TREAT CUP STARS!!

We had a joint team Summer Mini Launch last week which was a lot of fun. Thanks to Ness who organised it all. Each demonstrator had their own table with their guests and did their own Make and Takes at  the table. Here is photo of my group hard at work.

This is one of the Make and Takes we did. Many of them wanted to see how the treat cups worked. I thought this was a fun card for young kiddies and it uses lots of different punches.

I used the spiral punch along a thin strip of black card and adhered this to the back of Only Orange card piece. Another thin piece of black was adhered to the bottom. I adhered the Orange card to the Green Galore card base with 2 way glue once it had dried so it was easy to remove. I punched a circle using the 1 3/4″ circle punch through the both layers. Just a Tip: Sometimes it is hard to punch through both, so punch it first on the Orange and then line up the card on the Green base and draw a light circle in pencil. You can then line up the circle punch over the pencil circle and punch that out. I stuck the treat cup onto the green base card and then adhered the Orange over this. I punched out some stars and adhered them to the front. The smaller ones I mounted with dimensionals. I used the greeting from Just Jawing (borrowed from my daughter!!)and stamped this in Basic Black onto Whisper White strip. I used the square punch to create flag notches on the ends. You don’t want your good work destroyed in seconds with the receiver in a hurry to get to the goodies, so I created a little flap to fit on the back.

The little flap measures 9cmx5.5cm and scored at 1.5cm. Place adhesive on the small scored section and adhere this below the punched out circle. Fill the cup with treats and fold up the flap. I adhered this with snail but sticky strip would hold better. At least they might destroy the flap but not the card, HEY!!!
These are such fun to make, so why not give one a go. Of course, as you make these remember to ALWAYS  taste test what goes into your Treat Cups!!! LOL
Enjoy your day 🙂

THE SUMMER MINI IS OUT!!!!

If you have just arrived here from Gail’s blog on your blog hop; then Welcome  🙂   If you have just joined in then let me fill you in!  I am a member of  an online YAHOO group – ESAD-SU.  This stands for EXTRA SPECIAL AUSTRALIAN DEMONSTRATORS FOR STAMPIN’ UP!   This group is for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators in Australia and New Zealand and provides great support, information and often challenges, swaps and cyberstamps.  If you are a demonstrator and haven’t joined in yet why not stop by.  Now I’m not sure of the address but I’m sure when you stop by the next stop at Leonie’s then she will have all the details there.

This blog hop is to showcase the fantastic new products in the Summer Mini Catalogue released TODAY!!  How exciting!!  On this blog hop there are 30 blogs for you to visit.  Each one will show a  different project.  Now you can go in the draw to win some great blog candy by visiting all these blogs.  What you need to do is stop by EACH one and leave a comment on EACH blog.  Then email Leonie at leonie@stamp-a-latte.com to let her know you have completed the hop and left a comment with everyone. If you want to start at the first one on the blog hop then go back to Amy’s blog and make your way to each one from the link at the end of each blog.  You can join in at any point though.  Just make sure you keep track of where you have visited and don’t forget to leave a comment!!!!!

Now enough of all the details, let’s get on with showing you my project.  I am using the new Sweet Treat Cups (*116802).  These are fun little plastic cups that you can add to your cards or projects with an extra treat inside.  You might put some lollies inside or you might add a small toy or hairclips or something like that.  These little cups come with an adhesive strip on the bottom side.  What I found though was that you put so much work into your project or card and it is destroyed in 5 seconds with the person trying to quickly get the treat out.  I looked around the internet for a bit and there were variations of pull tabs so the person could slide the treat out.  So I came up with what I call the “Treat Cups Pocket”. I used the new set ‘Hello Again’ which is great value at $21.95 for 5 cute little stamps.

The Hello Tab sits in the pocket and pulls up to get to the treats, like this below.

I stamped the flower from this set on scrap Whisper White card several times. I cut 3 of the flowers out and adhered these to the front of the pocket and then cut just the centres out from 3 others. I added some 2 way glue and dazzling diamonds to the centre of the flowers, but you can’t see the bling on these photos.

The circle is punched out on the inside so the treats can fall out.  Just warn the person receiving one of these that they come out quickly!!!!

Here is the inside view.

The right side of the card is in shadow a bit so you can’t see that too well – Sorry about that!  I stamped the flower in Ruby Red straight on the card and then stamped the flower again on scrap card in Chocolate Chip.  I cut just the centre out and raised it on dimensionals.  I stamped the text from ‘Upsy Daisy’ in Chocolate Chip.

RECIPE:

Stamps: Hello Again, Upsy Daisy.

Card: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, Whisper White.  Baja Breeze Patterns Designer Series Paper.

Ink: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red.

Other: 1 3/4″ (4.4cm) Circle Punch, Circle Tab Punch, Corner Rounder Punch, 2 way glue, Dazzling Diamonds, Mounting Tape and don’t forget the sweets of your choice.

