EASTER TREAT CUP BOX!

In the last post I showed you the projects we did for my recent Easter Gift Packaging class.  I have put together a tutorial to create the little Treat Cup box.  Measurements are in Metric.

1) Cut card 29.5cmx18.5cm. On the 29.5cm side score at 7cm, 14cm, 21cm and 28cm. On the 18.5cm side score at 5cm, 10cm and 17cm.

2) Cut top 3 squares and 3 rectangles from the right. Cut the small square and 1.5cm rectangle at the top left and 1 at the bottom left. Cut at each 7cm score lines on the bottom up to the 1st 5cm score line in the opposite direction.  This is how it should look now.

3) Stamp or use a roller wheel on the middle section to decorate. Fold all score lines to form firm creases.  Don’t assemble the box yet.

4) Punch 1 3/4” circle on the top square. This is your flap. TIP: To centre the circle, punch out a circle on scrap card and place it on the centre of flap. Trace around with a pencil.  Turn the punch upside down and line up the punch over the circle and punch it out.  See the photo below on tracing the circle on the DSP piece.

5) Place adhesive on narrow strip on the sides of the box and bottom flaps and fold it up. Adhere side pieces together and bottom flaps. This forms your box. Use a corner rounder punch on the flap to neaten corners if desired. Remove adhesive strip on the treat cup and adhere treat cup to the  top of the box.

6) Cut DSP square piece 6.2cmx6.2cm and adhere to contrasting card piece 6.6cmx6.6cm. Punch circle out with 1 3/4” circle punch. To ensure the circle is centred trace a circle using scrap card piece before punching. See in the photo below.

7) Adhere this piece to the top flap over the treat cup. Decorate box as desired.  On this box I had stamped the small retro star from ‘Hello Again’ then I punched out ovals using the large oval punch from various pieces from the Kaleidoscope DSP.  I sponged the edges of these and layered them onto the front of the box.  The greeting is from the Sale-A-Bration set ‘Happy Moments’.  This was punched out using the Word Window Punch and mounted with mounting tape.

Here is the finished box!!

I hope these make sense if you have any questions, just ask me!!!

I’m sure you could whip several of these up in time for Easter or for any occasion.  Enjoy!

EASTER TREATS!!!

Two weeks ago I held my Easter Gift Packaging Classes.  These were the projects they all got to make.

There were 2 Easter cards, a Chocolate Treat Slider and a Treat Cup Box.  I used the Kaleidoscope DSP in the Summer Mini (which by the way, there is only just over 1 week left so you better stock up on this paper and any of the other goodies in the Mini Catalogue!).  I picked out the colours in the papers so it is not the usual pastel colours you might normally use for Easter.  I think they are bright and funky!  I didn’t have any Easter stamps so I had to think outside the square – or oval as the case may be!  LOL

For the first card and the Treat Pull, I used the Sale-A-Bration set ‘Vintage Labels’.

For the card I stamped and heat embossed the oval frame in Gold Embossing Powder onto Tempting Turquoise and then punched it out with the Wide Oval Punch.  I tied a bow with Tempting Turquoise Grosgrain ribbon.  This was mounted on Whisper White and the edges sponged with Certainly Celery Ink.  It was then matted on Certainly Celery card.  Before adhering it to the base Turquoise card I stamped the bottom edge with the small flowers from ‘Short and Sweet’.  I scalloped the edge of the Pink Passion card strip with the eyelet border punch.  I stamped and embossed in Gold EP the words “Best Wishes” from the ‘Vintage Labels’ set.  Added a strip of Certainly Celery card behind it and adhered it to the base card.

You might have seen these chocolate treat sliders/pulls around on other blogs.  I found when I made one up it was so tiny you could only fit a chocolate in about the size of the credit card.  Now that is not good enough!!!! So, as usual I adjusted all the measurements to fit a larger size chocolate bar.  If you want the metric measurements for this then email me.

