SOME POP-UP CARDS!!

I have some fun pop-up cards to show you today.  I made these at our stamping weekend a little while ago.  They were so much fun to put together.

This first one Leonie N showed me how to do. (Edited to Add:  Andrea let me know that she showed Leonie this card, whom then showed me.  Thanks Andrea for the great card).  This is a great one for the boys using ‘Need For Speed’.

Card: Lucky Limeade and Very Vanilla.  Paper: Cheerful Treat (Hostess DSP) Ink: Soft Suede.  Stamps: Need for Speed, Perfect Punches.

Here is the inside View.  I used Confetti White for the insert.   I stamped the Quad Bike in Soft Suede and coloured it with the Crumb Cake Marker and blended it with the blender pen.  This was cut out and mounted on the Pop-up part.  I stamped the Quad Bike again in Crumb Cake on the top part of the insert.  The greeting is from the hostess set ‘Happiest Birthday Wishes’ and is stamped in Soft Suede.

Here is a side-view to see the Pop-Up part in action.

This next Pop-Up Card is using ‘Create a Cupcake’.  This is the front.  The Birthday greeting is from ‘Happiest Birthday Wishes’ again and is coloured with the In-Color markers.  The DSP is from the ‘Sweet Shop’ pack in the Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue.

Here is the inside.  It is so cool! (Can I say that????).  There are lots of cupcakes here.

Here you can see the side-view of the Pop-Up cut-outs.

This is really simple once you work out the cutting part.  I am putting together a tutorial for you to make your own Pop-Up Cards.  I will try and finish them off and show you early next week.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a lovely weekend.  🙂

A 16TH BIRTHDAY!!

I know I said I would show you some Pop-Up cards from our recent stamping weekend but I have to interrupt the posting.  I hope you don’t mind.  🙂  Yesterday was Josh’s 16th Birthday.  He has been hanging out for this day for so long.  It means now he can get his Learner’s Permit to drive!  I wanted to show you the card I made him – and Carlie’s cards she made him.

Josh is really in to Vinyl records at the moment.  Now I have to say, I thought they went out years ago.  Apparently they never left.  Anyway, we bought him a record player for his Birthday and he has been collecting records.  He is in to Hardcore music. Now it is not just any records.  It is cool for them to be coloured.  When I went looking for inspiration for his Birthday Card I came across a card on Pinterest that I thought would be great.  (Seriously, how much inspiration is there on Pinterest!!).  Anway, I digress again.  I tracked down the original card here by Gill.  I changed this around a bit to suit Josh’s card.  I created coloured records and added a ’16’.  By the way, Josh thought it was really cool.  He already has a green record along with all the other colours he has.  A pink one is on order and he will be getting a blue one soon.  Isn’t it great when you make a card, especially for the male species, and they take note of the details.

So, here is the card.

The circles are punched out with the 1 3/8″ circle punch and the black centres are punched with the 3/4″ circle.  I punched the centres of the black circles with the Crop-A-Dile.  The coloured circles are sponged and spritzed just the way they would be on the records.

I have to show you Carlie’s card she made too.  I think she did a fantastic job and she did it completely by herself.

Carlie has used a retired stamp set ‘Play Ball’ and some retired Brilliant Blue and Orchid Opulence Cardstock.  The balls are stamped in Crumb Cake.  Don’t you love the splodge effect from ‘Extreme Elements’???

Carlie wanted to make another card too and I have to show you.  She drew this one and I think it is very clever.  (Big Brother said it was “the best”!!)

On the front of the card it says “I love you this much….”.  Now this is a standard card size to give you an idea of the size. I will show you it opened up.

It is a bit hard to see the picture but she made it on a HUGE piece of paper and it just opens out and out and out….  It shows her long arms outstretched.  I thought she was very clever, and very special, to make this for her Big Brother.

Ok, Thanks for indulging me in a little personal family post.  I will get back to the Pop-Ups next post.

See you next time,

STAMPING SESSION!!

I am so far behind in my blogging.  To try and catch up a little I am going to hit you with a lot at once.  Apologies in advance for this 🙂  A couple of weeks ago I had a lovely time with my stamping buddy, Leonie N.  It was a great little overnight visit and we accomplished a lot in 24 hours.  It’s amazing what you can achieve when you don’t have interruptions like cooking dinner or picking kids up from school!!!

I thought I might spread these out over a few days but time is getting on.  I won’t be giving long descriptions on them, but really they are so simple.  I’m sure you can work them out.  After all, we worked them out even at unearthly hours in the morning!!  Who needs sleep when you can stamp!

Here you go!

This was a card inspired by a few similar I had seen around.  (Ok, well Leonie did it first then I CASED her!)

