DOGGIE THANKS!!

Just a quick one today.  A few of you who know me or who follow me on Facebook know that a few weeks ago my gorgeous dog was attacked in a brutal dog attack.  It was pretty distressing and I am not going to go in to the details again here.  I still shudder thinking about it and I get all teary.  I wanted to show you the cards I made for some wonderful neighbours who helped me out on the day in so many ways.  They were just so wonderful.  I have to say it is one way to get to know the neighbours 😉

These were just simple little cards measuring 10cmx10cm (4″x4″).  I wanted to say THANKS for their help.

I have used Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey for the colours.  I used the ‘Work of Art’ stamp set.  The little paw prints are from the retired set ‘D is for Dog’.  That is one retired stamp set that I have kept. I thought it was a cute little touch.  I stamped the inside of the card with some paw prints too.  After all it was from Scooby and I.  One I added Gold sequins and the other I added Rhinestones.

Thankfully I can say that Scooby has made a full recovery after a little stay at the Vet and lots of extra TLC.  He doesn’t seem too troubled by his experience thankfully. Here is my gorgeous boy. I wanted to spare you the gruesome photos.  This is a cute photo of him taken a few months ago.

Thanks for stopping by and allowing me to share my little story today.

Have a wonderful day wherever you may be.

THIS DAY FORWARD WEDDING!

The last couple of weeks/months have been really busy.  My Mum was married on Saturday so there has been a lot to do in preparing for the wedding and starting to pack up her house to move.  It was a great day on Saturday though and I am very happy for them both.  Now I know there is a lot of excitement with the new products from the Occasions Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration but I thought now was a good time to show you the invites and cards I made for them before it gets too much later.

Firstly, the engagement card.  I bought the set ‘This Day Forward’ especially for my Mum.  She loves birds and I knew that she would like it for the invitations as well.  Of course, I was assuming I was making them though! I will just tell you in advance in case you don’t work it out, my Mum likes blue!!! 😉

I started using the set for the Engagement card.

Is is hard to tell but I stamped the image in versamark and Marina Mist ink and then clear embossed it.  I matted it on Silver Glimmer Paper.

See the border??? This has been created with the Chevron Border Punch.  I cut 2 strips and punched along them.  Then I flipped one over and wove one through the other.  I saw this idea on my blog travels somewhere.  I added some Rhinestones in the centre and around the image (although they seem to look a bit black in the photo). Then I tied around some striped organza ribbon which is now retired.

Here is the Wedding Invitation.  I needed to keep it simple as there was not a lot of time.  These needed to get out before Christmas so it was crazy for a week or two.

P1100685

I was going to heat emboss the image again but that was going to take too long.  After I stamped the image I embossed the bottom edge with the hearts from the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder. The “You’re Invited” is from the set ‘A Dozen Thoughts’. This piece was then matted on Marina Mist card.  I added a white Taffeta ribbon bow and a Rhinestone.  For the card base I cut an A4 piece of card vertically and then scored it half way.  I embossed the inside edge with the hearts once again.  I cut the front bottom edge with the ‘Adorning Accents’ Edgelits.   I forgot to take a photo of the inside but I had the wedding details on a separate piece of paper and attached with 2 silver brads at the top.

Now for the wedding card.  It was 3 days out from the wedding and I thought maybe I should get the card made.  So of course I used ‘This Day Forward’ again.  I didn’t have a lot of time to make one but I was pleased with the end result.

P1110234

I stamped the image with versamark and Marina Mist and added clear embossing powder and heat embossed this.  Along the bottom edge of the card I dry embossed this with the ‘Delicate Designs’ Embossing Folder.  I added some white organza ribbon.  The sentiment from the set was heat embossed as well and then I cut a banner shape from one end.  This was raised using Dimensionals.  I added 3 Rhinestones to the hearts.

The inside was just kept simple.

OK, so just a couple of family pics.  If you are friends with me on Facebook you would have seen these so I don’t want to bore  you too much with these again.

Here is my Mum and her new husband.

I have to add my gorgeous girl.  Carlie was Bridesmaid and she looked beautiful!

Thanks for looking.  Hope I didn’t bore you too much.  All this was a whirlwind done in about 3 months. So I might just come up for air now – maybe!!!!  This year is turning out crazy.  Never fear though creating is what keeps me sane – or saner!  I will endeavour to share my projects with you as best I can.  I have been having fun playing with all the new products so I will show you some of them soon.

FOR A BIRTHDAY BOY!!!

I wanted to show you a special card today for my gorgeous big boy.  I have probably bored you enough about his Football pursuits BUT well it is his 17th birthday today so I have to show you the card I made for him.  I have had a number of people share this idea with me over the last few months.  Thanks so much my friends.  So I only just remembered to use this idea for his card.  This idea originally came from the blogosphere somewhere (sorry I can’t remember where) but recently it was on Pinterest.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

I used Cherry Cobbler which is close to his club colours since I don’t have Bravo Burgundy anymore.  The ‘Fence’ was created by brayering the inside of the Stripes Embossing Folder with Soft Suede and running Whisper White Card through it.  The card was too wide to fit so I cut it in half before embossing it and then joined it together on my Old Olive Card base.  (See you don’t even notice do you???).  I added a strip of Soft Suede card along the top of the fence.

Punches I used for the Football Dude:

1 3/8″ circle, 1 1/4″ circle, 1″ circle, 3/4″ circle, Word Window and 2-step Owl Punch.  I did a little cutting of some of the circles to adapt them to what I wanted.  The Helmet cage took the most work.  It is not quite right but it is OK, although Glenn and Josh thought it was a cool beard!!!!!?????  The stamp sets I have used are ‘Great Sport’ for the football and ‘Itty Bitty Banners’ for the greeting.