I stamped the cardstock  for the treat pull before assembling.  It is so much easier let me tell you!!!!!  I wrapped around a strip of the Kaleidoscope DSP that I had punched the edges with the eyelet border punch.  I stamped the circle label from ‘Vintage Labels’ in Turquoise on Turquoise card and punched it out using the scallop circle punch.  I stamped it again in Glorious Green onto Gable Green and punched it out with the 1″ circle punch.  These were layered with mounting tape. I punched out a slot with the horizontal slot punch and threaded the Tempting Turquoise grosgrain ribbon through.  This is such a great gift for someone – and so simple!!!

Here is the second card and the treat box.

The second card I punched out 3 ovals with the large oval punch from various pieces of the Kaleidoscope DSP.  I sponged the edges with matching inks and adhered them to the Whisper White card.  The edges were sponged in Regal Rose ink.  This was mounted on Regal Rose cardstock.  I created the fringe to resemble grass from Certainly Celery cardstock and then stamped the “For You” on the strip.  I added a strip of the Kaleidoscope DSP  onto the base Tempting Turquoise card and paper pierced along the top.  It is hard to see that, I know!!! This card is  just like an Easter Egg Hunt card!

The box I created myself.  I wanted to used the Treat Cups in someway for Easter.  It is a very simple box and I added the treat Cup to the top so you can see the yummy Easter eggs inside.  OK, so it is empty.  Believe me they were yummy!!!  Stamp the cardstock before assembling and you can decorate it as you like.

I am planning to put together a tutorial for this box so stop by in the next day or so.  In the meantime, Happy Stamping!!

SWEET TREAT PENCILS!!!

I have had these here waiting to show you for a while.  I was really pleased with the idea.  I was inspired for this idea from Marnie. She made these cute party favours with sticks. I thought instead of sticks I would try pencils.

I have used the skulls from ‘Just Jawing’.  I have put together a tutorial to show you how they are done.

1. Stamp the skull in Basic Black on cardstock.  I used Pink Passion and Real Red for my 2 skull pencils.  Cut around the stamped image.  Cut 2 squares from Whisper White Cardstock measuring 6cm.

From one square punch a circle using the 1 3/4″  circle punch.  From the other square punch a circle using the 1 1/4″ circle punch.   To make sure these were centred I first punched circles from scrap card and traced around these on the cardstock.

Round all the corners of both squares.  Punch a circle from the centre of the skull.  To ensure this would be centred on the skull I traced lightly around the scrap 1 3/4″ circle in pencil and then I could line up the punch.  I stamped the text on a strip of Whisper White card and then used the 1 1/4″square punch to create the flag notches.

2.  Remove the adhesive from the treat cup and centre this over the white square with the smaller circle.  Adhere the skull to the other square.

3.  Fill the cup with your treats.  Adhere these 2 pieces together with Snail Adhesive or Sticky Strip.  Use the punched out circle from the 1 3/4″ circle and adhere this over the hole.

4.  I placed a piece of Sticky Strip onto the end of the pencil and adhered this to the back of the skull.  Rub over the pencil several times to ensure that it is secure.  It should hold quite well though.

5.  I cut out the eyes from the skull and added some 2 way glue and Dazzling Diamonds and placed this on top.  For the red ones I punched out 2 small stars from the Real Red card.  I added some eyes with a black marker and then added dots with a white gel pen.  I adhered the text banner with some sticky strip.

Wouldn’t these make great favours for a kid’s Birthday Party or for a craft stall?  What do you think?  If you don’t have the skull you could try flowers or something else.

Hope you’re enjoying your New Years Break.  I will be back soon with some more catch-up projects.   🙂

SECRET SANTA!!

Last night we had the last team meeting for the year.  It has been such a fun year, filled with lots of inspiration.  As part of our end of year activities we had a Secret Santa.  That was fun!  I can show you now what I made for my Secret Santa gift.  I have seen these on blog land and have wanted to have a go for a while.  I picked up this glass jar from a discount shop and silver embossed the metal lid.

This is how it turned out.

