ON THE STAGE – BRISBANE STAMPIN’ UP! CONVENTION

It has been a busy time since I have got back from Brisbane.  All the excitement of the new Catalogue coming out and the Retirement List has just been announced. So much to take in!! Today though I can finally show you some of the projects we saw presented on Stage.  There were so many amazing projects that I really can’t show you them all but I thought I would point a few out to you.

Firstly,  we can’t go past Shelli, CEO and Cofounder of Stampin’ Up!.  Being the 25th Anniversary of Stampin’ Up! there were a few memories being shared.  It is amazing from those humble beginnings of Stampin’ Up! this home-based business has spread throughout the world.

Who would have thought this guy would turn up to a Stamping event??? I will tell you about him a bit later.

P1080548

Bonnie Thurber, Demonstrator Training Director in the US.  She is so entertaining and always has some very clever projects.

P1080553

This is one of the projects she shared using a new product from the upcoming catalogue.

P1080557

Here is a close-up of the cute little note cards she made to go in the box.  So simple but sometimes you don’t need to do too much.

Check this display out.  Sophie Zadeh, Training Facilitator in Aust/NZ shared these creations with us. She mixed white paint with various colours of reinkers to colour these bottles.  Just add a little reinker to the paint a little at a time until you get the colour you want.  You can add a little water to make it a runnier consistency.  Pour in to your fancy glass bottles and mix and swirl around.  Don’t shake it too much. Then leave it to dry for a while.  See the green bubbly bottle.  That happened from real flowers being left in the glass overnight.  The moisture in the flowers reacted and created bubbles.  I think it looks really cool!  See there are no mistakes in creating!

P1090152

I have to show you this project.  Ngaire, a Demonstrator from WA shared some ideas using the Dress Ups Die.  I thought this was really clever.  You have to be able to eat 16 Ferrero Rocher chocolates though before you can make this project.  The papers are folded. Some are in 1/2 some in 1/4’s.  Then they are layered up to create the skirt.  How do people think up these clever ideas!

P1080974

Have you seen the new Incolors yet?  I am sure if you have been trawling the internet you have seen them.  I really like these colours this year and can’t wait to get hold of them.  (Mine are on there way!!!!)  I really love how they are displayed on this.  This was another project by Sophie.  She used the new Incolor Boutique Details buttons.

P1090155

Back to the guy with the big red shoes.  Ronald McDonald himself turned up to announce that Stampin’ Up! South Pacific has joined with Ronald McDonald House Charities.  This means that $3 from an exclusive stamp set will be donated to assist the running of Ronald McDonald Houses.  These are located near major hospitals to provide accommodation for children and their families who are undergoing treatment at the hospital.  Also, Demonstrators living close-by will be able to volunteer to help in these homes as well.  We can also be involved in other fundraising events for them too. This is awesome! You will hear about this some more over the coming months I am sure.

I think this might give you an insight in to some of the adventures of Convention.  It really is a fantastic time and I think this year was even more special celebrating the 25th Anniversary.

I still have swaps to show you.  I have pulled them out once since I got back but sometime this week I will get them out to take some photos so stop by soon.

MORE BRISBANE CONVENTION NEWS

Some more highlights of the Stampin’ Up! Convention last week.

I forgot to show you this yesterday.  This was our gift from Stampin’ Up! for Leadership.  Isn’t it cool!! It’s a tin like the old film reel tins.  It had a stampset in from the new catalogue so I can’t show you that yet.  The tin was tied up in some ribbon and had a lovely tag.  It was very special.

P1090185

Of course, something we always look forward to is “the Convention bag”.

P1090186

This year it was a silver and white back pack to commemorate the 25th Anniversary.  It has So many pockets which is neat although you have to remember which pocket you put that thing in.  Carlie counted the pockets and there were 19!!

Memento Mall is also a highlight.  A bonus as Manager and above we get to go early as VIP’s and avoid the crowd!

P1080522

I always love the displays.

Shopping is done!

“STAMPIN’ UP! LEADERSHIP – BRISBANE”

I am back from Brisbane from what I think would have to be THE BEST Convention EVER!!!!  It was an awesome time and I have so many new ideas to try.  Yes, we did get lots of free goodies which I think I might have mentioned once or twice recently but it was so great just being there and meeting up with friends and making new friends.

Sorry I was not able to show you any photos in last post but I had limited internet access.  I am just going through some photos and I will be showing you some of the highlights over the next week.

Before Convention officially started the Leadership event was held.  This was for Managers and above.  I was so excited to be there this year.  We had a few sessions during the day with some business tips and goal setting which was really helpful.  Then in the night we had a dinner which was very yummy!!!!!

Here is our group all dressed up with somewhere to go!

Us

Vanessa Webb on the Left (our fearless ‘Inky Fingers’ Team Leader’), Leonie N., Me and Wendy W.  (Thanks Ness for the photo).

During the night our names were flashed up on the screen.  That was very exciting! They scrolled through the names several times so we sat poised through several rotations to catch a photo of our name!!!

P1080490

I forgot to take a photo of the main meal but it was a very yummy chicken dish with asparagus and sweet corn puree.  Now I didn’t forget to take a photo of  the Dessert though!

This was a “warm chocolate fondant, Buderim Candied Ginger Icecream with Banana Sauce”  Now I am not a fan of ginger but it was not an overpowering flavour.  It was all just so YUMMY!!!!

