BRAYERED UPSY DAISY

I had a go at brayering the other day when we had a team stamping day.  I used this lovely set ‘Upsy Daisy’.  I think I have a bit to learn about brayering!  I copied the brayering that Ness had done.

Firstly, punch a circle using the 1 3/8″  circle punch on scrap paper and apply some 2-way glue to the back.  When the glue dries it can be removed when you are finished.  Ink up the brayer on the ink pad until it is covered and then quickly brayer back and forth moving slowly up the cardstock.  For this card I used Regal Rose.  You need to re-ink a number of times and continue brayering.  I have to say it is hard work!!  When you are happy with the depth of colour you can remove the circle and let it dry.  Then stamp over the top with the flower stems from Upsy Daisy.  Use a slightly darker shade.  For this I used Rose Red.  Then add your greeting.

Once it had dried completely I created this card.  This was for my MIL’s birthday last Friday.  She loves red that is why I chose these colours.  I picked out the Olive from other papers in the Raspberry Tart DSP Pack.  (It is actually Kiwi Kiss, but it is close!!)

Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Short and Sweet.

Card:  Rose Red, Old Olive, Whisper White,  Raspberry Tart DSP.

Ink:  Regal Rose, Rose Red, Old Olive.

Other: Brayer, Dimensionals, 1 3/8″ circle punch, 2-way glue, dazzling diamonds.

The bow is made from Old Olive Cardstock.  Cut a very thin strip of cardstock, then holding both ends gently run the strip up and down on the edge of the table or chair back.  This breaks the fibres down and it becomes more flexible so that you can tie it into a bow.

On the tips of the flowers in the circle I applied some 2-way glue and Dazzling Diamonds, just to add the bling!  Unfortunately you can’t see it very well.  I brayered another couple of the Upsy Daisy flowers while I was at it, so I will have a go at creating some more cards soon.  It’s a busy week ahead with workshops and planning a Kids Stamp for the holidays, so I better get moving.

Have a good Day 🙂

A BABY SHOWER!!!

Two posts in one day. Whoo Hooo!! This weekend I am going to a baby shower. It is very exciting. I have been wanting to make this card for a while and now I have the perfect excuse. This is a fun card to make. It is a baby jumpsuit (or onesie as they are called in the US). You can find all the instructions how to make one here on Lauren’s blog. I was surprised how small it was though, so I doubled the length and then folded it over.

Stamps: Best yet, Short and Sweet.

Card: Whisper White, Certain Celery, Rose Red.

Ink: Certain Celery, Rose Red.

Other: 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Scallop circle punch, Dimensionals.  Pink Eyelets (not SU).

It is sooo cute!  I thought if you don’t punch the circles for the leg holes you could turn it into a dress.  That would be good to try sometime.

Why don’t you try one.  Have a good weekend!

WISH BIG!!

I thought I should show you some scrapbooking.  Now I’m just starting out on this scrapbooking venture and I have a lot to learn.  I liked how this page turned out though.  It is a 6″x6″ page.  This is of my DD Carlie.   This photo was taken 18 months ago when she was 7.  She loves dressing up.  Although, she told me the other day that she is getting too old to dress up!  We even packed up her baby doll clothes and her dress up clothes.  It was a very sad day (for me anyway!!)

pict1145

I picked out the colours in the photo to use.  The base is Tempting Turquoise.  I have matted the photo in Ruby Red and used a Chocolate Chip card strip.  I didn’t have any alphabet stamps at the time so I used the Ruby Red marker to ink up the letters from my Sincere Salutations set.  It does say BIG.  I know it is not too clear!!  The word wish is from the Short and Sweet set.  I don’t seem to make a card or anything without using this set.  Of course, I have used Baroque Motifs set as well.   The flower embellishment is from Seeing Spots.  I inked the flower in versamark and stamped it on Ruby Red cardstock.  I applied heat and stick powder, heat embossed it then added the Dazzling Diamonds.  I heated it again to let it set.  I cut the circle out.  I didn’t have any turquoise brads, so I punched a circle out with a small circle punch and adhered it to the centre.  It was very fiddly, but with some perseverance (and a little force LOL) – it stuck.  I added some crystal effects to the centre to make it shiny – and you can see that of course!  I used dimensionals to add it the page.  Page done!  I have a few other pages lined up to finish,  so I will have to get a move on.

MAKEESHA’S CHALLENGE WITH BLOOM AWAY!

I made another card with this set for Makeesha’s sketch challenge this week. You can see the sketch here.  I had been thinking about this sketch for a few days and I wasn’t sure what to do.  I had already watercoloured the image so I thought I would incorporate that somehow.  I wasn’t sure about the colours either.  I wanted to pick out the colours in the image but I didn’t want it to look like a Christmas Card.  (Although I think this set will be really good at Christmas time).  While I was tossing around a few combinations and not quite happy with what I had,  it was then that I saw it……   Sitting on the table next to me was the new Stampin’ Up! Catalogue.  This colour combo. was on the front cover.  The catalogue was an inspiration without even opening a page!