I used the pattern from Baroque Motifs.  To emboss, make sure you use the embossing buddy over the top of the lid.  Ink up the stamp with versamark and stamp on the lid.  Then sprinkle over the silver embossing powder and tip off  the excess. It seems to create a lot of static and has lots of stray powder so use a fine paintbrush to brush off the excess.  Heat the image as you normally do for embossing.  Just a word of warning!  The lid gets very hot so be careful.  Leave it on the table to heat and let it cool slightly.  (Don’t ask how I know that LOL).

I added a Rhinestone brad to the centre with Sticky Strip.  I pulled apart the arms of the brad and lifted off the back to remove the rhinestone.  I wrapped around some Double Stitched Grosgrain around the lid and filled it with choccies and Voila! – Instant Gift.  Here is the finished result.  It was very hard getting a decent photo as there was so much reflection from the lid and the glass.

I added a cellophane bag with some ribbon samples and was quite pleased with the result.  I think I will be heading off to my discount shop to buy a few more of these jars.  They make such quick gifts.

Having trouble coming up with some Christmas Gifts still, why not give one of these a go!!  (Don’t forget to test the chocolates before filling!!!!)

THE SUMMER MINI IS OUT!!!!

If you have just arrived here from Gail’s blog on your blog hop; then Welcome  🙂   If you have just joined in then let me fill you in!  I am a member of  an online YAHOO group – ESAD-SU.  This stands for EXTRA SPECIAL AUSTRALIAN DEMONSTRATORS FOR STAMPIN’ UP!   This group is for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators in Australia and New Zealand and provides great support, information and often challenges, swaps and cyberstamps.  If you are a demonstrator and haven’t joined in yet why not stop by.  Now I’m not sure of the address but I’m sure when you stop by the next stop at Leonie’s then she will have all the details there.

This blog hop is to showcase the fantastic new products in the Summer Mini Catalogue released TODAY!!  How exciting!!  On this blog hop there are 30 blogs for you to visit.  Each one will show a  different project.  Now you can go in the draw to win some great blog candy by visiting all these blogs.  What you need to do is stop by EACH one and leave a comment on EACH blog.  Then email Leonie at leonie@stamp-a-latte.com to let her know you have completed the hop and left a comment with everyone. If you want to start at the first one on the blog hop then go back to Amy’s blog and make your way to each one from the link at the end of each blog.  You can join in at any point though.  Just make sure you keep track of where you have visited and don’t forget to leave a comment!!!!!

Now enough of all the details, let’s get on with showing you my project.  I am using the new Sweet Treat Cups (*116802).  These are fun little plastic cups that you can add to your cards or projects with an extra treat inside.  You might put some lollies inside or you might add a small toy or hairclips or something like that.  These little cups come with an adhesive strip on the bottom side.  What I found though was that you put so much work into your project or card and it is destroyed in 5 seconds with the person trying to quickly get the treat out.  I looked around the internet for a bit and there were variations of pull tabs so the person could slide the treat out.  So I came up with what I call the “Treat Cups Pocket”. I used the new set ‘Hello Again’ which is great value at $21.95 for 5 cute little stamps.

The Hello Tab sits in the pocket and pulls up to get to the treats, like this below.

I stamped the flower from this set on scrap Whisper White card several times. I cut 3 of the flowers out and adhered these to the front of the pocket and then cut just the centres out from 3 others. I added some 2 way glue and dazzling diamonds to the centre of the flowers, but you can’t see the bling on these photos.

The circle is punched out on the inside so the treats can fall out.  Just warn the person receiving one of these that they come out quickly!!!!

Here is the inside view.

The right side of the card is in shadow a bit so you can’t see that too well – Sorry about that!  I stamped the flower in Ruby Red straight on the card and then stamped the flower again on scrap card in Chocolate Chip.  I cut just the centre out and raised it on dimensionals.  I stamped the text from ‘Upsy Daisy’ in Chocolate Chip.

RECIPE:

Stamps: Hello Again, Upsy Daisy.

Card: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, Whisper White.  Baja Breeze Patterns Designer Series Paper.

Ink: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red.

Other: 1 3/4″ (4.4cm) Circle Punch, Circle Tab Punch, Corner Rounder Punch, 2 way glue, Dazzling Diamonds, Mounting Tape and don’t forget the sweets of your choice.

