Stampin' Up!, swaps

SYDNEY REGIONALS!!

I have just got back from Sydney Stampin’ Up! Regionals.  What a great day!!  There were lots of  ‘WOW’ and  ‘AAH’ moments.  So much to take in! I can’t wait to give all these different ideas a go.  I think that will have to wait a bit though until I get through the Christmas rush.  It was so great to meet up with lots of demonstrators that I chat to online or that I stalk their blog.  Of course, always a fun time with my stamping buddies too.  I received lots of great swaps back but I will need to go through them and take photos.  I will show you those soon.  I can now show you my swaps that I did.   I just kept to one design and did 2 different colours.

I started off doing the Old Olive.  After stamping the flowers from ‘Elements of Style’, I used the blender pen and inkpad to colour them in slightly.  This had been stamped on Very Vanilla, but I have to say it looks a little white in the photo.  I spritzed the card with the Old Olive marker.  A strip of Old Olive card was run through the Big Shot with the Very Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder.  I added some Adhesive Pearls.  The sentiment is from ‘Teeny Tiny Sentiments’.

I decided to do some in the Rich Razzleberry.  I quite liked how these turned out.  I didn’t colour these ones.  I added Rhinestones on these ones.

These cards were inspired by a card by Natasha Zandbergen here. Why don’t you stop by her blog sometimes.  She does some beautiful cards!

After a big day, I’m heading off to bed.  I will try and get back very soon to show you the swaps I received.  Have a lovely Sunday!!!

MORE SWAPS!

Are you ready for more swaps??? If you have been around a few blogs you might be sick of them by now.  Anyway, I thought I would show you mine.

This is the first one I did.  I watercoloured the leaves and dragonfly with the inkpads and blender pens.

Stamps: Embrace Life, Organic Grace, Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

Cards: Ruby Red (some were Riding Hood Red), Old Olive, More Mustard, Whisper White.

Ink: Old Olive, Ruby Red.

Other: Sponge, Blender Pen, Word Window Punch.

I would have liked to mount the dragonfly, or added some Dazzling Diamonds on his wings,  but with so many I passed on that!  It is just a simple card.

Here is a close-up of the dragonfly.

This is my other swap card I did.  I’m still not sure if I like it, but it got to the point I couldn’t change my mind anymore.

Stamps: French Script, Cottage Garden.

Card: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence, Old Olive, Whisper White.

Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive.

Other: Crimper, Eyelet Border Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, sponge, Crystal Effects.

Here is a close up.

After I sponged the flowers and adhered them together, I added a drop of crystal effects to the centre.

So, what do you think????

I have a couple of other cards that I was contemplating on.  I will show you those soon.  For now, I must run!!!

Happy Stamping! xx

I have finally had time to go through my swaps I received at convention.  I have never seen anything like this swap time.  It is a feeding frenzy – Just crazy!!!  It was only when I got home that I could see the swaps I actually got.

I can’t show you all the swaps I got.  I’d be here all day.  I have selected a few and grouped them to make it a bit easier.  So, without further ado …….

The flowery ones!!
Packed with a Punch!
Vintage Vogue and Medallion was very popular.
Some cute 3D swaps.
These are Carlie's Picks! (Had to show you them!!!)

Sorry, some of them are a bit hard to see because of the glare, but it might give you an idea.

Come back again in the next day or two and I will show you my swaps I did.  Certainly not to the standard of these, but anyway, I will show you.

IT’S TEAM SWAP TIME AGAIN!!

Last week we had our first team meeting for the year with Ness’ Inkyfingers.  I love these meetings.  I come away with such inspiration and encouragement.  Each month we have a team swap and although not everyone gets involved,  it is always a great way of getting ideas.

Here are our team swaps.  This month was Sale-A-Bration.

The ribbon loop on the left is a bookmark by JenniferLeonie has a gorgeous card with the Vintage Labels.  It has the French Script background stamp (Sorry, you can’t see that too well!).   The little cello bag with jelly snakes and the Good Neighbours topper was by Sarah.  I love how Sarah hung the tag from a hole in the eyelet punch border. My card is on the right.  I have more details on that below.  Andrea’s gorgeous card is at the bottom.  You can check that one out further on her blog.  Don’t you love the sparkles!  One day I will get a new camera that will take clearer photos!!!

