EASTER TREATS!!!

Two weeks ago I held my Easter Gift Packaging Classes.  These were the projects they all got to make.

There were 2 Easter cards, a Chocolate Treat Slider and a Treat Cup Box.  I used the Kaleidoscope DSP in the Summer Mini (which by the way, there is only just over 1 week left so you better stock up on this paper and any of the other goodies in the Mini Catalogue!).  I picked out the colours in the papers so it is not the usual pastel colours you might normally use for Easter.  I think they are bright and funky!  I didn’t have any Easter stamps so I had to think outside the square – or oval as the case may be!  LOL

For the first card and the Treat Pull, I used the Sale-A-Bration set ‘Vintage Labels’.

For the card I stamped and heat embossed the oval frame in Gold Embossing Powder onto Tempting Turquoise and then punched it out with the Wide Oval Punch.  I tied a bow with Tempting Turquoise Grosgrain ribbon.  This was mounted on Whisper White and the edges sponged with Certainly Celery Ink.  It was then matted on Certainly Celery card.  Before adhering it to the base Turquoise card I stamped the bottom edge with the small flowers from ‘Short and Sweet’.  I scalloped the edge of the Pink Passion card strip with the eyelet border punch.  I stamped and embossed in Gold EP the words “Best Wishes” from the ‘Vintage Labels’ set.  Added a strip of Certainly Celery card behind it and adhered it to the base card.

You might have seen these chocolate treat sliders/pulls around on other blogs.  I found when I made one up it was so tiny you could only fit a chocolate in about the size of the credit card.  Now that is not good enough!!!! So, as usual I adjusted all the measurements to fit a larger size chocolate bar.  If you want the metric measurements for this then email me.

I stamped the cardstock  for the treat pull before assembling.  It is so much easier let me tell you!!!!!  I wrapped around a strip of the Kaleidoscope DSP that I had punched the edges with the eyelet border punch.  I stamped the circle label from ‘Vintage Labels’ in Turquoise on Turquoise card and punched it out using the scallop circle punch.  I stamped it again in Glorious Green onto Gable Green and punched it out with the 1″ circle punch.  These were layered with mounting tape. I punched out a slot with the horizontal slot punch and threaded the Tempting Turquoise grosgrain ribbon through.  This is such a great gift for someone – and so simple!!!

Here is the second card and the treat box.

The second card I punched out 3 ovals with the large oval punch from various pieces of the Kaleidoscope DSP.  I sponged the edges with matching inks and adhered them to the Whisper White card.  The edges were sponged in Regal Rose ink.  This was mounted on Regal Rose cardstock.  I created the fringe to resemble grass from Certainly Celery cardstock and then stamped the “For You” on the strip.  I added a strip of the Kaleidoscope DSP  onto the base Tempting Turquoise card and paper pierced along the top.  It is hard to see that, I know!!! This card is  just like an Easter Egg Hunt card!

The box I created myself.  I wanted to used the Treat Cups in someway for Easter.  It is a very simple box and I added the treat Cup to the top so you can see the yummy Easter eggs inside.  OK, so it is empty.  Believe me they were yummy!!!  Stamp the cardstock before assembling and you can decorate it as you like.

I am planning to put together a tutorial for this box so stop by in the next day or so.  In the meantime, Happy Stamping!!

MORE SCRAPPING!!

I have some more scrap pages to show you.  These are some other pages I have done at recent workshops (Well, before Christmas!!)

This is a very simple 6″x6″ page.

I have used the spiral punch down the left hand side of the Raspberry Tart DSP.  I used the marker to ink up just the love from the ‘Short and Sweet’ set and then inked up the U from ‘Schoolbook Serif’ alphabet. I did stamp the background page with the small flower from ‘Simply Said’, but it is a bit hard to see. A bit of bling on the hearts and some ribbon would add to the page now I look at it again.

This is a Christmas page.  I know it is March, but that is how far behind I am!!! This is a 12×12 page with ‘Season of Joy’.  What a versatile set that one is.  I borrowed it for these workshops but may have to buy one for next Christmas!

It is a bit hard to see.  I have used Handsome Hunter, Kraft and Real Red.  I like those colours together.  I used the markers to highlight the words ‘Merry & Bright’.  The ‘joy” word was stamped directly on the Kraft card in Real Red and then I stamped it again on the Handsome Hunter.  I punched the ‘o’ out and raised it using the mounting tape.  Here is a close-up.

