MONEY HOLDER FOR THE BOYS!

Hope life is going well in your corner of the world??  Here it is cold and windy – but I guess you have to expect that for this time of year.  Yesterday was my gorgeous boy’s 18th Birthday.  I can’t believe how the time has flown.  I thought I would show you the card and gift I made for him.

You might recognise the card???

P1130120

I used this card for my Convention swap a few month’s ago.  Josh loves vinyl records so thought this idea would be really cool for him.  I used the Circle Thinlets Die to cut the Smoky Slate card base.  I used the Music Notes wheel (now retired) to run over the card in Black Stazon.  The black circle was punched with the 2 1/2″ circle Punch and the white inner circle was punched out with the 1 1/4″ circle.  The small black circle was punched with the 2 step Owl Punch.  The ‘YAY’ is cut from Real Red card using the little extras in the Circle Thinlets set.  I could have used the Chevrons in the set too but these ones were punched with the Chevron Border punch.  The ’18’ is cut using the ‘Timeless Type’ Die (now retired).   I stamped the streaks in Smoky Slate from ‘Gorgeous Grunge’ too.

Here is a close-up.  Josh thought it was pretty cool and even at 18 had fun flipping it! 😉

Here is the inside with just a simple “Happy Birthday” from ‘Fabulous Phrases’.

P1130127

I forgot to take a photo of the Money Holder on it’s own but you can see it in the photo at the top. For this I followed the theme of the Vinyl Record.  I stamped over the front of the card using the streaks and splodges from ‘Gorgeous Grunge’.  The stars were punched from the new ‘Itty Bitty Accents’ pack and the greeting is from ‘Label Love’.  Here is the inside of the Money Holder.  I added some more streaks and stars.

I will give you directions so you can make your own Money Holder.  They can just add a little extra to the gift rather than just adding it inside the card.  I didn’t take step-by-step photos but I think it is fairly straight forward  – I hope 🙂

MONEY HOLDER   (The finished pocket is 16cm long)

SOUTH PACIFIC STAMPIN’ UP! CONVENTION IS STARTING!!!

YAY! I am a little excited.  By the time you read this I should be in Melbourne ready for the South Pacific Stampin’ Up! Convention.  There will be so many inspiring new ideas, some sneak peeks of new products and best of all meeting up with Demonstrators from Australia and New Zealand. It’s great to finally meet face to face after chatting and sharing comments online on various groups.  There are so many inspiring Demonstrators around here.

Another fun part of Convention is swapping.  It’s a great way of getting new ideas and seeing different ways of using a stamp set or other tool.  I thought I would share the swaps I made today.

The first one is CASED from a clever Demonstrator (Michelle) on a Facebook group I am on.  I loved the idea of it.

P1110923

This is such a clever idea but so simple!!! Just cut the sheet of card length ways, score in half, then on one half cut it in half. Done!!  Decorate as you like.  I will show you photos of them individually.  Sorry about the lighting.  It was bad weather when I took the photos a couple of weeks ago and I have only just noticed, but it gives you an idea.

Here is a view with it open to give you an idea.

The next card was CASED from Dawn Olchefske. I can’t find the card on her blog.  I think I found it on Pinterest????  This is a clever way of using the Circles Thinlets Die.  A great retro card for the Birthday Boy???

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WITH CHEVRONS!

When I made this card I wanted to show a different way of using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch. This is such a versatile punch.  With a strip of Whisper White card you can punch both ends of the strip and create fancy “holes” for your ribbon to thread through.  I was really trying to come up with a fancy term for these little “holes” but there was nothing!!!  Anyway, you get the idea.

P1110646

I sponged around the tag with Summer Starfruit. The greeting is from ‘Perfectly Penned’. After threading through some Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin ribbon I layered it all on a piece of DSP from Birthday Basics and layered this on a Summer Starfruit card mat.  Then it was all adhered to a Raspberry Ripple Card base.  I punched out some chevrons with the Chevron Border punch from Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit and Gumball Green.

Now these colours will be retiring very soon.  I would suggest stocking up NOW on the card, ink, ink refills and ribbon.  They go SO QUICKLY!!  Don’t wait until the retirement list is announced in a month or 2 to order them because I wouldn’t like you to miss out.

School holidays at the moment.  Although we haven’t gone away anywhere it has been a nice family time together but there has not been a lot of stamping time. I just sneak a little time here and there. I am working away at my Convention swaps which is just one month away.  YAY!! You will have to wait to see these swaps though.  Let me just say, why do I always choose involved cards to make as my swaps!!!

