some funny outfit.

These Dress Ups Dies are so much fun.  There is no end to the creations you can make.  I put together a few paper outfits.  I made this card up using one of the dresses. See the edge of the Razzleberry skirt?  I have used the Needlepoint Border Embossing Folder. You don’t need much more to layer the dress on.  I added a little piece of lace doily and the Honeycomb Embossing Folder.  The sentiment is from Petite Pairs.

When I cut the Black Dress Form out I realised the negative of the cut-out could be used.  Why waste it! So then I created a card using that piece.

P1070996

I used a piece of Sycamore Street I had left over to back the black card, and I used a strip of Tangerine Tango from the Patterns Paper Stack.  I finished it off with a Tangerine Tango Button from Sale-A-Bration and the greeting is from ‘Fabulous Phrases.

Now excuse me while I go and play Dress Ups some more.  🙂

VINTAGE VERSES IN POOL PARTY!!

Here is one of the first cards I have made with one of the Free Sale-A-Bration sets.  Have to say it didn’t come together quite like in my head BUT anyway I am going to show you.

P1070617

A piece of Pool Party card was cut with a larger Labels Framelits and then embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  I cut a piece of DSP from the ‘Floral District’ pack with a smaller Labels Framelits and this was layered under the Pool Party card.  The verse from Vintage Verses was stamped in Rich Razzleberry on Whisper White and layered under that.  It was all adhered to the front of a Pool Party card base.  The fold of the card is on the Left Hand side.  I added a small heart punched from Silver Glimmer Paper.  White Organze ribbon was wrapped around the card and some Pool Party Satin ribbon (one of the Free choices with Sale-A-Bration) was tied through this.  All this resulted in an elegant card – I think????  I’m still not completely sure about the card though.  Hope you like it and may find some inspiration!!

Thanks for stopping by.  I have some more Sale-A-Bration creations in store so stop by again soon,

“SCENTSATIONAL” BABY!

Don’t put some of those Christmas stamps away just yet! It’s great to know that you can use them for more occasions than the season they were intended.

Here is a great idea I found on Stampin’ Connection, a Demonstrator Forum I am on.  This was CASED from Mercedes Weber.  You can visit her blog here.  She is just the cleverest 🙂

P1070587

How cute is this using the set “Scentsational Season”.  I would never have thought to use this for a baby card, but what a great idea! The clouds are punched from the Cupcake Punch and ran through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  The DSP is Tempting Turquoise and is from the Brights Paper Stack.  The greeting is from “Itty Bitty Banners” and cut with the Bitty Banner Framelits.  There you go, a baby card using a Christmas set.  Who’d have thought Hey!!!!

Well, 2013 has dawned.  I hope this year brings you all you hope for.  Keep looking forward to achieve your goals.  Don’t dwell on the bad stuff, they just weigh you down.

Happy 2013 to you,

Jenny x

HOME AGAIN!!!

I am back home again after a fantastic holiday.  We had a great time away but it is so nice to be home again. I will share photos once I get myself sorted.  It’s back in to our school term now and I have lots of classes and workshops coming up.  But it’s all good!  When I was thinking of how good home is it made me think of a card I made quite some time ago.  (Ok, nearly a year ago but Ssh!!).  I made this card for a special friend who was moving house and wanted to make something special for her.  This took me a while but I loved the end result.  This card was inspired by a card I saw by Jackie Topa but I can’t find the actual one now.  I have just added some little “extra’s” to it.

Here is my card.

I have sponged clouds in the background.  I made a mask using 2 scallop ovals punched out with scrap paper and adhering them to the card with Dotto.  I sponged with Baja Breeze and moved the oval masks in places.  The little scallop edge under the triangle roof was made using the Scallop Dotted Ribbon punnch. I sponged each piece that I punched out: the flowers, roof, leafs, grass.  For the grass, I punched out a strip of Old Olive with the Scallop Edge punch and then moved it along slightly in the punch and punched out again to create a jagged edge.  Other punches used: Boho Blossoms Punch, 2 step Bird Punch, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Owl Punch (circle for the “hole”).  I also used Old Olive Taffeta ribbon, and some Dazzling Diamonds for the flower centres.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I love to have you visit me.

See you again soon,

IT’S A POP-UP!!!!!

Finally I have got back to you with instructions of how I made the Cupcake Pop-Up card.  I showed this card one or two posts back but here is a photo of the card to refresh your memory.