I would love to include a tutorial on how to make these but I might need to save that for another day.  It is time now for you to move on to the next stop on your journey.  I’d like you to stop by now at Lovely Leonie’s blog where I think she will show you something special with another great stamp set.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you will stop by again soon.  (Don’t forget to leave your comment to be eligible for entry into the blog candy draw!)

SWAP TIME!!!

Where is the time going? The weeks are flying by.  I haven’t been able to post as frequently lately.  I have been very busy.  Saturday was the Sydney Stampin’ Up! Regional event.  This was my first one and it was so exciting!  It was great to meet up with lots of demos and be inspired by so many creative people.  One of the fun parts is swapping with other demos.  It’s great getting lots of new ideas.  I can’t show you the other swaps just yet, but I can show you mine.

This card was inspired by a card I saw on Splitcoast, but now I just can’t find it.  I have been through there so many times.  So, let me know if you see one similar 🙂

Card: Elegant Eggplant, Rose Red, Old Olive, Whisper White.

Ink: Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant Inkpad and Marker.

Stamps: Thoughts and Prayers, Upsy Daisy.

Other:  1 1/4″ Circle Punch, Large Oval Punch, Sponge, Dimensionals, Crimper.

After I stamped the tree from Thoughts and Prayers, I masked a circle and sponged lightly in the circle with the Elegant Eggplant Ink.  Then used the fine point on the marker and dotted around the circle.  Ipunched 2 ovals from the large oval punch and layered them under the Whisper White oval that I had stamped the greeting on.  I mounted them up on dimensionals.  I crimped the Rose Red strip and swiped the Elegant Eggplant inkpad over to pick up the ink on the crimped edge.

Hope you like!!  🙂

Must run.  Stop by again soon.

ANOTHER BOX!!!

You might have seen these stationery boxes around on your blog travels.

(It’s a bit hard to get a good photo of it opened as there is so much to include!!! )

I got this idea from Jackie Topa.  It is a great little Stationery Set that folds up into a neat box.  I converted all the measurements to metric, but then Australian card sizes are different to the U.S. and our cards don’t fit.  So, then I adjusted the measurements.  It took a little working, BUT we got there!!!  Maybe somewhere in blogland someone has already done that and could have saved me a job, but ANYWAY it’s all done now!!!!

I did a class today to make these.  It was quite an involved project as there are lots of different steps along the way. I did change a couple of things.  I made separate pockets on the base to fit the booklet and the stamp envelope in.  This way they can be taken out to use.

This would make a great Christmas Gift for someone special.  The set includes 4 standard cards and envelopes, 4 love note cards and 4 tags; along with the stamp envelope and notebook.

If you would like the instructions for this Stationery Set with the Australian Sized measurements, then drop me an email at jghayward@yahoo.com and I will send one out to you.

Till next time,  Happy Stamping!!

DAY 2 OF CHRISTMAS CARD BUFFET!!

As promised here are the other cards from my Christmas Card Buffet.

Card 3.

 PICT1836

This was the most popular card of the day. The baubles were stamped first on the card in More Mustard and then on scrap Whisper White card in Ruby Red.  These ones were cut out and mounted over the More Mustard baubles.  I added some 2 way glue on the intersecting points on the baubles and sprinkled over some Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  Gotta love bling for Christmas!!!!

Card 4

PICT1837

I added the 2 way glue and dazzling diamonds on the stars on top of the trees but you just can’t see that in the photo.

Card 5

PICT1838

This one I stamped the “Jingle all the Way” on the Whisper White in Real Red and then again on scrap Whisper White.  I cut the bell out and mounted it on with mounting tape, adding some more bling.  It’s a shame you can’t see the sparkle on these cards!!!

Here is the recipes for them all:

IT’S A CHRISTMAS CARD BUFFET!!!

Well, It’s only taken a week to get back here!!! Sorry about that!  Life is a whirlwind at the moment – and it’s only going to get busier over the next few weeks.  But I did say I would show you the cards we did at my Christmas Card Buffet.  It was a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed it – I think??

There were 5 different cards and everyone could make a number of the cards they wanted.  When designing the cards they needed to be simple so everyone could make them without me demonstrating.  They needed to be quick to do, for people to make multiples of them. And, I needed to design them so each of them used different stamps so there was no doubling up of stamps.  I designed them so that cards 1 and 2 used similar size pieces and cards 3 and 4 used similar sized pieces.  That helped in cutting on the day for when people ordered the cards they chose to make.  I didn’t want to have too much cut in advance so that there wouldn’t be a lot left over.  These cards were inspired by many cards I have seen recently.  I have put various parts of these into creating these cards.

So, here is Card 1 and Card 2.

After I have shown you all the cards I will give you the card recipes.  (To make your life easier!!!)

I will be back very soon, so come back and see the other cards.

Enjoy your day 🙂

TAG TIME!!!

Wow!  What a weekend I’ve had.  It was so busy with stamping things, but it was such a great time.  On Saturday I had my Christmas Card Buffet.  I was not sure how that would go BUT I think everyone had a great time, and enjoyed the cards they made.  I will show you the cards, but first I thought I would show you the little tags I made.  I made different ones and then bundled them in little cellophane bags I had stamped.  I used these as little giveaways.