I hope you like my cool dude anyway.

HAPPY 17th BIRTHDAY JOSH!!  xx

Here are my gorgeous two this morning.  Love you both xx

AUSSIE FUTURE STARS IN ACTION!!

WARNING: Personal post ahead.  I am sorry.  I am just taking a moment just to share a family achievement with you.  I apologize in advance for my readers on Facebook as I have shared this there BUT I thought my readers might like to hear about this – or not!!!  Josh has just come back from the Gold Coast, Queensland.  This past week he took part in the Future Stars Gridiron Program.  There was intense training each day and it all culminated in competition games with 5 team from the United States.  On Wednesday he played the US Cougars.  This team was made up of players from High Schools in Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Ohio and Texas.  The Australian Future Stars won 40-36.  This was an incredible achievement.  The first time an Australian Team has beaten the US  in 24 year history of the Downunder Bowl.  The Future Stars came up against the US Grizzlies yesterday.  The Grizzlies were made up from players in Alabama, Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.   It was a tough game but the Aussies fought hard.  Unfortunately they went down 24-0.  So for my US readers: You still hold the Championship. 🙂

Here is a photo of both of the Grand Final teams: The Future Stars and the Grizzlies.  I think this is a great photo.  It is not often that you get a photo with both teams together after such a hard fought-out game but it shows the great spirit of the game.  Well done to both teams.  Josh is in the centre sitting down in the second row.

Here he is in action.  #48 on the left hand side. (Both photos courtesy of ‘Bring it on Sports Facebook page)

OK, thanks for your patience.  See you again soon for some stamping creations.

‘CLOCKWORKS’ – FOR THE BOYS!!

We all have trouble with cards for the Boys, don’t we???? I have a card for you today using the stamp set ‘Clockworks’.   I created this a couple of weeks ago when I was after some samples for class.  I must say I did CASE this from ‘nicepeoplestamp.com’.  I have seen versions of this on Pinterest too.  I changed the colours on my card.

P1080291

I have used Gumball Green, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake.  It’s a quick card for those male cards we need to make.  I should play around with this set a bit more.  I really haven’t used this set since I got it at Stampin’ Up! Regionals in September last year.  Just so many toys to play with sometimes!!!

Speaking of Boys, I thought I would give you a quick update on how the boys went last week at the National Gridiron Championships that Josh was playing in.  Just spare me a little “proud Mummy moment” OK 🙂  Last post I mentioned how New South Wales won their first game 36-24 after coming back in the second half to win.  The next game they played they won 69 NIL.  I did feel really sorry for the other team.  With two wins it meant they were through to the Grand Final held last Saturday.  It was a very tough game but NSW dug deep and their Defence was strong.  NSW were named Australian Champions with a win of 7-0.  It was a nail-biting finish though.  Well done NSW.  Well done Josh. Here he is in action in the Grand Final.  He is #28 – on top of the pack in the middle – of course!

I thought I would just show you a photo of Josh after the game with his prize-winning medal.

Thanks for indulging me. 🙂

Be back again soon with some card creations!!

A 16TH BIRTHDAY!!

I know I said I would show you some Pop-Up cards from our recent stamping weekend but I have to interrupt the posting.  I hope you don’t mind.  🙂  Yesterday was Josh’s 16th Birthday.  He has been hanging out for this day for so long.  It means now he can get his Learner’s Permit to drive!  I wanted to show you the card I made him – and Carlie’s cards she made him.

Josh is really in to Vinyl records at the moment.  Now I have to say, I thought they went out years ago.  Apparently they never left.  Anyway, we bought him a record player for his Birthday and he has been collecting records.  He is in to Hardcore music. Now it is not just any records.  It is cool for them to be coloured.  When I went looking for inspiration for his Birthday Card I came across a card on Pinterest that I thought would be great.  (Seriously, how much inspiration is there on Pinterest!!).  Anway, I digress again.  I tracked down the original card here by Gill.  I changed this around a bit to suit Josh’s card.  I created coloured records and added a ’16’.  By the way, Josh thought it was really cool.  He already has a green record along with all the other colours he has.  A pink one is on order and he will be getting a blue one soon.  Isn’t it great when you make a card, especially for the male species, and they take note of the details.

So, here is the card.

The circles are punched out with the 1 3/8″ circle punch and the black centres are punched with the 3/4″ circle.  I punched the centres of the black circles with the Crop-A-Dile.  The coloured circles are sponged and spritzed just the way they would be on the records.

I have to show you Carlie’s card she made too.  I think she did a fantastic job and she did it completely by herself.

Carlie has used a retired stamp set ‘Play Ball’ and some retired Brilliant Blue and Orchid Opulence Cardstock.  The balls are stamped in Crumb Cake.  Don’t you love the splodge effect from ‘Extreme Elements’???

Carlie wanted to make another card too and I have to show you.  She drew this one and I think it is very clever.  (Big Brother said it was “the best”!!)

On the front of the card it says “I love you this much….”.  Now this is a standard card size to give you an idea of the size. I will show you it opened up.

It is a bit hard to see the picture but she made it on a HUGE piece of paper and it just opens out and out and out….  It shows her long arms outstretched.  I thought she was very clever, and very special, to make this for her Big Brother.

Ok, Thanks for indulging me in a little personal family post.  I will get back to the Pop-Ups next post.

See you next time,

Jenny x