On to the card: I used Ruby Red for the card base and stamped the leaves from Embrace Life with Versamark.  I sponged around the edge of a piece of Old Olive cardstock.  I scalloped the edge of Chocolate Chip strip with the Border scallop punch and adhered it to the Olive piece.  I stamped the Eucalyptus Gum on watercolour paper in Going Grey.  I watercoloured it using the inkpads and aquapainter.  I then cut around the image and mounted it on a circle with dimensionals.  The circle was cut using the Round Tab punch.  I punched out 2 pieces and offset them.  I mounted this on the card with dimensionals also.  I stamped the greeting from Short and Sweet in Choc. Chip and punched it out with the word window punch.  I also cut one from Choc. Chip and adhered them together and trimmed off the end.  I mounted it against the side with dimensionals.  You’ve got to love that stuff! The card is straight IRL, believe me.

I have actually finished one of Keesh’s sketch on time!

“Summer By The Sea”

It is not just the summer season that has finished here, although we are having some beautiful autumn weather,  the stamp set “summer by the sea” will be retiring at the end of the month.  This is a set I should have used more.  It has such fine line images which is beautiful to watercolour or to stamp just by itself.  I wanted to try watercolouring with the set before it leaves us.  I haven’t done a lot of watercolouring so I was experimenting.  After several attempts I think watercolouring with the inkpads and aquapainters worked better.  Just open the inkpad slightly and squeeze a couple of times.  When you open the inkpad there will some pools of ink.  Pick up some ink with the aquapainter and paint on your image.  I have stamped the image onto watercolour paper with stazon.  This prevents the ink bleeding when it is watercoloured.  The more ink you apply the darker the colour.  I was pleased with the end result.  I have stamped ‘wish big’ from “short and sweet”.  I thought this image would be great for a young boy so I pulled out some bold bright scraps.  These are colours I don’t use very often, but it is nice and summery.

cards

Ink: So Saffron, Certain Celery, Pumpkin Pie, Going Grey, black Stazon plus Brilliant Blue Marker.

Card: Brilliant Blue, Green Galore, Only Orange, Yoyo yellow, watercolour paper.

There are only 2 weeks left to buy any of the retiring products.  Also, there is only 2 weeks left for the Victorian Bush Fire Appeal so let me know if you want to place an order for any of the products.

PIZZA WITH LOVE!!!

Yesterday I had a project class where everyone got to make a Mini Pizza Box and Love notes.  (Hence the heading!).  I think everyone had a great time!  I always love seeing how they all turn out.
Here is what they are like.

pict0972

They are very cute little boxes.  I found this on Splitcoast and there are various ones on other blogs.  The only thing missing is the pizza!

I have used ‘Embrace Life’ set and stamped the blossom on Very Vanilla cardstock.  To create the scallop cut out, the card must be 7.5cm (3″) square.  Place the card in the scallop edge punch and line it up even between the markings on the top.  After punching, turn the card and line up the next side.  Because of the size it won’t completely punch it out, creating a little tab.  Repeat on the other sides.  If that doesn’t make sense, email me.  You can thread ribbon through the slots too and wrap it around the card.  That looks really effective.  I have mounted the scallop square with dimensionals on a square of Ginger Blossoms DSP and then on Regal Rose.  You can’t see inside the box but I have lined the bottom of the box with a square of the ruby red dotted paper in the same DSP pack.

The little Love Notes measure 14.8×7.5 (just so you can fit them nicely on an A4 cardstock).  Score and fold them in half.  I stamped the blossoms from ‘Embrace Life’  on vanilla cardstock again.  The sentiment is from ‘Short and sweet’.  These would make cute little gifts and they are so quick to make.   Try one for yourself.  If you would like me to show you how, get some friends together and I can come to you.

We’ve got to start somewhere!!

This week is a big week for celebrations in our family.  Today is my SIL birthday, the Big 6-0 (shhh, I didn’t tell you that!).  I wanted to use some of the beautiful DSP papers in the current summer mini.  You only have 1 month left to buy any of these products in the summer mini.

I have used the ginger blossoms DSP.   I have layered these on vanilla cardstock.  The paper strips are mounted on regal rose.  The flower image is from the ‘Embrace Life’ set also from the summer mini.  It is stamped onto regal rose cardstock, cut and mounted with dimensionals.  This stamp set is so lovely.  I have used it so many times and I’m sure you will see more with it.  A little bling with dazzling diamonds and very vanilla grosgrain ribbon, some corner piercing and it is finished. I’m not sure of the stark regal rose colour on this though.  I will be back again soon with another special event card.
