Personal Ramblings, Stampin' Up!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

8 birthday

It’s my Stampin’ Up! Birthday today.  8 years ago I joined Stampin’ Up! Back then I was joining to get a great discount of these awesome products, hopefully earn a little income along the way and it gave me an excuse to craft away my day!! Hehe!!  Now while I love the discount and the free products I get, the best part is all the friends I have made. Along with my local customers and friends, I have friends now from all over the world that I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t become part of this great big family.

So I am celebrating all my new found friends.  Thanks for coming a part of my life. You are very special to me and I mean that.  xx

To many more fun years of creating – and hopefully inspiring you.  Thanks for visiting me. I know there are hundreds of Stampin’ Up! blogs around.  So I appreciate you taking the time to visit me.  I hope that when you visit you might feel inspired and maybe encouraged.  I hope to brighten your day.

Do comment and say Hello.  Tell me where you are from.  I love to hear from you.

Thanks again,

Jenny x

Take the virtual tour HERE.

Enjoy.  Let me know there or a comment here what you think –  of the catalogue and the video! Any helpful tips are appreciated. 🙂

WE STAMP FOR LARA 2016!

Lara header

I have been on a secret project the last few weeks.  I am so excited and honoured to be a part of it and I am glad I can now share it with you.  A group of demonstrators have put together some awesome tutorial projects for you all to raise money for this special family. Madonna is a former demonstrator and a friend and I have followed along with their struggles right from the beginning. Let me share a little bit about their story from her Mum Madonna….

Lara was born on the 5th of November 2008. The fourth child of Mark and Madonna. She was different to her siblings. She looked different…she had twisted feet….she didn’t cry like the other babies. She didn’t move like them either. However, after a week in the nicu we were released to go home, with a paediatrician’s words ringing in our heads “She may or may not be normal, depending of if she does or does not reach developmental milestones.” She was given a diagnosis of Cerebral palsy at 5 months during a hospital stint to correct a floppy voicebox. During that stay she was also put on naso-gastric feeding (a tube down the nose and into her tummy). By one she had started having seizures and had a number of other “foibles”.
Over the last seven and a bit years Lara has had many hospital stays with a number of illnesses. She has been diagnosed as having a “life-limited” condition. We do not know what that means. We do know that she is unable to talk or walk. She cannot communicate via traditional words or even gestures as her ability to control her limbs is very limited. What she does do is convey her love through her eyes. She verbalises some sounds and is very quick to moan and whinge if she wants to be moved or has a full nappy!

Lara has a plethora of drugs each day to keep her seizure activity stable. This is mostly successful but a simple cold can be enough to put us in hospital for a little visit due to her compromised immunity and poor lung function. She needs to be moved into different positions to help her manage her secretions and to prevent pressure areas.

One of the items we are looking at fundraising for over the next few months is a better pressure mattress for Lara’s bed. She has a hospital bed that we are able to manoeuvre into various positions for her (tilt, height etc) but the mattress is very simple and we use an egg shell topper at the moment to assist in the pressure management. We (actually, Mark..mostly) move her from side to side during the night to alleviate the risk of pressure areas. An appropriate mattress can help with those risks.

We are so grateful to all of you for always being willing to put your hands up to help us to Help Lara. She is a delight and a blessing. If you have ever gazed into the depths of her gorgeous blue eyes you would understand she is a special little person in more ways than just her diagnoses.

Lara

If you want to read more about Lara’s Life you can visit her Facebook page HERE.

So will you help us out?  You can from anywhere in the world.

HOW IT WORKS.

For $15 you will receive 15 projects each day for 15 days! That’s $1 per tutorial!  All the money goes directly to help get this family this special mattress.  Let’s help give them a good night sleep.

This fundraiser runs from 1st May to the 15th May.  You can join at any time during that time and still receive all the tutorials.

Drop me a comment and I will get back to you with the payment details (by bank deposit or Paypal) and to add you to the special Facebook group where you will access the tutorials.  If you haven’t got Facebook but want to join in then please let me know that too. 🙂

Here is a sneak of my project coming up soon.

?

So let’s do this.  I am joining in as I want to get all these great tutorials but more importantly help this lovely family.

STAMPIN’ UP! ONSTAGE 2016

?
?

By now you have probably heard of the Onstage Event last weekend and some of the things that went on.  I have finally had a chance to upload my photos and go through some.  I mean some!  How can one person take so many photos on one day!!! 😉 Anyway, I will show you some in this post and share some of the other projects later.

It is always exciting getting together at these events. Knowing that Demonstrators were meeting together in various places around the world at the same time was pretty exciting too.  I went to Sydney for our local event.

Here is some of our Inky Fingers team.

Busily creating one of the Make and Takes for the day.  I will share them at a later date.  I actually finished them all this time.  Usually they go home unfinished – and for the most part they stay unfinished!

WHY I LOVE SHARING STAMPING??

Three posts in one day. What is happening!  Today I have been feeling a little reflective and I thought I would share some things with you.  I have been on this journey with Stampin’ Up! for 7 1/2 years now.  It has been a crazy time. You know I still don’t know all there is to stamping and cardmaking.  There is always fun new techniques and products to play around with.  Sometimes I wonder why am I doing this though.

I always come back to the conclusion that I love sharing stamping with others.  I love sharing my projects with you here on my blog.  (I do hope you like what I share – if you don’t well I guess you won’t come back will you!! LOL).  I love sharing my projects with my customers in my class room. It’s always a fun time and I have to say that sometimes they laugh at my expense.  Well hey, I am not perfect am I.  There are never any mistakes in stamping though right. 🙂  I love it though when new people I meet have that smile on their face that says “I did it!” after continually telling me that they are not crafty.