I would love to include a tutorial on how to make these but I might need to save that for another day.  It is time now for you to move on to the next stop on your journey.  I’d like you to stop by now at Lovely Leonie’s blog where I think she will show you something special with another great stamp set.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you will stop by again soon.  (Don’t forget to leave your comment to be eligible for entry into the blog candy draw!)

ANOTHER BOX!!!

You might have seen these stationery boxes around on your blog travels.

(It’s a bit hard to get a good photo of it opened as there is so much to include!!! )

I got this idea from Jackie Topa.  It is a great little Stationery Set that folds up into a neat box.  I converted all the measurements to metric, but then Australian card sizes are different to the U.S. and our cards don’t fit.  So, then I adjusted the measurements.  It took a little working, BUT we got there!!!  Maybe somewhere in blogland someone has already done that and could have saved me a job, but ANYWAY it’s all done now!!!!

I did a class today to make these.  It was quite an involved project as there are lots of different steps along the way. I did change a couple of things.  I made separate pockets on the base to fit the booklet and the stamp envelope in.  This way they can be taken out to use.

This would make a great Christmas Gift for someone special.  The set includes 4 standard cards and envelopes, 4 love note cards and 4 tags; along with the stamp envelope and notebook.

If you would like the instructions for this Stationery Set with the Australian Sized measurements, then drop me an email at jghayward@yahoo.com and I will send one out to you.

Till next time,  Happy Stamping!!

“A GREAT FRIEND” BOX!

I had mentioned in a previous post of the great time some of our team had stamping together last weekend.  I still laugh when I think of some of the silly things we got up to!  I haven’t had much time this week to finish off some of the projects we did.  But, I thought I would show you these little boxes I had made.  I made 2 as Thank You’s, one for Leonie Schroder who came down from Sydney and one for Leonie Newman whose place we stayed at.

PICT1656

These are little pizza boxes and I have made a number of these over the last few months.  They are so quick to make.  I got the pattern from splitcoast stampers.  For these ones I adjusted the size a little so it would fit the small boxes of chocolates.  On the front I used a small square of Urban Garden DSP.  One was in Certainly Celery matted on Certainly Celery Cardstock and the other in Baja Breeze, matted in Baja Breeze.  I stamped up the frame from “Great Friend” in Chocolate Chip on the Whisper White and added the “For You” greeting.  I cut it out on the inside line of the frame.  I stamped up the frame again in Chocolate Chip card and cut that out on the outside line. The butterfly was inked up in the celery or Baja Breeze  and then rock and rolled in Chocolate Chip.  This was cut out, and I added some Dazzling Diamonds with the 2 way Glue pen.  I added some Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon to finish it off.

PICT1657

Here is a close up of the dazzling butterfly.

PICT1658

Don’t you just love this butterfly!!!!

On the weekend we talked a bit about setting up a blog.  Now 2 of the girls have just started up their blogs.  I would love you to pop on over and say hello to them and encourage them.  It is very overwhelming getting one started so go and see their beautiful creations.

We have Leonie Newman and Jennifer Gray.  Way to go girls!!!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to be back soon.  It is hard with school holidays to get time to pop by, but I will try to very soon.

Happy Stamping!!

WHAT A WEEKEND!!!

I have just had the bestest weekend.  A group of girls from our team got together for a fun time of stamping.  I don’t know if there was a lot of stamping going on but there were lots of laughs, lots of chocolate, lots more chocolate.  I don’t think I have laughed that much in ages!!  It was a great time.  The very talented and lovely Leonie Shroder came along.  I learnt so much from her.  I have a lot of unfinished projects.  Probably too much laughing and chocolate breaks! So I will have to finish those up and show you.  Leonie showed us these little bags.  They are little sack purses. They are so gorgeous.  She set them as a challenge on the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator’s forum ESAD a while ago.  I did make one that I showed you here.  I think this one is so much better.  Isn’t the papers just gorgeous?? This is the Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Paper.  It is slightly thicker than the regular paper and is textured.   It is just beautiful. And of course, using ‘A Great Friend’.