Leonie N  showed me how to make this card at a stamping day a few weeks ago.   It is so cool and gives such a ‘WOW’ when you open it.  I have put together a few steps and some photos to help you.

CUPCAKE POP-UP CARD

NB. All the measurements are in metric.  I have used the Cutter to cut the slits for the Pop-up.  I found that so much easier.

1.  Cut Card 20cmx13.8cm.  Score card along the 20cm side at 10cm.

Here is the template to go with the photos.

——-   Score lines                         ______  Cut lines

2. Line the card up on the cutter with the 13.8cm edge at the top. Starting at the scored centre line, move across 2cm.  Cut 1.5cm below the score line and 1.5cm above the score line (ie making a 3cm cut).  It is a bit hard to tell but in the photo I have the edge of the card lined up at the 2cm mark.  I have the cutter at the 11.5cm mark and will cut up to 8.5cm.

3. At the 4cm mark on the cutter, cut from the score line down 3cm. (Sorry I didn’t have a photo of this one but you can get the idea from the other photos and the template- I hope!)

4. At the 6cm mark, measure down 1.5cm below the score line (this is the 11.5cm mark on the cutter). Cut 3cm down (ie to the 14.5cm mark). (The photo shows the cutting ending at the 14.5cm mark).

5. At the 8cm mark, cut a line following the same measures as Step 4 above.  (ie measure down 1.5cm below the score line down to 14.5cm.

6. At the 10cm mark, cut from the score line down 3cm. (Missed that photo too!)

7. At the 12cm mark, cut 1.5 cm below the score line and 1.5cm above the score line. (Like you did in Step 2).  You can see the other cut marks from the earlier steps.

Here you can see all the lines cut.  If it’s not too clear refer to the template photo above.

8. Now the cuts are made, score the lines between each cut line (see the template above to show the score lines).  Don’t score out towards the edge of the card.

9.  Now the folding begins.  Here are a few tips to help with the folding. Firstly, fold the card in half on the regular score line.  Lift up the top half of the card and fold on the first score line.  Then turn the card over and fold the card back on each of the score lines.  Then open the card and push from behind on each of the folds and cuts to push it in shape.  Press along the score lines to make the scored lines crisper.

10. Now the folding is done, you can adhere this in to your card.  Place adhesive on one half of the back of the template.  Place inside the base card while folded.  Then you can add adhesive to the other half of the template and adhere in the base card.

Phew! I hope you are still with me!!!  I hope this all makes sense???  If any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Enjoy!

“CARDS FOR CANCER PROJECTS”

Now I can show you the projects that we made at my ‘Cards For Cancer’ Event held a few weeks ago.  We made 3 cards.  I chose the colours of these cards to represent some of the colour ribbons that symbolise various cancers.  If you do a search of Cancer ribbon colours it is amazing how many colours represent so many cancers.

Firstly,  the pink.  We all are familiar with the pink in representing Breast Cancer.  For this I used the ‘Reason to Smile’ set that was on promotion last month.  It’s a shame this set is not around longer.

This card was inspired by one I saw on my blog travels using ‘Field Flowers’.  I liked the layout of the card.  For this card we stamped the “Happy Birthday” from ‘Curly Cute’ in black and then ran it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Impression Folder.   We added a white butterfly cut with the ‘Beautiful Wings’ Sizzlit die.  The solid flower from ‘Reason to Smile’ was stamped in Pretty in pink and the outline stamped in Cherry Cobbler.

The next card was a lilac colour representing All Cancers.  I used Wisteria Wonder.

The card was a Whisper White base with a Wisteria Wonder mat and the White for the top layer.  The doily stamp from ‘Delicate Doilies’ was stamped down the side in Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade and Pretty in Pink.  The greeting is from ‘Happiest Birthday Wishes’.  We just added some bling in the centre of the Lucky Limeade Doily.  This is a very simple card to reproduce.  It was CASED from Michelle here.  I couldn’t find the actual post with this card though but she has some great cards, so check it out.

The 3rd card had to be one for the boys.  This was light blue representing Prostate Cancer.  I used Marina Mist and the great set for the boys ‘Need For Speed’ and ‘Extreme Elements’.

I used the Marina Mist Marker to colour the boat.  The splodge was inked in Marina Mist and the edges sponged with Night Of Navy.  This cards was CASED from Sherri Freese on Stampin’ Connection, our demonstrator forum.

So I hope you like the projects we made.  I think everyone who came did.  It was a great day and for a Great cause.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jenny