PICT1797

PICT1800

(There are other tags on the other side, I didn’t take a photo of that side!!)

I’ll give you the measurements for the tags so you can make your own!

Large Tags:

Base colour: 9cm x 4.5cm                             Whisper White: 8.6cm x 4.1cm

I used the 1.9cm (3/4″) circle punch to create the little tab at the end.  With the Crop -A-Dile I punched a hole through to tie on the ribbon.  I used Bashful Blue, Handsome Hunter and Real Red.  The ornaments from “‘Tree Trimmings” and the flower from “Season of Joy’ were stamped on scrap card, cut and raised with mounting tape.  I added some bling with the 2 way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds.  (Gotta have bling for Christmas!)

Oval Tags:

Punch an oval using the wide oval punch.  I sponged the edges and then stapled on some ribbon.  The ornaments from “Tree Trimmings” were stamped on scrap card, then cut and mounted onto the oval. I added the bling to these too.

EASY and SUPERQUICK!!!  They had to be since I didn’t have much time.

I’ll pop back soon and show you the cards we made.  Hope you visit again soon.

SOME RANDOM CARDS!!!

Now,  I hope you’re sitting carefully on your chair because I have something to tell you.  I don’t want you falling off.  These cards I am going to show you ARE NOT using ‘Great Friend’ Stampset!!!!! It’s Ok Lynda, you can breathe!!!  I thought I needed to ink up some other sets.  My poor ‘Great Friend’ set is nearly worn out.  I’ve lost count of  how many times I have cut that little butterfly and the frame out.

This first card is using ‘A Rose is a Rose’ set that I borrowed.  I was playing around with it.  I have to say this is about the only decent card I ended up with.  I thought afterwards that I should have embossed the outline image.  That would have made it ‘pop’ out.  Maybe when I borrow this set again I will try that!!! Maybe I should even take a better picture!!!!!!

A rose is a rose

I stamped the centre in Regal Rose and then lined up the outline with the SAJ (Stamp -A- Ma- Jig) and stamped that in Rose Red.  I inked up the inside leaves with Old Olive and stamped it off on scrap paper and then stamped it on the card.  I inked up the outline in Old Olive and stamped that on the leaves lining it up with the SAJ.  I adhered it to the Rose Red card and punched a slot with the slot punch and threaded through the ribbon.  Adhered this onto the base with the Raspberry Tart DSP piece.  I think I could have layered the rose a bit more too.  Mmmm!  I will have to borrow that set again!!

Card: Old Olive, Rose Red, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart DSP.

Ink: Regal Rose, Rose Red, Old Olive.

Stamps: A Rose is a Rose, Short and Sweet.

Other: Horizontal slot punch, Old Olive grosgrain ribbon.

The next card uses the hostess set “Live like you Mean it”.  This was the first time I had played with it.  It was a quick card.

Live flower

I stamped the flower in Regal Rose and then the flower outline in Rose Red.  I adhered this to a Certainly Celery mat, stapled a piece of Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon. I had adhered a piece of Raspberry Tart DSP to the Rose Red card base and adhered the stamped piece onto this.  I stamped up the greeting from ‘short and sweet’ inRose Red onto Certainly Celery card and punched it out using the Word Window Punch.  I mounted this with dimensionals on the card.

Stamps: Live Like you Mean it, Short and Sweet.

Ink: Regal Rose, Rose Red.

Card: Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart DSP.

Other: Word Window punch, Certainly Celery Grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals, stapler.

There you have it!!  Thanks for Looking!  I hope you have time to stamp today!  As for me I have to run.  I have a workshop tonight, a Girls Night In event tomorrow and my Christmas Card Buffet on Saturday.  So a busy time ahead!  Stop by again soon!

PUNCH SWAPS!!

This month’s team swap was to use punches!  Last month was a non-stamping swap and I had chosen to use punches then.  This is the little ballerina I made.  After a big project with that one I thought I would keep this one nice and simple.  So this was my card.

PICT1767

I cased this from this year’s Stampin’ Up! Catalogue on p141.  I just changed it a little.  I liked the simplicity of the card and think it is a great one to do multiple copies for Christmas Cards.  As it was I made a lot of them for the swaps!  I like the effect of the punched out small star in the larger star.  To do this, first punch out the small star from your cardstock.  Make sure you leave room around it.  Then turn the large star upside down and place it in your cardstock.  That is the great thing with the Stampin’ Up! punches that you can see what you are doing from underneath the punch.  Line the large punch up around the smaller star so it is even – and then punch it out!  It is great.  You can do this with any different size punches such as the circles and ovals. I added a row of paper piercing and some staples.  I like using the staples they just add another dimension on the card.  This is what I have used.

Stamps: Short and Sweet.

Card: Baja Breeze, Real Red, Old Olive, Ski Slope DSP.

Ink: Real Red.

Other: Small and large star punches, dimensionals, paper piercer and mat, stapler.

Well, my card was pretty boring compared to some of the other team cards.  Here are some very clever creations.
