MARINA MIST FLOWER GARDEN

I am just taking a break from sharing Christmas projects today as I wanted to show you this card I created recently.  This uses the new ‘Flower Garden’ Embossing Folder from the Summer Mini Catalogue.

I have embossed the Flower on Very Vanilla Card and inked the centres of the flowers with the daubers and Marina Mist inkpad.  The ‘celebrate’ is from my new favourite stampset “Fabulous Phrases”.  The vanilla card was matted onto Marina Mist card and then some Wide striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Marina Mist was tied around.  This was all added to a base of Soft Suede.  I just added an Adhesive Pearl in the top right hand corner.

Have you seen the new Summer Mini Catalogue yet???? Contact me and I can send one out to you (Australia only), or click on the link in the right hand column to see it online.  There are lots of new fun goodies in this one!

I hope your week is starting off ok??  Thanks for stopping by and I will see you again soon.

“50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY – BAROQUE MOTIFS STYLE!!”

Our next door neighbours recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.  It was such a great milestone I wanted to make a card to mark the great occasion.  It was a couple of weeks ago now but they have been away to celebrate so I have only just made them the card AND I really didn’t know what I was going to do for it.  I have been pondering on it for a while and I went searching and I still wasn’t sure.  Then I found this idea on SplitcoastStampers.  (Oh how I love that site.  It always gets you out of trouble!!!!).  I was inspired by a design I saw by sillyfilly there.  I liked the idea of using the Top Note die.  I dug out my poor neglected Baroque Motifs set.  This set always comes to the rescue too.  This is what I came up with.

CARD: Marina Mist, Whisper White, Gold card (non-SU!)

STAMPS:  Baroque Motifs.            INK: Marina Mist

OTHER: Top Note Die, Big Shot, Decorative Label Punch, Beautiful Wings Embosslits, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Medium Sizzlits Die, Gold Cord (retired),

I even did the inside, although it is not very exciting!

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope your week is going well.  Stop by again soon.

ONE FOR THE BOYS!!

Yesterday I had my Card Class where we focused on cards for the boys.  Masculine cards are usually hard for everyone to do.  We can’t tizz them up with ribbon and bling like we do for the girls cards.  So in this class we created 2 cards and a tag.  For the boys cards sometimes we need to focus on using different techniques, add distressing and inking and you can replace the ribbon for twine.  I wanted to show you one of the cards we did in the class which was very popular.

The original card idea came from Linda here at Polka Dots and Paper.  Now I couldn’t find the card when I went back to it, but this is her original card.

I liked the idea of the embossed foil and creating the spanners with punches.  How neat is that!!!  So, here is the card we did. I simplified it a little from the original.   It was a bit hard to take a photo as you kept getting the reflection off the foil, but I think you get the general idea.

To create the foil mat, adhere regular kitchen aluminium foil to a piece of card.  I used Whisper White.  Then run the piece through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.

Then you can create your spanners.  I played around with the punches for a bit to get the right sizes.  Here are the punches used: Boho Blossoms Punch, 3/4″ Circle Punch, Word Window Punch and 1″ Circle Punch.  The strip is a piece of Crumb Cake card measuring 8cm x 1.3cm.  This was scored at 1/2 cm on the back to create the groove.  All the pieces were sponged with Soft Suede ink along the top edges.

The greeting from Teeny Tiny Sentiments was stamped in Soft Suede and punched out with the Word Window Punch, and then a piece punched out with the Modern Label Punch.  The spanners were raised up with dimensionals.  The aluminium piece was adhered to a Soft Suede mat and then Crumb Cake base.

Now I have to add that in last night’s class I had a couple of late cancellations, so instead of cancelling it Sarah dragged, bribed, or brought willingly her hubby along.  (I’m not sure which one of those it was!!!).  He was such a good sport though and even joined in.  He has a card done ready for his Dad for Father’s Day.  Well done Trevor, you did a great job.  Thanks for joining in.

I really shouldn’t be here right now.  We have our school fete on this Sunday.  I am nowhere near ready.  I haven’t done nearly as much as I wanted to and we have a family 60th today. So I better get moving.

Stop by again soon.  I love you visiting my world.  Add a comment to let me know you have been.

Have a good weekend,

Jenny

ANOTHER SAIL-AWAY!

I have another quick card to show you today using the Sail-Away Stamp.  I’m loving this stamp.  There is so much detail to the stamp, I haven’t even begun colouring it yet!!  This is a card based on one I saw on Splitcoast Stampers.

I embossed the Baja Breeze card with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  The Sailboat was stamped in Baja Breeze and then the corner torn off – very technical stuff!!  The Happy Birthday is from “Teeny Tiny Sentiments”.  Twine was wrapped around the Whisper White card and then the card was raised up with mounting tape off the Baja Breeze card.  I really liked how this card turned.  It is quite simple, yet looks stylish!

