VELLUM SWALLOWTAIL!

I held a class a couple of weeks ago using vellum.  I think everyone loved the projects.  I will show you them eventually but I first wanted to show you this card.  This was a card I made as a sample of one of the ways of using vellum.  I used the Swallowtail stamp from the Seasonal Catalogue.  I love this big butterfly.  I am so glad it has made the new annual Catalogue.  I plan on doing a lot more with this one.

P1080345           P1080342

I love the 3D effect with this.  It was purely unintentional but I like it!

I have used the Stained glass technique.  I stamped the Swallowtail stamp with Stazon on Vellum then coloured the back of the image with Pumpin Pie Marker almost to the edge of the image.  (Be sure to colour the back to give it a softer effect).  I used the Aquapainter to lightly blend the colour out at the edge and that lightened the colour.  I coloured the antenna with Black Marker also. I cut the butterfly out when it dried (that didn’t take long) and it curled up a little.  I was a little disappointed at first but then thought it added dimension to the image. I cut down the right side of the butterfly to fit the Whisper White mat (which I had already adhered to the Black mat and to the Pumpkin Pie Base card).  I adhered the butterfly on the right side and under the antenna and added a couple of glue dots under parts of the left hand edge just to adhere it down in places.  I added some Linen Thread and the greeting is from Petite Pairs.

I hope you like the effect.  I was pleased with how it turned out.

Some more vellum projects soon so stay tuned.

Hope your staying warm and dry for those on the East Coast of Australia.  It is wet AND cold!!!

SPONGED ‘BY THE TIDE’

P1090314-1

At our team meeting on Wednesday night Sarah showed us how to create this card using ‘By The Tide’.  As usual I didn’t finish it then but managed to finish it today.  (Fancy that not only do I finish I card from a team meeting BUT I post it the day I finished!!!). The base card is Midnight Muse and it is all stamped on Marina Mist card.  The coral is stamped in versamark and embossed with white Embossing Powder. The “sand” edges are torn strips of Crumb Cake and sponged over with Soft Suede.  I added a little extra sponging around the edge of the card with Midnight Muse and added a couple of seahorses in the background stamped with Marina Mist. The fish are stamped in Stazon on Whisper White card and coloured with a blender pen and inkpads. I added the tag from the set too punched out with the 1″ circle punch and some burlap style trim.

You did good Sarah 😉

Thanks for stopping by,

Jenny

A SPECIAL DOILY DRESS!

I can finally show you this card now.  I made it a couple of months ago for my Niece’s 19th Birthday. I think it is safe to show you now.  🙂

Megans Dress card

The dress is made from 2 Tea Lace Paper Doilies.  I found the idea for the folding on Becky’s blog.  I thought I could show you the folding but why not stop by Becky’s blog here and you can check it out!  I tied around some Island Indigo satin ribbon from Sale-A-Bration.

I have layered the dress on a piece of Island Indigo card that I ran through the Big Shot with the Vine Embossing Folder.  The bottom edge was cut with the Adorning Accents Edgelits.  I stamped the greeting in Island Indigo using the Curly Cute stampset.  If you want to get hold of this set you better be quick.  You only have just over a week and it will be GONE!!!!

I’m glad I can finally show you this card. I think it was well-received????

See you again soon,

Jenny

I couldn’t resist the ‘Sunshine’ stamp.  That saying has been special in our family for years. It is a song I sang to Carlie a lot when she was young (and still do sometimes).  I plan to do some pages with them.   I made a quick card the other day.  I have to say I passed over all my new preorder sets to ink this up first.   Here is a quick card I made.  When Carlie saw it she asked if this was her Birthday card. Well I did make it orange her favourite colour!

P1090254-1

I used the Adorning Accents Edgelits and Folder on the edge.  The strip of ‘Floral District’ DSP is on the inside of the card.  The card base is Tangerine Tango.  The zig-zag edge is cut with the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die.

THE BEST OF ………..

Best-of_Flowers_flyer

STAMPIN’ UP! BOUTIQUE BOXES!

I have had the Boutique Boxes Kit since the Seasonal Catalogue came out.  I put some together a few months back and then I was so busy with Convention Swaps that I didn’t get back to them.  The other day I was pacing the floor waiting for the delivery man with my preorder (yes, you can relate to that!) and saw them sitting in my craft room.  I thought it was time I got back to finishing them before I started on new projects.  You can find the Boutique Boxes Designer Printed Kit on p25 of the Seasonal Catalogue and it only $13.95.  There are 8 die-cut boxes in the set you assemble (very easily with 1 piece of Sticky Strip). There is also a sheet of paper die-cuts,  Crumb Cake Twine and some buttons.  Everything you need to assemble them!

Boutique Boxes

You will notice there are only 7 here.   Ok, I really stuffed one up and that was filed nicely in my recycling bin. 🙂

On these I used a lot of the embellishments in the set but there was still some over you could add to cards.  I added a Paper Lace Doily on one and Summer Starfruit Scallop circle but you could easily do without them.  These are an ideal size to give a Gift Card in or something small like that. Remember there is only a couple of weeks left of the Seasonal Catalogue so if you want to get any of these products then grab them soon.

Thanks for stopping by.  My Delivery Man arrived.  I have varnished my wood Blocks and need to get creating!!

I thought I would just stop by with a quick one today to show you all my swaps I received in return at the Stampin’ Up! Convention recently.  I tried to group them together to make it easier and I am not going to say too much about them.  There are some fantastic swaps and certainly ideas to keep me going for a while I think.