Have a great day/night wherever you are on this lovely planet 🙂

PETITE PETALS WITH PUNCH!!!

This is a card I made last week using Petite Petals stamp set.  One thing I love about this set is how it co-ordinates so nicely with the other flower punches we have.  This card was CASED from Deb Valder on Pinterest .  I just changed things a little.

P1110349

I stamped and punched one of the flowers from Petite Petals and layered it with a flower stamped from Flower Shop.  But then, see how they both layer nicely with the flower punched with the Blossom Punch.  Isn’t it great! I am sure that you would have at least one of these other stamps/punches in your collection.  (If you don’t, then you probably should have!!).

On this card I have also embossed a strip of Whisper White card using the Arrows Embossing Folder and layered it again on Whisper White. I added a Chevron strip of Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder using the Chevron Border Punch.  The greeting is from ‘Simply Sketched’.

Don’t forget to check in on Sunday.  I am showcasing the Petite Petals stamp set and punch in the ESAD Blog Hop.  Join us as we share projects using products from the current Occasions Catalogue.  There will be some awesome ideas.

THIS DAY FORWARD WEDDING!

The last couple of weeks/months have been really busy.  My Mum was married on Saturday so there has been a lot to do in preparing for the wedding and starting to pack up her house to move.  It was a great day on Saturday though and I am very happy for them both.  Now I know there is a lot of excitement with the new products from the Occasions Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration but I thought now was a good time to show you the invites and cards I made for them before it gets too much later.

Firstly, the engagement card.  I bought the set ‘This Day Forward’ especially for my Mum.  She loves birds and I knew that she would like it for the invitations as well.  Of course, I was assuming I was making them though! I will just tell you in advance in case you don’t work it out, my Mum likes blue!!! 😉

I started using the set for the Engagement card.

P1100504

Is is hard to tell but I stamped the image in versamark and Marina Mist ink and then clear embossed it.  I matted it on Silver Glimmer Paper.

See the border??? This has been created with the Chevron Border Punch.  I cut 2 strips and punched along them.  Then I flipped one over and wove one through the other.  I saw this idea on my blog travels somewhere.  I added some Rhinestones in the centre and around the image (although they seem to look a bit black in the photo). Then I tied around some striped organza ribbon which is now retired.

Here is the Wedding Invitation.  I needed to keep it simple as there was not a lot of time.  These needed to get out before Christmas so it was crazy for a week or two.

P1100685

I was going to heat emboss the image again but that was going to take too long.  After I stamped the image I embossed the bottom edge with the hearts from the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder. The “You’re Invited” is from the set ‘A Dozen Thoughts’. This piece was then matted on Marina Mist card.  I added a white Taffeta ribbon bow and a Rhinestone.  For the card base I cut an A4 piece of card vertically and then scored it half way.  I embossed the inside edge with the hearts once again.  I cut the front bottom edge with the ‘Adorning Accents’ Edgelits.   I forgot to take a photo of the inside but I had the wedding details on a separate piece of paper and attached with 2 silver brads at the top.

Now for the wedding card.  It was 3 days out from the wedding and I thought maybe I should get the card made.  So of course I used ‘This Day Forward’ again.  I didn’t have a lot of time to make one but I was pleased with the end result.

P1110234

I stamped the image with versamark and Marina Mist and added clear embossing powder and heat embossed this.  Along the bottom edge of the card I dry embossed this with the ‘Delicate Designs’ Embossing Folder.  I added some white organza ribbon.  The sentiment from the set was heat embossed as well and then I cut a banner shape from one end.  This was raised using Dimensionals.  I added 3 Rhinestones to the hearts.

The inside was just kept simple.

P1110237

OK, so just a couple of family pics.  If you are friends with me on Facebook you would have seen these so I don’t want to bore  you too much with these again.

Here is my Mum and her new husband.

P1110275

I have to add my gorgeous girl.  Carlie was Bridesmaid and she looked beautiful!

P1110248

Thanks for looking.  Hope I didn’t bore you too much.  All this was a whirlwind done in about 3 months. So I might just come up for air now – maybe!!!!  This year is turning out crazy.  Never fear though creating is what keeps me sane – or saner!  I will endeavour to share my projects with you as best I can.  I have been having fun playing with all the new products so I will show you some of them soon.