P1080493

Here is a view from outside the window at the “Big Wheel”.  It was a huge Ferris Wheel by the river and it looked pretty stunning lit up at night with the Brisbane skyline in the background.

P1080500

That is a start for you.  I will be back soon with some more highlights.

POOL PARTY PAPILLION POTPOURRI!!

I am still in Brisbane at the moment at the Stampin’ Up! Convention.  I have this post scheduled so you don’t miss me too much.  🙂  I made this card a couple of months ago and realised I hadn’t shown it to you yet.  This is using the gorgeous set “Papillion Potpourri”.  I CASED this from Splitcoaststampers.

I love the combination of Pool Party and Island Indigo.  I have added Summer Starfruit for a little punch!!  Just a brief post today but I hope you like the card.

Thanks for stopping by,

CONVENTION BAG TAG!

Twice in one day. Don’t die from shock!  This is a quick post.  This afternoon I thought I better whip up a tag for my Convention bag. With 700 people having the same bag you need a tag to identify your bag.  Now I could just tie a piece of ribbon on, but why not make a tag when I have so much time this afternoon – NOT!!!!

Here is my tag.

P1080485

I have used the Blue Ribbon stamp set stamped in Island Indigo and punched out with the 1 3/4″ circle.  I had to have some bling so punched a scallop circle with the 2 3/8″ scallop punch from Silver Glimmer paper.  The silver ‘J’ is cut on the Big Shot with the retired Timeless Type Alphabet die.  I added a length of Whisper White 1/4″ Grosgrain ribbon to tie it on to the bag.  I found the tiniest piece of Island Indigo Satin ribbon from Sale-A-Bration to tie on to the white grosgrain ribbon just to finish it off.  See those tiny little scraps of ribbon do come in handy!!

OK, enough from me today.  I still haven’t packed.  Thanks for stopping by again.

MDS CARD FOR THE LITTLE BOYS!!!

Just a quick post today.  I thought I would show you this card I made with ‘My Digital Studio’ last week.  This is a fun card for a young boy.  I am sure I have a few young nephews that would like a card like this.

car

This is using ‘On The Go’ Brush Set. I added a digital eyelet to the centre of the wheels.

See the curve ‘Beep! Beep’ Text.  I thought I would tell you how I did that.   This can work with any shape, embellishment or text.  When you click on the shape it comes up with a shape highlighted with dots marking each corner and side points.  If you hover over one of these corner points a directional arrow shows up which enables you to enlarge or shrink the shape.  Notice if you click on a corner there is also a circular arrow that shows up.  If you click or move this shape it will rotate the shape.  You can bend the shape to any angle. I hope I have explained it clearly enough.  One day I will get clever and be able to show pictures to give you a better idea.  It is a really cool application anyway so have a play around yourself.

Thanks for stopping by.  More “Paper” projects next time.

DAYDREAM MEDALLION BUTTERFLY!!

I realised I hadn’t shown you this card.  I made this quite a few months ago.  I think it got filed away with the busyness of Christmas, Sale-A-Bration and Seasonal Catalogue.  Here it is now for you.

P1070876

I was playing around with some new products at that time – Raspberry Ripple and Summer Starburst Incolors.   I even broke out my Daydream Medallions set!  I think this was the first time I used Papillion Potpourri too.  On the butterfly I stamped it in Raspberry Ripple and used the Aquapainter to pick up some ink from the inkpad to lightly colour it.  I layered the butterfly on a Whisper White Circle which I had embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  You can’t see in the photo but I stamped a smaller medallion from Daydream Medallion on the Summer Starburst card with Illuminate ink.  It gives it a nice shimmer. The greeting is from Curly Cute and stamped in Raspberry Ripple. I used some Raspberry Ripple Stitched Satin ribbon to finish it off.  I really liked the finished result.

Thanks for visiting me today.  Stop be again soon.

‘CLOCKWORKS’ – FOR THE BOYS!!

We all have trouble with cards for the Boys, don’t we???? I have a card for you today using the stamp set ‘Clockworks’.   I created this a couple of weeks ago when I was after some samples for class.  I must say I did CASE this from ‘nicepeoplestamp.com’.  I have seen versions of this on Pinterest too.  I changed the colours on my card.

P1080291

I have used Gumball Green, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake.  It’s a quick card for those male cards we need to make.  I should play around with this set a bit more.  I really haven’t used this set since I got it at Stampin’ Up! Regionals in September last year.  Just so many toys to play with sometimes!!!

Speaking of Boys, I thought I would give you a quick update on how the boys went last week at the National Gridiron Championships that Josh was playing in.  Just spare me a little “proud Mummy moment” OK 🙂  Last post I mentioned how New South Wales won their first game 36-24 after coming back in the second half to win.  The next game they played they won 69 NIL.  I did feel really sorry for the other team.  With two wins it meant they were through to the Grand Final held last Saturday.  It was a very tough game but NSW dug deep and their Defence was strong.  NSW were named Australian Champions with a win of 7-0.  It was a nail-biting finish though.  Well done NSW.  Well done Josh. Here he is in action in the Grand Final.  He is #28 – on top of the pack in the middle – of course!

P1080238

I thought I would just show you a photo of Josh after the game with his prize-winning medal.

P1080288

Thanks for indulging me. 🙂

Be back again soon with some card creations!!
