SILVER EMBOSSED CALM CHRISTMAS

This is a card we made at a workshop last week using Calm Christmas.  When I first saw it I thought it would look great embossed.

P1090830

I CASED this from a card from Splitcoaststampers. The paper is from the Winter Frost DSP Paper Stack.  This pad of papers is such great value at $11.95 for 48 sheets.  The size is just right to use on a card front or you have a lot to play with to add strips to the card like I have here.   You get 24 sheets of 2 double-sided designs.  I love the colours used in this pad.  So I think I will be making a lot of cards using this colour pallette for Christmas this year!

Anyway, back to the card. The dove was silver embossed which gives it such a nice shine.  I added a strip of Island Indigo card that was punched with the Ribbon Border Punch and layered over some silver ribbon.  The greeting from this set is silver embossed too.  This was punched out with the Scallop Circle Punch and layered over an oval punched from Island Indigo.  I added a silver bow to the top of the greeting.

I have some more cards to come with this set so stay tuned.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I hope you have a happy week.  🙂

ANOTHER BUTTERFLY COLLECTION!

Recently I showed you a number of cards using the Butterfly Collection wheel.  With the Blog Hop last week I never got to show you another one I had made.  Here it is.  I have to say this card didn’t end up how I started but I think it is OK!

P1090846

I was going for a shabby/vintage look.  I think I realised when I was making this that I just don’t do vintage all that well.   I used some of the gorgeous Venetian Romance DSP.  This is just beautiful paper.  This was layered on to a Pistachio Pudding card base.  Before adding the paper I adhered some Pistachio Pudding Ruffled ribbon under the Lace and wrapped it around the paper.  I cut a Labels  framelit from Pumpkin Pie and then embossed it with the stripes  Embossing Folder.  The Butterfly wheel was rolled over some Very Vanilla Card and then cut with the Butterfly Bigz Die. I layered a butterfly punched with the Elegant Butterfly punch and added a Clear button and a Whisper White twine bow.  The greeting flag was stamped from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and cut with the Bitty Banners Die.  The end result was Ok.  Not sure if it is vintage enough though.  I love the softness of Pistachio Pudding.  I think it is my new favourite colour.

I hope you have enjoyed these cards with the Butterfly Collection Wheel.  If you missed the other cards  I have made with this wheel, then head back a couple of posts to catch them.

KISSED BUTTERFLIES

Have you kissed lately??? Your stamps – what else would I be talking about!!!  Here is a recent ‘Kissed’ card I made using the’ Butterfly Collection’ wheel.

P1090660

I have used Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie.  The other stamp sets I have used are ‘Gorgeous Grunge’ and ‘Oh Goodie’ which is a sneak peak at a stamp set in the upcoming Holiday Catalogue.

This card was inspired by a project in last month’s Demonstrator magazine.  I really liked the effect so I thought I would give it a go, and I thought I would share with you how to do it too.  So, let’s get kissing!!!

KISSING YOUR EMBOSSING FOLDERS

1. Firstly, take an Embossing Folder with a small print on it.  I have used the Square Lattice folder.  Run a piece of scrap Whisper White card through it.

2.  Ink up your wheel and run your wheel over the card.  Alternatively, ink a solid image stamp and stamp on the embossed card.  This is taking off some of the ink on your wheel or stamp.  OK now you are thinking,  Why can’t you wheel or stamp directly on to the Embossing Folder.  You can but it doesn’t give you such a defined impression.  Try it and see.  (I did!!).  It really pays to do the extra step.

3. Run your wheel over a second piece of Whisper White card that you are using for your finished card.  You will see the embossed print on your stamped image.

4. For the finished card above, I inked up the wheel in Pumpkin Pie and repeated the steps.  That is I ran it over the scrap Whisper White.  You can use the same piece you already used it doesn’t matter as you are just wanting to take off some of the ink.  Then wheeled it over another strip of Whisper White card.  I cut the middle row of butterflies out and adhered them over the Melon Mambo piece I had previously inked.  (As in Step 3).

For the card I finished it off with some black Taffeta ribbon.

I hope you like this technique.  Now go and get kissing your stamps – and Embossing Folders.

Have a great weekend,

Jenny