If you haven’t stopped by Leonie’s blog yet, you must do.  She has some gorgeous creations.

So just a quick one today.  Hope you have time for stamping today!

IT’S A MATCHBOX!!

As I had said in my previous post I wanted to show you how to make these little matchboxes.  They are so cute and soooo easy to make!

When I went looking on the internet, a number of sites had tutorials to make them but they were a little more involved.  The instructions for this originally came from the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator website.  The measurements were in inches so I converted them to metric.  I made the first one up and took the photos for this tutorial.  I found there was a lot of leftover cardstock though and because I had to make so many I wanted to be a bit more economical with the cardstock.  So I adjusted the measurements to get more out of 1 sheet.  So here goes!  These measurements will allow you to get 4 boxes out of 1 sheet of cardstock.  You will get a number of outside cases from 1 sheet of the paper.

MATCHBOX GIFT BOXES

1 piece of cardstock – 10.5cmx10.5cm

1 strip of Designer Series Paper – 21cmx5.5

Score the square of cardstock at 2.8cm on each side.  Cut up to the score lines on two opposite sides.

Score the DSP strip at 5.2cm, 8.2cm, 13.4cm and 16.4cm.

Fold and crease on all the score lines.  This is how it should look like.

PICT1560

Adhere the 2 flaps on each end and fold together to form a box.

Fold up the strip.  Place adhesive on one end and adhere to the other end overlapping the ends.  (I hope that makes sense!!)

The box should fit snuggly into the outside cover like this.

PICT1562

You can decorate the top as you like.  This is the one that I had made.

PICT1610

While I was blurfing around I came across this clever idea by Rachel.  She put a number of these little matchboxes together to create  great little storage drawers.  Now I just went with one side.  Of course, mine doesn’t look as exquisite as Rachel’s but what a clever idea!

PICT1602

Make up the boxes as the instructions then adhere the 3 together using Sticky Strip.  I have added some Pretty in Pink Designer Flower Brads.
Aren’t these so cute though?? Any little girl would love to put her trinkets in one of these.  Or, maybe put a chocolate or a small gift in each drawer  for someone.  The possibilities!!!!!

I would love to see your creations.  Make one up and send me a link or a photo and I can show them here.

3D projects, Stampin' Up!

FOR MY HOSTESSES!!

Saturday was my Hostess Appreciation Day.  I wanted a special day to say Thanks to all my lovely hostesses who have held workshops for me.  A number of them couldn’t come for various reasons, which is a shame so I will be catching up with them very soon 🙂

I wanted to make a special project for them.  Many of them have eyed off the shoe that I have, so I thought that would be special.  What girls don’t like bags and shoes!!!  This is what they all got to make.

PICT1599

The shoe template is originally from Ness. The bag template is from the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator website. I cut the flap off this (because it wouldn’t fit on the size card!) and then I added it separately. The small and large flower on the shoe and bag are from ‘Baroque Motifs’. I stamped these in versamark and heat embossed in silver embossing powder. I think they make a nice set. I just need to make a 2nd shoe to make a matching pair!!

Card: Baja Breeze, Whisper White.
Ink: Baja Breeze, Versamark.
Stamps: Baroque Motifs, So Swirly Wheel.
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Adhesive, Dimensionals.

As a Thank You I made this little gift for them.

These are little Matchbox Gift Boxes. They are so cute and so quick to make!! I am making up a tutorial for you and will show you in the next post.
Stamps: A Great Friend.
Card:     Rose Red, Cameo Coral, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart DSP.
Other:   Adhesive, Bone Folder, Dazzling Diamonds.

Not sure if you can see the bling on the butterfly very well. It is very sparkly!! In the boxes I had some Choc Chip double stitched ribbon and some designer flower brads for them.

If you want any more information about the bag and shoe just let me know. If you want to come along to my ‘Hostess Day’ next year then contact me about having a workshop.

I’ll be back soon with these little matchbox tutorials.

Have a good day 🙂
