MORE SWAPS!

Are you ready for more swaps??? If you have been around a few blogs you might be sick of them by now.  Anyway, I thought I would show you mine.

This is the first one I did.  I watercoloured the leaves and dragonfly with the inkpads and blender pens.

Stamps: Embrace Life, Organic Grace, Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

Cards: Ruby Red (some were Riding Hood Red), Old Olive, More Mustard, Whisper White.

Ink: Old Olive, Ruby Red.

Other: Sponge, Blender Pen, Word Window Punch.

I would have liked to mount the dragonfly, or added some Dazzling Diamonds on his wings,  but with so many I passed on that!  It is just a simple card.

Here is a close-up of the dragonfly.

This is my other swap card I did.  I’m still not sure if I like it, but it got to the point I couldn’t change my mind anymore.

Stamps: French Script, Cottage Garden.

Card: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence, Old Olive, Whisper White.

Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive.

Other: Crimper, Eyelet Border Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, sponge, Crystal Effects.

Here is a close up.

After I sponged the flowers and adhered them together, I added a drop of crystal effects to the centre.

So, what do you think????

I have a couple of other cards that I was contemplating on.  I will show you those soon.  For now, I must run!!!

Happy Stamping! xx

JUST STOPPING BY!!

Aren’t computers great!  At your fingertips is a wealth of information and you can chat to people from all over the world.  Then when they die, life stops!!!  Our computer has been dying a slow death for some months now and we have been backing everything up on discs.  Well, I think our computer has died now.  I’m hoping it will recover!  We took it in to the computer doctor today to see the prognosis.  I am so lost without it.  Fortunately, we have the laptop but I don’t have any documents or photos on here at the moment ….. and where is the mouse??? LOL

So, I can’t show you any  new creations at the moment.  I hope to get things sorted out shortly.  So, bear with me.  Take some time and visit my past creations.  Here is a photo of my first card I showed on my blog from February last year.  Can you believe it I missed my blog-iversary!

Don’t forget to come back again soon. Happy Stamping!!

A COLOUR CHALLENGE THIS TIME!!

I have just completed another challenge for the ESAD forum I am in.  This is a group for Australian SU Demonstrators.  This weekend has been a huge one with lots of stamping and creating for many different challenges.  Last post I showed a card for a sketch challenge.  This time I have created a card for the Colour Challenge.  When I first saw the colours I was surprised.  They were very dull colours (can I say that???).  But that’s what a challenge is for – to stretch our creativity.

Here are the colours:        So Saffron, Basic Gray, Whisper White.

What do you do with those colours together?  I had several thoughts in my head of what to create, but then this is the card I turned out…. and I was pleased with it.

Colour Challange Ning

Stamps:  Embrace life

Card: So Saffron, Whisper White, Urban Garden DSP, Windsor Knot DSP.

Ink: Basic Black (ssshhh!).

Other: Ribbon Originals, Dimensionals.

Ok, so I didn’t have Basic Gray ink.  That was my other issue.  So I used Basic Black and stamped it off and then stamped it on the card.  That’s close to Basic Gray isn’t it????  I stamped off the flower in the set and stamped it on the Windsor Knot So Saffron DSP and then cut it out.  I then mounted it with Dimensionals on the Whisper White card that I had stamped with the stems.

So what do you think of this colour combination?  Why don’t you give it a go.  Email me your creation or let me know your link so I can share it with everyone.

I have been creating other things too so I will show you them soon.

NON-CONVENTION CARD CHALLENGE!

Many SU Demos have been in Chilly Canberra this weekend for the annual Stampin’ Up! Convention.  Unfortunately I couldn’t make it.  A forum I am on had a non-convention goers card challenge, among many other fun challenges.  Thanks Tanya for organising this!!

This is the sketch that we had to create a card.  I like this sketch.  It is very simple.  I might be using it for some upcoming workshops!

This is the card I created.   I was inspired by this card by Claire.  I loved how she used the Baroque Motif swirls on the background.

I have used the faux silk technique for the rose.  First I stamped the rose image from Embrace Life in stazon on white tissue paper.  Then I watercoloured the rose with the stamp pads and aquapainter.  Leave it to dry for a short time and then scrunch up the tissue into a ball.  Carefully unwrap the ball.  Adhere the tissue to white cardstock.  For the card I stamped the Baroque Motifs swirl with choc chip ink onto choc chip cardstock.  I scalloped the edge of Ruby Red card and adhered a piece of the Raspberry Tart DSP onto this before adhering both to the choc chip card.  I used mounting tape to mount the faux silk image.  The greeting is from the Level 1 hostess set, Best Yet.  I inked up the words with markers and used the Large oval and the new Wide oval punch.  I was really pleased how this turned out. There are so many other projects Tanya has set for us, but I think I will be trying these over the next couple of weeks. This week is turning out to be very busy.