ON THE STAGE – BRISBANE STAMPIN’ UP! CONVENTION

It has been a busy time since I have got back from Brisbane.  All the excitement of the new Catalogue coming out and the Retirement List has just been announced. So much to take in!! Today though I can finally show you some of the projects we saw presented on Stage.  There were so many amazing projects that I really can’t show you them all but I thought I would point a few out to you.

Firstly,  we can’t go past Shelli, CEO and Cofounder of Stampin’ Up!.  Being the 25th Anniversary of Stampin’ Up! there were a few memories being shared.  It is amazing from those humble beginnings of Stampin’ Up! this home-based business has spread throughout the world.

P1080545

Who would have thought this guy would turn up to a Stamping event??? I will tell you about him a bit later.

P1080548

Bonnie Thurber, Demonstrator Training Director in the US.  She is so entertaining and always has some very clever projects.

P1080553

This is one of the projects she shared using a new product from the upcoming catalogue.

P1080557

Here is a close-up of the cute little note cards she made to go in the box.  So simple but sometimes you don’t need to do too much.

P1080594

Check this display out.  Sophie Zadeh, Training Facilitator in Aust/NZ shared these creations with us. She mixed white paint with various colours of reinkers to colour these bottles.  Just add a little reinker to the paint a little at a time until you get the colour you want.  You can add a little water to make it a runnier consistency.  Pour in to your fancy glass bottles and mix and swirl around.  Don’t shake it too much. Then leave it to dry for a while.  See the green bubbly bottle.  That happened from real flowers being left in the glass overnight.  The moisture in the flowers reacted and created bubbles.  I think it looks really cool!  See there are no mistakes in creating!

P1090152

I have to show you this project.  Ngaire, a Demonstrator from WA shared some ideas using the Dress Ups Die.  I thought this was really clever.  You have to be able to eat 16 Ferrero Rocher chocolates though before you can make this project.  The papers are folded. Some are in 1/2 some in 1/4’s.  Then they are layered up to create the skirt.  How do people think up these clever ideas!

P1080974

Have you seen the new Incolors yet?  I am sure if you have been trawling the internet you have seen them.  I really like these colours this year and can’t wait to get hold of them.  (Mine are on there way!!!!)  I really love how they are displayed on this.  This was another project by Sophie.  She used the new Incolor Boutique Details buttons.

P1090155

Back to the guy with the big red shoes.  Ronald McDonald himself turned up to announce that Stampin’ Up! South Pacific has joined with Ronald McDonald House Charities.  This means that $3 from an exclusive stamp set will be donated to assist the running of Ronald McDonald Houses.  These are located near major hospitals to provide accommodation for children and their families who are undergoing treatment at the hospital.  Also, Demonstrators living close-by will be able to volunteer to help in these homes as well.  We can also be involved in other fundraising events for them too. This is awesome! You will hear about this some more over the coming months I am sure.

I think this might give you an insight in to some of the adventures of Convention.  It really is a fantastic time and I think this year was even more special celebrating the 25th Anniversary.

I still have swaps to show you.  I have pulled them out once since I got back but sometime this week I will get them out to take some photos so stop by soon.

MORE BRISBANE CONVENTION NEWS

Some more highlights of the Stampin’ Up! Convention last week.

I forgot to show you this yesterday.  This was our gift from Stampin’ Up! for Leadership.  Isn’t it cool!! It’s a tin like the old film reel tins.  It had a stampset in from the new catalogue so I can’t show you that yet.  The tin was tied up in some ribbon and had a lovely tag.  It was very special.

P1090185

Of course, something we always look forward to is “the Convention bag”.

P1090186

This year it was a silver and white back pack to commemorate the 25th Anniversary.  It has So many pockets which is neat although you have to remember which pocket you put that thing in.  Carlie counted the pockets and there were 19!!

Memento Mall is also a highlight.  A bonus as Manager and above we get to go early as VIP’s and avoid the crowd!

P1080522

I always love the displays.

P1080517

Shopping is done!

P1080524

Thanks for looking!! More exciting Convention news next time.

“STAMPIN’ UP! LEADERSHIP – BRISBANE”

I am back from Brisbane from what I think would have to be THE BEST Convention EVER!!!!  It was an awesome time and I have so many new ideas to try.  Yes, we did get lots of free goodies which I think I might have mentioned once or twice recently but it was so great just being there and meeting up with friends and making new friends.

Sorry I was not able to show you any photos in last post but I had limited internet access.  I am just going through some photos and I will be showing you some of the highlights over the next week.

Before Convention officially started the Leadership event was held.  This was for Managers and above.  I was so excited to be there this year.  We had a few sessions during the day with some business tips and goal setting which was really helpful.  Then in the night we had a dinner which was very yummy!!!!!

Here is our group all dressed up with somewhere to go!

Us

Vanessa Webb on the Left (our fearless ‘Inky Fingers’ Team Leader’), Leonie N., Me and Wendy W.  (Thanks Ness for the photo).

During the night our names were flashed up on the screen.  That was very exciting! They scrolled through the names several times so we sat poised through several rotations to catch a photo of our name!!!

P1080490

I forgot to take a photo of the main meal but it was a very yummy chicken dish with asparagus and sweet corn puree.  Now I didn’t forget to take a photo of  the Dessert though!

This was a “warm chocolate fondant, Buderim Candied Ginger Icecream with Banana Sauce”  Now I am not a fan of ginger but it was not an overpowering flavour.  It was all just so YUMMY!!!!

P1080493

Here is a view from outside the window at the “Big Wheel”.  It was a huge Ferris Wheel by the river and it looked pretty stunning lit up at night with the Brisbane skyline in the background.

P1080500

That is a start for you.  I will be back soon with some more highlights.