A Scallop circle card I created for a private class I did recently.  Stamp set is “Flower Fest”.

CASED from Kim here.  I love her style.

This card was CASED from Chris here.  I used the flower from “Language of Friendship”  This was stamped first and then ran through the Square Lattice EF.  Colours are Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive – always a nice combination!

CASED from Joanna here using “Just Believe”.  This was a set I haven’t used for a while.  It was good to give it a stamp up!

I CASED this from Leonie.  I wasn’t really taken with this set “Open Sea” from the Summer Mini but it is growing on me.  The DSP is Nautical Expedition also from the Mini.

Well that about covers most of the cards we did on our stamping day.  It was a fun time and I don’t think I have made so many cards at one time.

Thanks for looking.  See you again soon.

ONE FOR THE BOYS!!

Yesterday I had my Card Class where we focused on cards for the boys.  Masculine cards are usually hard for everyone to do.  We can’t tizz them up with ribbon and bling like we do for the girls cards.  So in this class we created 2 cards and a tag.  For the boys cards sometimes we need to focus on using different techniques, add distressing and inking and you can replace the ribbon for twine.  I wanted to show you one of the cards we did in the class which was very popular.

The original card idea came from Linda here at Polka Dots and Paper.  Now I couldn’t find the card when I went back to it, but this is her original card.

I liked the idea of the embossed foil and creating the spanners with punches.  How neat is that!!!  So, here is the card we did. I simplified it a little from the original.   It was a bit hard to take a photo as you kept getting the reflection off the foil, but I think you get the general idea.

To create the foil mat, adhere regular kitchen aluminium foil to a piece of card.  I used Whisper White.  Then run the piece through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.

Then you can create your spanners.  I played around with the punches for a bit to get the right sizes.  Here are the punches used: Boho Blossoms Punch, 3/4″ Circle Punch, Word Window Punch and 1″ Circle Punch.  The strip is a piece of Crumb Cake card measuring 8cm x 1.3cm.  This was scored at 1/2 cm on the back to create the groove.  All the pieces were sponged with Soft Suede ink along the top edges.

The greeting from Teeny Tiny Sentiments was stamped in Soft Suede and punched out with the Word Window Punch, and then a piece punched out with the Modern Label Punch.  The spanners were raised up with dimensionals.  The aluminium piece was adhered to a Soft Suede mat and then Crumb Cake base.

Now I have to add that in last night’s class I had a couple of late cancellations, so instead of cancelling it Sarah dragged, bribed, or brought willingly her hubby along.  (I’m not sure which one of those it was!!!).  He was such a good sport though and even joined in.  He has a card done ready for his Dad for Father’s Day.  Well done Trevor, you did a great job.  Thanks for joining in.

I really shouldn’t be here right now.  We have our school fete on this Sunday.  I am nowhere near ready.  I haven’t done nearly as much as I wanted to and we have a family 60th today. So I better get moving.

Stop by again soon.  I love you visiting my world.  Add a comment to let me know you have been.

Have a good weekend,

GOOD-BYE “EXTREME GUITAR”

Just a quick post for you.  I have been meaning to get back here all week but it has been one of those weeks!!!  This card is one we did last week at my “Last Hurrah” class using Extreme Guitar.  I am really sad to see this stamp go.  It is so great for those teen boys.  I have used it a lot and I don’t think I will be getting rid of it in a hurry.  There are too many teens in our family so it will be getting a bit of a work-out still.

For this card I teamed it with the retiring Sanded Background stamp.  (I love that stamp too.  It works so well for male cards).  I have also used the spiral punch.  (That will be missed as well).  Here is the card for you.

Adding Extreme Elements and Short and Sweet, and tying around some twine finishes it of.  A very quick card to put together.  What a sad good-bye!

Have you got these items yet that are retiring?   There is less than a week left now of this current Catalogue. Unfortunately the Sanded Background stamp and the Spiral punch are sold out so be quick to get this Extreme Guitar stamp.  I can assure you it will be well used for those teen cards.  Don’t leave it too long though.

I am off now.  Busy day tomorrow and weekend ahead.  I will be back with more creativity early next week.  Have a good weekend and I hope you have time to stamp.

“SPONGED SAIL-AWAY!!”

Are you ready for another ‘Sail-Away’ Card???  I have another one to show you today.  Sorry if you are sick of seeing this stamp.  I am nearly finished.  This one I was inspired by Mary Brown here.  I liked how she sponged the circle for the sun and paper-pieced the sails.  I changed the rest of the card.  So….. here it is!!