A TISSUE, A TISSUE……

At last week’s team meeting Sarah showed us paper casting.  Thanks Sarah! It was great fun.  It is such a different way to use your stamps.  Here is the cast images of the stamps I used after they had dried and I had cut around them.  This is just made with tissues and a glue/water mix.  Sarah got the details from here.  Here they used just water. We used a mix of 1 part white glue (PVA) to 3 parts water.

I then created 2 cards with them.   I used the SU pastels and daubed it on.

The first one is with the Simply Said set.  I don’t often use Soft Subtles colours, but it is “so pretty” as my DD said.

Card:   Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White

Ink: Bashful Blue, Pixie Pink, Gable Green Markers.

The next card was inspired by this card by Nikki Stalker.  I loved it when I saw it.  It was stunning.  I used the flower from Eastern Blooms and I thought it looked oriental so would work well for this card.  I was really pleased with how this card turned out.

Card:  Real Red, Black

Ink: Basic Black, Black Stampin’ Write Marker.

Stamps: Eastern Blooms, Embrace Life, Short and Sweet.

The paper cast images add another dimension to your cards and it is such fun to do.  It is very relaxing dabbing away at your stamps.  I’m putting together a tutorial to do paper casting, so check back in the next day or two and I can show you how it is done.

MAKEESHA’S CHALLENGE WITH BLOOM AWAY!

I made another card with this set for Makeesha’s sketch challenge this week. You can see the sketch here.  I had been thinking about this sketch for a few days and I wasn’t sure what to do.  I had already watercoloured the image so I thought I would incorporate that somehow.  I wasn’t sure about the colours either.  I wanted to pick out the colours in the image but I didn’t want it to look like a Christmas Card.  (Although I think this set will be really good at Christmas time).  While I was tossing around a few combinations and not quite happy with what I had,  it was then that I saw it……   Sitting on the table next to me was the new Stampin’ Up! Catalogue.  This colour combo. was on the front cover.  The catalogue was an inspiration without even opening a page!

On to the card: I used Ruby Red for the card base and stamped the leaves from Embrace Life with Versamark.  I sponged around the edge of a piece of Old Olive cardstock.  I scalloped the edge of Chocolate Chip strip with the Border scallop punch and adhered it to the Olive piece.  I stamped the Eucalyptus Gum on watercolour paper in Going Grey.  I watercoloured it using the inkpads and aquapainter.  I then cut around the image and mounted it on a circle with dimensionals.  The circle was cut using the Round Tab punch.  I punched out 2 pieces and offset them.  I mounted this on the card with dimensionals also.  I stamped the greeting from Short and Sweet in Choc. Chip and punched it out with the word window punch.  I also cut one from Choc. Chip and adhered them together and trimmed off the end.  I mounted it against the side with dimensionals.  You’ve got to love that stuff! The card is straight IRL, believe me.

I have actually finished one of Keesh’s sketch on time!

PIZZA WITH LOVE!!!

Yesterday I had a project class where everyone got to make a Mini Pizza Box and Love notes.  (Hence the heading!).  I think everyone had a great time!  I always love seeing how they all turn out.
Here is what they are like.

pict0972

They are very cute little boxes.  I found this on Splitcoast and there are various ones on other blogs.  The only thing missing is the pizza!

I have used ‘Embrace Life’ set and stamped the blossom on Very Vanilla cardstock.  To create the scallop cut out, the card must be 7.5cm (3″) square.  Place the card in the scallop edge punch and line it up even between the markings on the top.  After punching, turn the card and line up the next side.  Because of the size it won’t completely punch it out, creating a little tab.  Repeat on the other sides.  If that doesn’t make sense, email me.  You can thread ribbon through the slots too and wrap it around the card.  That looks really effective.  I have mounted the scallop square with dimensionals on a square of Ginger Blossoms DSP and then on Regal Rose.  You can’t see inside the box but I have lined the bottom of the box with a square of the ruby red dotted paper in the same DSP pack.

The little Love Notes measure 14.8×7.5 (just so you can fit them nicely on an A4 cardstock).  Score and fold them in half.  I stamped the blossoms from ‘Embrace Life’  on vanilla cardstock again.  The sentiment is from ‘Short and sweet’.  These would make cute little gifts and they are so quick to make.   Try one for yourself.  If you would like me to show you how, get some friends together and I can come to you.

We’ve got to start somewhere!!

This week is a big week for celebrations in our family.  Today is my SIL birthday, the Big 6-0 (shhh, I didn’t tell you that!).  I wanted to use some of the beautiful DSP papers in the current summer mini.  You only have 1 month left to buy any of these products in the summer mini.

I have used the ginger blossoms DSP.   I have layered these on vanilla cardstock.  The paper strips are mounted on regal rose.  The flower image is from the ‘Embrace Life’ set also from the summer mini.  It is stamped onto regal rose cardstock, cut and mounted with dimensionals.  This stamp set is so lovely.  I have used it so many times and I’m sure you will see more with it.  A little bling with dazzling diamonds and very vanilla grosgrain ribbon, some corner piercing and it is finished. I’m not sure of the stark regal rose colour on this though.  I will be back again soon with another special event card.