Are you getting bored with ‘Sail-Away’ Yet???  I haven’t finished showing you my projects yet!  Stop by again soon to see what else I have been doing with this stamp.  I will show you something else soon too – promise!!  🙂

To all my US blog readers – Happy 4th July!!!! I hope you all have a fantastic day celebrating!

Will be back again soon,

IT’S SURFIN’ TIME!!!

I created this card quite a few weeks ago but hadn’t got around to showing you yet.  I did a search in blog land for some ideas after I had borrowed the “Extreme Surfer” stamp from my Mother-In-Law.  I was inspired by a card I had seen on Splitcoast Stampers.  I changed the colours….and the layout….and the stamping.  Apart from that it is exactly the same!!!  I liked the idea of it on the Scallop square card.

Card: Night of Navy, Rose Red and So Saffron.

I stamped the ‘splodge’ from Extreme Elements in Whisper White on the Saffron, then stamped the surfer over the top in Night of Navy.  The ‘happy birthday’ is from “Teeny Tiny Sentiments”.  The eyelet was added to the So Saffron card and twine tied through.  It was then adhered to Rose Red card and then a base created with the Scallop Square Die on the Big Shot.  It is a fairly simple card really, just right for the boys!!!

I have been creating lots of other cards for the “boys” lately.  I hope to post those over the next week so stop by again soon.

Until next time, Happy Stamping!

SILHOUETTE OWLS!

On Monday we had our regular stamping get together with Leonie and Andrea.  It’s so much more fun stamping with friends!  Andrea brought along some project ideas and we loved this sample by Laurie.  We loved the Silhouette owls.  This was the card I created.  It was a little similar to Laurie’s.

The hearts were punched out with the Heart to Heart punch and then inlaid embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. That is, I adhered the hearts onto the Marina Mist card before I ran it through the Big Shot, so the hearts were embossed with the dots as well.  I reversed the dots to give it a different effect. (OK, well I ran it through the wrong way by mistake!!!  That doesn’t matter though, does it???).  I adhered a strip of the narrow grosgrain ribbon across the bottom.  The greeting is from “Love Defined”.  I punched it out with the Curly Label Punch and cut off the bottom half.  I raised it up with dimensionals.  I added a little Rhinestone in the centre of the ‘O’.  It’s a bit hard to see.  I also used Champagne shimmer Paint on the moon but you can’t see the sparkle unfortunately.  Andrea had that idea and we copied!! hehe!  That’s the good thing about getting together!!  You can see her sparkly moon – and her beautiful brayered version at her link!!

I am heading off now and going to TRY and get to bed at a more reasonable time tonight!! LOL

Thanks for stopping by.  Stop by again soon.

BABY ‘PUNCH BUNCH’

I needed to make a few more baby cards and thought it was timely to use the Sale-A-Bration set “Punch Bunch”.  I made a pink and a blue one.  They were very simple as I haven’t got a lot of spare time at the moment!

A pink one for the girls.

I ran a piece of the Pretty in Pink card through the Big Shot with the Polka Dots Embossing Folder and layered this onto Whisper White. I raised that off the Pretty in Pink Card base with mounting tape.  I stamped the baby tag from “Punch Bunch” in Pretty in Pink and punched it out with the small tag punch.  This was raised off the card with mounting tape and I then tied a small bow with the lovely Organza ribbon.  I did some paper piercing in both opposite corners.

For the blue one I did exactly the same using Bashful Blue.

Very simple but I think very cute!  Ok, gotta run.  I’m off to the school for an appointment with the Principal.  Gotta love those!

Enjoy the rest of your day – AND Happy Valentine’s Day to all my lovely readers.  I hope your day is special.  If you don’t get anything special from your ‘significant other’, then go and buy yourself some chocolate.  You know you deserve it!!  xxx 😉

A BABY DRESS!

I have so many friends at the moment having babies.  There must be something in the water!  LOL.  I wanted to show you this card I made recently for a customer who has become a good friend.  She recently had a baby girl.  I wanted to make something special.

Sometime ago I made a baby Onesie (jumpsuit)  card.  You can see that post here.  As in that post I doubled the length to make a larger card.  The original design I used was by Lauren and I changed it to create a baby dress.

I traced the outline of the dress onto vellum and cut it out.  Then ran it through with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder.  I scalloped the edge with the Scallop Border Punch.  I punched a circle with the 1 3/8″ circle punch and then punched over it with the scallop circle punch to create a collar.  I cut a strip of vellum and scalloped this with the scallop border punch too.  These were ran through the Big Shot with the Polka Dots folder as well.  Just a note:  If you find it difficult to punch through the vellum just add a piece of scrap paper underneath so it will punch cleanly.  I wrapped some Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon around the card and created a bow to adhere to the middle.  A few small Adhesive Pearls finished it off.  I was really pleased with how it turned out!

I hope she likes it.  I am just going to deliver it now.  I have to get going and create a few more baby cards.  Some of these babies have arrived already, so I better get to work.  I will show you those when they are done.

Enjoy the rest of your day,

Jenny x
