A NEW DESIGNER TOTE BAG!!

I have been wanting to create another Tote Bag for a long time but I haven’t had a chance – until now!  The ‘Large Tote Bag’ has been my most popular post over the last 2 years but I wanted to freshen it up.  Here is my new Tote.  Below I will share all the details for you.

P1110771

Here are a few other views.

I have used the lovely Venetian Romance DSP and Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock.  I added the Soft Suede Candy Dots to the tabs.  They match in so well I think.  I added a flower to the top to hide the join.  I will tell you about that below.  The greeting is from ‘World Treasures’.  I coloured the words with markers (Baked Brown Sugar and Crisp Canteloupe) and cut around the inside of the border.  I cut a piece from Baked Brown Sugar with the Apothecary Framelits and layered this under the greeting and then cut another in Crisp Canteloupe and cut this one in half to layer underneath.

Let’s move on with ‘HOW TO MAKE THE TOTE BAG’

The original post for the Tote Bag with step-by-step instructions is HERE.  These are in metric.

** Edited to add: I have since updated that post to have Imperial measurements as well.

If you would like the tutorial emailed to you then drop me a comment.

Let me tell you the modifications.

1. Omit the card strip for along the bottom edge.  Punch 2 circles in Baked Brown Sugar with the 2 1/2″ circle punch. Cut them in half.  You then have 4 pieces.  Fold each one in half and then adhere these to the corners of your bag.

2. For your handle, Omit the 2 card strips and the steps to prepare your handle.

Cut 2 pieces 3.5cm x 25cm (1 3/8″x10″). Join the 2 strips.  Adhere the handle to each end of the bag.  I used Sticky Strip for strength.  Cut small tabs to add to your handles.  Cut 2 pieces 4cm x 3cm (1 5/8″ x 1 3/8″).  Round the corners on the bottom edge.  Adhere these to the ends of your bag.  Add the Candy Dots or Brads for decoration. (If you are using Brads then place them on your tabs before you add the tabs to your bag).

3.  For your Bag Closure: Cut your card 5cm x 16cm ( 2″x 6 1/4″).  Punch one end out with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  Adhere the other end to the back of your Tote Bag.  Gently bend the closure over and mark the point on the front.  Place a Brad on the front to that will hold your closure.  I used a Candy Dot on a Brad.

4.  To cover the join in the handle I added a punch flower.  I punched out 3 flowers using the Pansy Punch and curled them a little.  Join these together by overlapping a little and adding Sticky Strip.  Add a small flower punched from the Boho Blossoms punch.  Adhere a large Adhesive Pearl to the middle.

I hope you like this version.  I hope you can go and make a Tote Bag yourself.  I hope the instructions are clear.  If you have any problems then please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Have a great day. 🙂

SCALLOP TAG TOPPER TRI-FOLD CARD!

When I first got my Tag Topper Punch I thought it would look cool to make a fold out card with it.  I had seen a couple around my blog travels but wasn’t sure how to go about it.  Well I made one AND I have put together a tutorial just for you so you can make one yourself.

Here is some close-ups.

Now on to the Tutorial.

SCALLOP TAG TOPPER PUNCH TRI-FOLD CARD!

1. Cut your base card to 14.8cm x 21cm. (I used Baked Brown Sugar). On the 21cm side score the card at 7cm and 14cm.

2. Slide the edge of your card (long side) in to your Tag Topper Punch. It takes a little wiggling but you can get the card in and line it up in the first scored section in to the punch.  You can roughly line the card up between the rectangle shape on the top of the punch where the image of the punch is on.  See the photo.

P1110477

Punch the card.  Then move it along to the next scored section.  Line it up and then punch again. Repeat for the last section again.

P1110479

Trim off the excess tabs to level them off.

P1110442

NOTE: The card does get a little bent when you punch it out but just press over it and when you add the card to the front you don’t notice it.

3. Cut your card mat pieces and whisper white and DSP (designer series paper).

Card mats (I used Crisp Canteloupe)  measures 6.6cm x 12.2cm  (3 in total).