For the tree I cut a triangle from Ski Slope DSP.  I used the Word Window punch and cut the end off to form the base.  You might not see the star very clearly, but I stamped the swirly image from ‘Trendy Trees’  in creamy caramel on Whisper White and then punched a small star shape out.  I added some Dazzling Diamonds with the 2-way glue pen.

There you have it!  Maybe a few pages to inspire you!  LOL

Happy Stamping!

ANOTHER BOX!!!

You might have seen these stationery boxes around on your blog travels.

(It’s a bit hard to get a good photo of it opened as there is so much to include!!! )

I got this idea from Jackie Topa.  It is a great little Stationery Set that folds up into a neat box.  I converted all the measurements to metric, but then Australian card sizes are different to the U.S. and our cards don’t fit.  So, then I adjusted the measurements.  It took a little working, BUT we got there!!!  Maybe somewhere in blogland someone has already done that and could have saved me a job, but ANYWAY it’s all done now!!!!

I did a class today to make these.  It was quite an involved project as there are lots of different steps along the way. I did change a couple of things.  I made separate pockets on the base to fit the booklet and the stamp envelope in.  This way they can be taken out to use.

This would make a great Christmas Gift for someone special.  The set includes 4 standard cards and envelopes, 4 love note cards and 4 tags; along with the stamp envelope and notebook.

If you would like the instructions for this Stationery Set with the Australian Sized measurements, then drop me an email at jghayward@yahoo.com and I will send one out to you.

Till next time,  Happy Stamping!!

DAY 2 OF CHRISTMAS CARD BUFFET!!

As promised here are the other cards from my Christmas Card Buffet.

Card 3.

 PICT1836

This was the most popular card of the day. The baubles were stamped first on the card in More Mustard and then on scrap Whisper White card in Ruby Red.  These ones were cut out and mounted over the More Mustard baubles.  I added some 2 way glue on the intersecting points on the baubles and sprinkled over some Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  Gotta love bling for Christmas!!!!

Card 4

PICT1837

I added the 2 way glue and dazzling diamonds on the stars on top of the trees but you just can’t see that in the photo.

Card 5

PICT1838

This one I stamped the “Jingle all the Way” on the Whisper White in Real Red and then again on scrap Whisper White.  I cut the bell out and mounted it on with mounting tape, adding some more bling.  It’s a shame you can’t see the sparkle on these cards!!!

Here is the recipes for them all:

IT’S A CHRISTMAS CARD BUFFET!!!

Well, It’s only taken a week to get back here!!! Sorry about that!  Life is a whirlwind at the moment – and it’s only going to get busier over the next few weeks.  But I did say I would show you the cards we did at my Christmas Card Buffet.  It was a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed it – I think??

There were 5 different cards and everyone could make a number of the cards they wanted.  When designing the cards they needed to be simple so everyone could make them without me demonstrating.  They needed to be quick to do, for people to make multiples of them. And, I needed to design them so each of them used different stamps so there was no doubling up of stamps.  I designed them so that cards 1 and 2 used similar size pieces and cards 3 and 4 used similar sized pieces.  That helped in cutting on the day for when people ordered the cards they chose to make.  I didn’t want to have too much cut in advance so that there wouldn’t be a lot left over.  These cards were inspired by many cards I have seen recently.  I have put various parts of these into creating these cards.

So, here is Card 1 and Card 2.

After I have shown you all the cards I will give you the card recipes.  (To make your life easier!!!)

I will be back very soon, so come back and see the other cards.

Enjoy your day 🙂

SOME RANDOM CARDS!!!

Now,  I hope you’re sitting carefully on your chair because I have something to tell you.  I don’t want you falling off.  These cards I am going to show you ARE NOT using ‘Great Friend’ Stampset!!!!! It’s Ok Lynda, you can breathe!!!  I thought I needed to ink up some other sets.  My poor ‘Great Friend’ set is nearly worn out.  I’ve lost count of  how many times I have cut that little butterfly and the frame out.

This first card is using ‘A Rose is a Rose’ set that I borrowed.  I was playing around with it.  I have to say this is about the only decent card I ended up with.  I thought afterwards that I should have embossed the outline image.  That would have made it ‘pop’ out.  Maybe when I borrow this set again I will try that!!! Maybe I should even take a better picture!!!!!!