To make this card, firstly I sponged the circle for the sun.  To do this I punched out a circle from a scrap piece of paper as large as the card piece.  Put the circle piece aside.  I used Dotto to fix the scrap card piece down while I sponged.  I sponged the circle in Pumpkin Pie at the top and So Saffron at the bottom.  I removed the scrap card mask and then stamped on the boat in Staz-On.  I stamped a second one on scrap Whisper White card and then cut out just the sails.  These were adhered over the top of the first boat I had stamped on the card.

Then it was just a matter of assembling the card.  I stamped on the greeting from ‘Short and Sweet’ and tied around some twine. This was then adhered to a Pumpkin Pie mat and then to a Whisper White base.  Simple!!!!

Will be back again soon.  Until then I hope you get time to stamp.

ANOTHER SAIL-AWAY!

I have another quick card to show you today using the Sail-Away Stamp.  I’m loving this stamp.  There is so much detail to the stamp, I haven’t even begun colouring it yet!!  This is a card based on one I saw on Splitcoast Stampers.

I embossed the Baja Breeze card with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  The Sailboat was stamped in Baja Breeze and then the corner torn off – very technical stuff!!  The Happy Birthday is from “Teeny Tiny Sentiments”.  Twine was wrapped around the Whisper White card and then the card was raised up with mounting tape off the Baja Breeze card.  I really liked how this card turned.  It is quite simple, yet looks stylish!

Are you getting bored with ‘Sail-Away’ Yet???  I haven’t finished showing you my projects yet!  Stop by again soon to see what else I have been doing with this stamp.  I will show you something else soon too – promise!!  🙂

To all my US blog readers – Happy 4th July!!!! I hope you all have a fantastic day celebrating!

Will be back again soon,

IT’S SURFIN’ TIME!!!

I created this card quite a few weeks ago but hadn’t got around to showing you yet.  I did a search in blog land for some ideas after I had borrowed the “Extreme Surfer” stamp from my Mother-In-Law.  I was inspired by a card I had seen on Splitcoast Stampers.  I changed the colours….and the layout….and the stamping.  Apart from that it is exactly the same!!!  I liked the idea of it on the Scallop square card.

Card: Night of Navy, Rose Red and So Saffron.

I stamped the ‘splodge’ from Extreme Elements in Whisper White on the Saffron, then stamped the surfer over the top in Night of Navy.  The ‘happy birthday’ is from “Teeny Tiny Sentiments”.  The eyelet was added to the So Saffron card and twine tied through.  It was then adhered to Rose Red card and then a base created with the Scallop Square Die on the Big Shot.  It is a fairly simple card really, just right for the boys!!!

I have been creating lots of other cards for the “boys” lately.  I hope to post those over the next week so stop by again soon.

Until next time, Happy Stamping!

ANOTHER “EXTREME” CARD!

I debated on whether to show you this card.  I have really struggled putting this together.  Sometimes what is in your head doesn’t quite come out!

I stamped the surfer in Pacific Point onto Pacific Point card and I wanted to created a white wash for the waves.  I had tried sponging but that went in the bin!!  For this one I picked up some White Craft ink with the blender pen and dotted around the water lines. I did like the result.  Then I really struggled  putting the card together.  The layout is from a Clean and Simple sketch from a short time ago.

I wanted to create a manly card and added the eyelets and twine.   The Real Red card was run through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Folder.   Not sure if it all works well though???? Maybe it is the colours??? Something is missing. What do you think???  All suggestions gratefully received.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by.

Enjoy your day,

Jenny xx

EXTREME SURFER MAKE & TAKE!!

I can’t believe how quickly these weekends fly by!  The start of another week.  I have been wanting to get back here to show you another of my ‘Extreme Elements’ cards I have been playing around with lately.  This card was a Make and Take we did at a workshop a couple of weeks ago now.

I think this is one of the first times I have used Pacific Point.  I think it teams really well with Baja Breeze.  I stamped the images from Extreme Elements over the front of the Baja Breeze base.  The splodge was stamped in Baja Breeze onto Whisper White and then overstamped with the ‘Extreme Surfboard’ in Pacific Point and then layered onto Pacific Point cardstock.  The greeting is from Short and Sweet.  It was  punched out with the Word Window Punch and then a piece was punched out from Pacific Point with the Modern Label Punch.  This was then layered with dimensionals onto the card.  The original design for the card came from Splitcoast Stampers.  I modified it a bit to make it simpler for a Make and Take card.

I really love the ‘Extreme Elements’ stampset.  They are a great addition for those “Hard-to-do” Male cards!  I have had fun playing around with them.  I have another card I have made which I will show you next time.  I’m not so sure about that one though!

I hope you have a great week ahead – and fill it with lots of stamping!!!