I love sharing projects I make with others too to give as gifts or to celebrate an occasion. That’s what it is all about. Sharing with others.  I am thankful to Stampin’ Up! for enabling me to do this.  Without Stampin’ Up!  I wouldn’t have fantastic products to use, I wouldn’t have team mates and wonderful friends here and around the world that I can share with.  I couldn’t afford to buy all these amazing products without the great discount I get or the little freebies (or rewards!) I get along the way.

I love being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator to be able to do all this.  I am thankful for all it has given me.  I am thankful for my customers (who I call my friends). Many who have been with me from those very early days. I am thankful for my friends I have made near and far.  I am thankful to my blog readers (MWAH!). I will be around for a little while still.

THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF MY LIFE!

I found this on the internet.  I hope they don’t mind me sharing but it sums it all up really.

not just about stamps

Jenny

If you want to know more about joining Stampin’ Up! then read my 10 reasons ‘Why you should be part of the Stampin’ Up! family’ page HERE. Remember there is only 2 weeks left of Sale-A-Bration to get $295 of products for $169 (That’s just crazy to knock back). You will be on your way to your own journey. It might be to share your own projects in classes or on a blog OR sharing your created gifts among friends and family BUT I can assure you, You won’t regret it!

There is a link on that page how to join my team and we can cheer each other on.  Do think on it – but not for too long.

cards, Personal Ramblings

A CARD MADE BY JOSH!

OK, I know I have posted today BUT… I have to share this with you.  My Son Josh (19) often asks me ON THE DAY for a card. Well, yesterday he asked if I would help him make a card for a friend who is in hospital.  Oh my!! My heart skipped a beat….. 🙂

Finally this afternoon we got around to making it.  It was hot BUT this had to be done.  He had asked her the colours that make her happy and she replied with Forest Green, Navy, Mustard!!!! OK????!!!

I had already picked out the set ‘Rose Wonder’.  I thought the sentiments were very appropriate.  I picked a couple of other stamp sets out that I thought would be suitable AND would work with those colours.

Josh had an idea what he thought he might do.  I gave him a little direction with the colours AND I have to say scaling back a little on the stamping.  He was quite ready to stamp every stamp on there. 🙂  I also suggested raising up the sentiment.

So here is the finished card.

Night of Navy is the card base and then a mat of Crushed Curry.  The bush from ‘Awesomely Artistic’ is stamped in Mossy Meadow. I did add a little glitter with the Wink of Stella Clear Brush but it doesn’t show up very well in the photo.

Since it was a Night of Navy card base I suggested we have some white card inside.  So he stamped inside as well.

We used ‘Awesomely Artistic’ and ‘Gorgeous Grunge’.

Now he has given me permission to post this.  I am very proud of him.  He could have just got me to make one for him but I thought this is a tremendous effort.  He was very impressed with it all and of course loved the Big Shot.  Don’t we all!

So I hope you might stand with me and give him a round of applause for such a great effort – and for his thoughtfulness. 🙂 That’s my boy!

I will be back again soon.  Or maybe I will get Josh to make another card to share. 😉

TIME FOR A CHANGE!

under maintenance

They say a change is as good as a holiday, right?? I thought it was time to freshen up my blog and update it. I spent a few hours last night and today changing the look and updating all the information.  It is still a work in progress but it is a good feeling.  Maybe this is following my decluttering of the house. 🙂

If you receive my blog posts as an email or in your reader you wouldn’t notice any changes. Maybe stop by occasionally.  It is always surprising when I visit blogs that I get through email.

You will now find the Page Tabs at the top.  I have a page there for my tutorial posts which is updated often.  There is also pages there on Stampin’ Up! specials and Joining and Party information Plus my Class Schedule.  So stop a while and visit. I always like a comment now and then too.  So don’t forget to say ‘HI’ once in a while. It’s nice to know I am not talking to myself. I do that enough 😉

I am going to be reorganising my Pinterest boards next and update my newsletters. So watch out!!! Have you subscribed to my newsletter? There is a link in the right hand side bar to do just that.

Thanks for stopping by.  Grab a cuppa and have a look around.  I will be back soon with some more inspiration.

GOLDEN BUTTERFLY!

I wanted to share this special card with you.  I made this yesterday for my beautiful daughter Carlie who was confirmed last night.  It is a special day for her as she publicly declares her faith.  I am proud of the beautiful young lady she is becoming.  Just like an emerging butterfly ……. (is that a bit corny??)

Here is the card.  Initially I was CASING a card from Pinterest but it took a different direction.  Sometimes that happens. 😉

butterfly

The centre flowery image is from ‘I Think You’re Great’.  I haven’t used that stamp set in a while.  I was looking for a flourish type stamp in my collection and saw this set and thought I would dust it off.  I inked it first in Blushing Bride and then sponged the centre with Watermelon Wonder.  Then I stamped it on the Whisper White card.  I had already gold embossed the Congratulations (from ‘Timeless Love’) on the card as I was going to do something else, so I was really nervous doing this BUT hey, it’s just card right.  We can just try again. 🙂  I cut the butterfly from the Butterflies Thinlets in Gold Foil Sheets.

I adhered it to a Thick Whisper White card base to keep it crisp and fresh.  It just needed some gold sequins on it to finish I think.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a wonderful day in your part of the world.

Jenny