A rose is a rose

I stamped the centre in Regal Rose and then lined up the outline with the SAJ (Stamp -A- Ma- Jig) and stamped that in Rose Red.  I inked up the inside leaves with Old Olive and stamped it off on scrap paper and then stamped it on the card.  I inked up the outline in Old Olive and stamped that on the leaves lining it up with the SAJ.  I adhered it to the Rose Red card and punched a slot with the slot punch and threaded through the ribbon.  Adhered this onto the base with the Raspberry Tart DSP piece.  I think I could have layered the rose a bit more too.  Mmmm!  I will have to borrow that set again!!

Card: Old Olive, Rose Red, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart DSP.

Ink: Regal Rose, Rose Red, Old Olive.

Stamps: A Rose is a Rose, Short and Sweet.

Other: Horizontal slot punch, Old Olive grosgrain ribbon.

The next card uses the hostess set “Live like you Mean it”.  This was the first time I had played with it.  It was a quick card.

Live flower

I stamped the flower in Regal Rose and then the flower outline in Rose Red.  I adhered this to a Certainly Celery mat, stapled a piece of Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon. I had adhered a piece of Raspberry Tart DSP to the Rose Red card base and adhered the stamped piece onto this.  I stamped up the greeting from ‘short and sweet’ inRose Red onto Certainly Celery card and punched it out using the Word Window Punch.  I mounted this with dimensionals on the card.

Stamps: Live Like you Mean it, Short and Sweet.

Ink: Regal Rose, Rose Red.

Card: Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart DSP.

Other: Word Window punch, Certainly Celery Grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals, stapler.

There you have it!!  Thanks for Looking!  I hope you have time to stamp today!  As for me I have to run.  I have a workshop tonight, a Girls Night In event tomorrow and my Christmas Card Buffet on Saturday.  So a busy time ahead!  Stop by again soon!

cards, swaps

PUNCH SWAPS!!

This month’s team swap was to use punches!  Last month was a non-stamping swap and I had chosen to use punches then.  This is the little ballerina I made.  After a big project with that one I thought I would keep this one nice and simple.  So this was my card.

PICT1767

I cased this from this year’s Stampin’ Up! Catalogue on p141.  I just changed it a little.  I liked the simplicity of the card and think it is a great one to do multiple copies for Christmas Cards.  As it was I made a lot of them for the swaps!  I like the effect of the punched out small star in the larger star.  To do this, first punch out the small star from your cardstock.  Make sure you leave room around it.  Then turn the large star upside down and place it in your cardstock.  That is the great thing with the Stampin’ Up! punches that you can see what you are doing from underneath the punch.  Line the large punch up around the smaller star so it is even – and then punch it out!  It is great.  You can do this with any different size punches such as the circles and ovals. I added a row of paper piercing and some staples.  I like using the staples they just add another dimension on the card.  This is what I have used.

Stamps: Short and Sweet.

Card: Baja Breeze, Real Red, Old Olive, Ski Slope DSP.

Ink: Real Red.

Other: Small and large star punches, dimensionals, paper piercer and mat, stapler.

Well, my card was pretty boring compared to some of the other team cards.  Here are some very clever creations.

Keesh’s Sketch Challenge #11

I have just completed a card for Keesh’s Challenge this week.  Here is the sketch Keesh set.

This really took me out of my comfort zone.  I don’t normally mix patterns together on a card, but I though this sketch would work well with this.  The great thing with SU papers is they are designed to work together.  That makes the job so much easier!  I have been playing with my new Spring mini stamps and since I am starting to work on Christmas Cards I thought I would use the “Tree Trimmings” set.  Here is my card I came up with.

PICT1382

I don’t have any fancy circle cutters so I used the old-fashioned way with a compass and pencil and cut them out with my scissors.  I hope SU introduce the circle scissors here it would be so good!!!

Stamps:  Tree Trimmings, Short and Sweet.

Card: Sage Shadow, Ruby Red, Whisper White, Windsor Knot DSP.

Ink: Ruby Red, Old Olive, Going Gray.

Other: Riding Hood Red  ribbon (Ribbon Originals), Red Rhinestone Brads (Circle Fire), Mounting Tape, Horizontal Slot punch, Dazzling Diamonds, 2 way glue, paper piercer and piercing mat.

