CARDS IN A BOX!!!

I have been creating.  I wanted to make a box that fits the standard A5 size cards in.  I spent a bit of time blurfing and couldn’t find exactly what I wanted.  A lot of boxes fit the small love note size cards in.  I did come across a box at scor-pal but when I put it together it still didn’t quite work.  So based on these directions I created my own.  This box fits 4 A5 cards and envelopes in nice  and snugly.  It is very quick to put together once I got the size right.  I made 4 cards and matching envelopes with the matching box.

This is the box.

And then the 4 matching cards and envelopes.

If you would like to come along to a class to make these gift boxes I am holding one on Thursday 25th and Saturday 27th June.  So let me know.  Check my CLASS  page out for details.

A HEART FOR BELLA!

This is for all you die-hard Twilight fans.  (I probably shouldn’t use that term!!).  I just made this card today.  Funny how inspiration comes to you.  I was out walking my dog this morning and I passed by a car that had a crystal hanging from the rear view mirror.  As I am reading Eclipse at the moment (the 3rd in the series) it got me thinking about the crystal heart that Edward gave Bella (and we all go AAHHHH!!).  Anyway, I was thinking about it on a card and came up with this.  Last week our team challenge was to use red and embossing.  Since I hadn’t got around to doing it yet I thought that would work well with this card.

Here is a close-up of the heart so you can see the sparkle.

PICT1226

I stamped the Baroque Motifs swirl in Versamark and Basic Black and clear embossed them on Real Red card.  I did the same with the word ‘cherish’.  I stamped the heart from ‘Best Wishes and More’ in versamark onto vellum.  I sprinkled over heat and stick powder and heated it with the heating tool.  I then sprinkled over dazzling diamonds and heated it again slightly.  You need to heat the vellum gently so it doesn’t burn.  I cut it out and adhered it to the card.  I sponged around the edges with basic black.  I then adhered this to black card and then to real red base.  There you have it.- Bella’s crystal heart!!  TFL.

A BOY PAGE!

Two posts in one day!  It’s not very often that happens.  While we were on the topic of scrapbooking I thought I would show you this page.  This is a 6×6 page I have been showing at my workshops lately.  I was inspired by a cover on a scrapbooking magazine I read a while ago.  Not sure which one now!

boys

I have sponged around the edge of Baja Breeze cardstock in Whisper White ink.  I have cut a strip of paper from the SU Urban Garden DSP and adhered this onto a strip of Night of Navy card.  I added a mat of Kiwi Kiss and then punched out some stars using the small and large star punch.  I raised the small stars with dimensionals.  I used the Schoolbook Serif Alphabet stamps inked up in Night of Navy to stamp ‘boys’.  When you stamp the word  it run up on to the Kiwi Kiss mat and you get a little gap, so I filled it in with my Night of Navy marker.  It is a very simple page but I was pleased with how it turned out.  It is a quick page to show at a workshop.

Do you need any of these supplies or any other products from Stampin’ Up!.  Let me know.  I can have them shipped anywhere in Australia.  Check out my VIS club page to see how you can benefit from purchases over $50.  Check back again soon as I will show you some other projects I have been working on.

A PAGE WITH STYLE – PART 2!

Well, it’s taken me a few days to get back here.  Life is busy some times!  I have got lots to show you though.  Last post I showed you pages I created with a Heritage style and a Classic style.  The other 2 styles we looked at in my Scrapbooking 101 class were the Pop style and Shabby Chic.  Now, I have a lot to learn about scrapbooking and I have limited supplies, but these might give you some ideas.

First, to the Pop Style.  Just ignore the photo won’t you!  It was taken at my DH’s 40th birthday party 2 years ago.  Yes, it was a 50’s party.  The  Pop style of scrapbooking is fun and bright, generally following the trend.  It consists of simple text and simple words, fun shapes and symbols.

rock

Cardstock: YoYo Yellow, Brilliant Blue, Only Orange.

Inks: Only Orange, Brilliant Blue markers.

Stamps: Simple Serif Mini Alphabet and Numbers.

Other: Large Star Punch, Small star punch, dimensionals

I love how the stars punch out using the small and large punch together.

The next page is showing the Shabby Chic style.  This is of my DD taken a few years ago.  This is her favourite Dress Up Dress, and she does look gorgeous!!