Whisper White (x2) and DSP piece(x1) 6.2cm x 11.8cm.  The DSP is from Venetian Romance.

P1110441

I stamped one of the Whisper White pieces with the flower from ‘Happy Watercolor’ in Baked Brown Sugar and coloured it with the Aquapainter and inkpad.

To finish the card off I sponged the white card pieces and the DSP with Crisp Canteloupe ink and adhered them to the card. I added some Gold Washi Tape and also  some gold sequins over the card (still not sure about these???). Then I tied some Crisp Canteloupe Ruffled ribbon through the holes and tied them off with Linen Thread.

Here it is again – the finished off card.

Do you like it????? Why not go and make one for yourself.

Thanks for taking the time to visit me in your day.  I do appreciate it as I know your time is precious.  I hope you are inspired.

See you next time.

A DAY FOR WEDDINGS!!

What a beautiful day for weddings on Saturday.  Firstly, my nephew and his beautiful partner were married in the most gorgeous rock canyon setting surrounded by 200 family and friends.  Before I show you the card I made for them I have to show you a photo. Aren’t they beautiful????

P1110142

Now onto the card.  I used the circle Thinlets to create the card based on a similar design I made for another wedding recently.  You can see that card here.  For this card I have used the Modern Medley DSP and silver glimmer paper.  The “Mr and Mrs” from ‘Label Love’ was clear embossed after I stamped in versamark although you can’t see that too well.  I made the card base longer than the thinlet die so it could create a flap to fold over.

P1110118

Here is a photo of the side.  This card is really hard to take photos of so sorry for the odd angles.  I added some hearts punched from the silver glimmer card too.  I forgot to take a photo of the inside of the card.

P1110120

Now for the second wedding card.  This was for my lovely friend Andrea’s daughters wedding. Unfortunately we couldn’t make it but Josh and Carlie went along.  I am sure you will see more details of the wedding on Andrea’s blog here when she can catch her breath a bit! Here is the card I made for Skye and Mitch.  It is the same design.  Why change it, although you would think I would have had this done in record time but I think it took me longer than the other 2 put together!!! I just couldn’t get the colours happening together.

For this card I used the ‘Venetian Romance’ DSP and Pistachio Pudding card base.

P1110122

Another odd angle!!  I wanted to show you the other side of the circle.  I cut a scallop circle from silver glimmer paper and stamped one of the labels in Pistachio Pudding.  The greeting is from ‘Fabulous Phrases’ and punched out with the 1″ circle punch to layer over it.  Not sure that I should have stamped the greeting in Island Indigo though???

P1110125

There you go.  Hope you like???  Thanks for stopping by.  See you again soon,

A SPECIAL WEDDING CARD!

A little while ago I shared a Wedding acceptance card.  You can see it in this post here but here is the card if you missed it.  For that card I used the colours from the Wedding invite.

P1100463

Well the big day arrived yesterday.  I thought I would show you the Wedding card now.  Once again I used similar colours for the Wedding card and I have also used the new circle Thinlets. Unfortunately the lighting wasn’t great to take photos as we have had lots of rain lately. It was so nice to see the sun shining for the wedding day yesterday. 🙂

P1100617

P1100623

I have used Baked Brown Sugar and Crisp Canteloupe.  The gold circle behind the label and on the heart is using the Gold Foil Sheets and I ran them through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  The “Mr and Mrs” is from ‘Label Love’ and was embossed.  It has a nice shine to it.  It’s just a shame that  you can’t see that to well even in the close up!  I have used the ‘Venetian Romance’ DSP.

P1100618-1

Here is the inside. I just decorated on the back of the circle. The space to write on was under the extended flap.

P1100624

I hope they like the card.  It was a lovely day to celebrate with all the family.

Ok, just a quick wedding snap.  It was a bit emotional! But such a lovely setting.

P1100642

The thunder rolled in and it looked like rain but it passed us by!

P1100671

Here is my Great Niece Jakayla,  Carlie and my Niece Megan.

P1100649

Thanks for visiting. The sun is out again today so I guess one must catch up on some washing!  See you soon.