I punched a slot with the slot punch and threaded the ribbon through this and tied it in a knot.  You can’t really tell though.  I did add some holes using the paper piercer in the top left corner too.  I stamped the ornaments on scrap Whisper White card and then cut them out.  I put 2 way glue over them and sprinkled the Dazzling Diamonds on to give it some bling.  It is a bit hard to see, but here is a close-up.

There you have it.  Why don’t you go and check out the other entries for this challenge.  I’m a bit behind in my posts so I will be back soon.

Have a good day.  🙂

FAMILY STAMPING!!!

On Tuesday I had a family holiday stamping time with my MIL, SIL and her friend, and niece Megan (Hi Megan!!!). I wanted to show you what we did. I used the SU ‘Lovely as a Tree’. I don’t have this set but I borrowed it and had a lot of fun!!

For the first card I wanted a masculine type card. On the Choc Chip base card I stamped the leaf randomly over the card with Choc Chip inkpad. I stamped the large pine tree in Choc Chip onto Very Vanilla and then without reinking stamped it again to the right of it. Then I inked it up again and stamped it off on scrap paper and then stamped it to the right of the first one. I tore the bottom edge and then distressed and inked the edges in Choc Chip. I adhered this to Certain Celery cardstock. On the Certain Celery mat I had distressed the edges and inked them with Choc Chip also. I stamped on Happy Birthday from ‘A Little Birthday Cheer’ Set. I adhered both of these to the Choc Chip base. I stamped off 2 leaves onto scrap Vanilla card and then cut them out and mounted them with dimensionals. It is a very simple card.

IMG_0010

The second card was based on the very talented Michelle Zindorf. Check out her blog she does some awesome work. I stamped the trees in Basic Black. I punched a circle in a post-it note with the 1 3/8″ circle and stuck it on to create a mask. I then sponged around the trees with Baja Breeze, then Night of Navy and Black right on the edge. The grass was sponged with Old Olive and then the gone over with the Old Olive Marker at the grass line. The sentiment is from ‘Short and Sweet’ stamped in black. It was then mounted on Black and then Old Olive.

BAROQUE TIME!!!

Sorry I have been MIA in the last week. It has been such a busy week, but I have something to show you!!!!
I had a workshop on Saturday. My lovely hostess wanted me to use the Baroque set. Since she had seen a number of different ways I needed to come up with something else that she hadn’t seen yet. I agonised over the card for the make N take (as I do all of them might I add!!). This is what I showed.

IMG_0007

It was similar card to one I had shown in an earlier post with the Baroque Gift box and cards.  I turned this one the other way and changed the colours.  It was a simple card really but everyone liked it.  The flower was Rock and Rolled in Certain Celery and then Choc Chip on scrap cardstock.  It was cut out and then raised on dimensionals.

Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Short and Sweet.

Card: Choc Chip, Certain Celery, Very Vanilla.

Ink: Choc Chip, Certain Celery.

Other: Dimensionals, Scallop Border Punch.

On your blog hopping you might have read about Stepping Up your cards.  I took this card and stepped it up.  I added some Dazzling Diamonds in the centre of the Rock and Rolled flower (although you probably can’t see that!!).  I added some Choc Chip Grosgrain ribbon and stamped the greeting on scrap card. Then I punched it out with the word window punch.

I then made the card again in a different colour combo.  This time in Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie.  So what do you think?  Which colour do you like best?

IMG_0008

In my creating last week I made another card using the Baroque Motifs set.

IMG_0009

This is a small 10cmx10cm card.  I stamped the swirls, the small flower and the word ‘cherish’ in versamark  and then did some Poppin’ Pastels with the sponge daubers and pastels.  I love this technique.  It has to be one of my favourites I think.  It reminds me of the magic picture books you had and you rubbed over them and the picture appears.  It is such a WOW technique!

On scrap card I stamped the small flower in versamark again and added some pastels.  I cut it out and mounted it with dimensionals.  The centre is a rhinestone.  I discovered you could pull apart the brad and take out the rhinestone when I was visiting Andrea’s blog the other day.

So there you have it.  Am I forgiven now for not posting all week!!! I hope to have some more creations to show you soon.  Why not try a card and then step it up, or try the poppin’ pastels.  Email me your creations and I can post some here.

Thanks for looking!! Stop by again soon.