Shabby Chic style of scrapbooking is typically with torn and distressed papers, lots of embellishments and usually pastel colours.   I have sponged around the edge of Real Red card with the white ink pad and then used the white gel pen to create faux stitching.  I have torn the edges of the Raspberry Tart paper and the Kiwi Kiss card strip.  You can’t see the heart too well, but I have rock and rolled the heart in regal rose and then Rose Red.  I have added some Dazzling Diamonds with the 2-way glue pen.

Carlie Shabby Chic

Card: Real Red, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart DSP.

Inks: Regal Rose, Rose Red, Whisper White,

Stamps: Best Wishes and More.

Other: White Gel Pen, 2-way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals.

I think this page is beautiful anyway!!!

I have more to show you later.  Till then – Happy Stamping!!!

A PAGE HAS STYLE!!!

A couple of weeks ago I ran a Scrapbooking 101 class. I talked about
different scrapbooking styles. We looked at 4 styles: Heritage, Classic, Pop and Shabby Chic. I made a 6×6 page for each of the 4 styles. This first one shows the Heritage style. This style generally depicts historical or vintage memorabilia, and uses earthy tones.  Journalling is usually more detailed and personal.  I hadn’t put any journalling on this page because of the size of the page, but I don’t think it needs to say a lot either.

Mum and Dad H

This is my MIL and FIL taken a LITTLE while ago.  My FIL passed away 7 years ago so this is a very special photo.  I have clear embossed the ‘a’, and how can you go wrong with Baroque Motifs?  This set works really well with heritage pages.

Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Always

Inks: Sage Shadow, Choc Chip.    Markers:  Choc Chip, Creamy Caramel.

Card: Sage Shadow, Choc Chip, Very Vanilla.

Others: Clear EP, Heat Tool, Dimensionals. 1 1/4″ and 1 3/8″ circle Punch.

The next page shows a Classic Style.  This is typically very simple,  pages are uncluttered and generally with square or rectangular shapes.  Journalling is in a simple font and embellishments are used sparingly.

Classic Carlie

This is my DD taken at California Adventures when we went to the US last year.  I have kept it simple.  I have just realised I haven’t put dates on either of these photos, so I will have to amend that.

Stamps:  Simple Serif Mini Alphabet, Art by Design, short and Sweet.

Inks: Baja Breeze, Close to Cocoa.

Card: Urban Garden DSP, Close to Cocoa and Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Dimensionals, 2 way glue pen, dazzling diamonds.

In the next couple of days I will show you my 2 other pages showing the other 2 styles – Pop and Shabby Chic.

I am running the Scrapbooking 101 class in June again if you missed out.  For those who came along to the first one or who would like to learn more about layouts and sketches then come along to Part 2 (see my class page for details.

Look What I Got?

Today I got a nice surprise in my mailbox.  It was a special parcel from the lovely Tanya.  Look at this.  Don’t I feel spoilt! Go and check out Tanya’s blog.

This was a prize for winning the recent Non-Convention Goers online sketch challenge.  This was my entry.

Tanya made this cute box from some ‘Sweet Always’ DSP.  It’s a wonder you can’t smell it!  Inside had some beautiful handcream and soap, as well as a tealight candle and this lovely bookmark she made using the felt ‘flower fusion too’.  Isn’t it great.  It was so special.  Thanks Tanya you made my day XO.

I also received some great swaps from some very clever demos around Australia.  Here they are for you.

IMG_0002

The first one is mine I made.  This is using Rose Red and Regal Rose cardstock.  I used the ‘Best Wishes and More’ stampset and ‘Weathered’ background.  You can’t quite see the bling on the picture though.  I added some dazzling diamonds on the heart and the Taken with Teal piece.  That piece actually is the centre of the snowflake in that set.

The next 2 cards are by Tanya.  She has made the rooster look good!  This is a Level 2 hostess set. Rustic Rooster.  I love the layout on this one.  My DD loved this next one.  She has been asking me to buy this set.  This is ‘Just Jawing’.   I love the glittery heart eyes using the chunky glitter.

IMG_0001

In this group, the first one is by Margaret Knoops. She has used the ‘Crazy for Cupcakes’ set.  I love the eyelets and she has used the chunky glitter too.  The next one is from Rebecca using ‘Crazy for Cupcakes’.  She has used some chunky glitter and fine supernova for extra bling.  I love the layout on this one.  The end one is from Claire Harrison.  She has used ‘Inspired by Nature’.  I love this set.  This is one on my evergrowing wishlist.  She has used some lovely In-Colours of Baja Breeze and Pacific Point.  It is a very clever effect using the white gel pen and basic black marker to highlight the image.

It was great fun being part of the non-convention goers online weekend.  I still have to make a few of the projects, when I find some time!