My swap card was inpired by a card I saw on Splitcoast by stampingwithamy.com.  It is so simple but really lovely.  She had white ribbon along the bottom, but since I didn’t have any I went for the card strip and crimped card strip overlay.  That worked OK I think!!!

The sponged square was using the reverse masking technique.  I cut the shape from scrap card stock.  I used Dotto, a removal adhesive, to hold this piece while I sponged onto the card.  The scrap card can be easily removed to show the “neat” area!!  I then stamped the image with a darker tone of colour and added the greeting.  It was then simply a matter of adhering this to the base card and adding the same colour as the base card for the bottom strip and a crimped piece in the lighter shade on top.

I had made these cards for my Stamp-A-Stack this month and had several colour combinations.

On the left is Brocade Blue and Night of Navy, The middle Regal Rose and Rose Red, and the right, Tempting Turquoise and Taken with Teal.  Each one was using one of the images from the Sale-A-Bration set ‘Happy Moments’.  This is such a lovely set and is so versatile.  There are 4 images and 3 greetings you can use for any occasion.

Have you got your free set yet.  You have until the end of March to place an order of $100 and you can choose 1 of 4 great sets for FREE.  So, stock up on your cardstock and ink and grab a stamp set or a punch.  These are great sets and won’t be available after March.  I can have

SWAP TIME!!!

Where is the time going? The weeks are flying by.  I haven’t been able to post as frequently lately.  I have been very busy.  Saturday was the Sydney Stampin’ Up! Regional event.  This was my first one and it was so exciting!  It was great to meet up with lots of demos and be inspired by so many creative people.  One of the fun parts is swapping with other demos.  It’s great getting lots of new ideas.  I can’t show you the other swaps just yet, but I can show you mine.

This card was inspired by a card I saw on Splitcoast, but now I just can’t find it.  I have been through there so many times.  So, let me know if you see one similar 🙂

Card: Elegant Eggplant, Rose Red, Old Olive, Whisper White.

Ink: Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant Inkpad and Marker.

Stamps: Thoughts and Prayers, Upsy Daisy.

Other:  1 1/4″ Circle Punch, Large Oval Punch, Sponge, Dimensionals, Crimper.

After I stamped the tree from Thoughts and Prayers, I masked a circle and sponged lightly in the circle with the Elegant Eggplant Ink.  Then used the fine point on the marker and dotted around the circle.  Ipunched 2 ovals from the large oval punch and layered them under the Whisper White oval that I had stamped the greeting on.  I mounted them up on dimensionals.  I crimped the Rose Red strip and swiped the Elegant Eggplant inkpad over to pick up the ink on the crimped edge.

Hope you like!!  🙂

Must run.  Stop by again soon.

PUNCH SWAPS!!

This month’s team swap was to use punches!  Last month was a non-stamping swap and I had chosen to use punches then.  This is the little ballerina I made.  After a big project with that one I thought I would keep this one nice and simple.  So this was my card.

PICT1767

I cased this from this year’s Stampin’ Up! Catalogue on p141.  I just changed it a little.  I liked the simplicity of the card and think it is a great one to do multiple copies for Christmas Cards.  As it was I made a lot of them for the swaps!  I like the effect of the punched out small star in the larger star.  To do this, first punch out the small star from your cardstock.  Make sure you leave room around it.  Then turn the large star upside down and place it in your cardstock.  That is the great thing with the Stampin’ Up! punches that you can see what you are doing from underneath the punch.  Line the large punch up around the smaller star so it is even – and then punch it out!  It is great.  You can do this with any different size punches such as the circles and ovals. I added a row of paper piercing and some staples.  I like using the staples they just add another dimension on the card.  This is what I have used.

Stamps: Short and Sweet.

Card: Baja Breeze, Real Red, Old Olive, Ski Slope DSP.

Ink: Real Red.

Other: Small and large star punches, dimensionals, paper piercer and mat, stapler.

Well, my card was pretty boring compared to some of the other team cards.  Here are some very clever creations.

A BALLERINA!

Last week our ‘Inkyfingers’ Team swap was a non-stamping card.  I wasn’t too sure about this one.  How could you make a card without stamps!! Yet when I first started making cards I never used stamps I just stuck pictures onto cards.  I could do this!!!!

I turned to splitcoaststampers.  I thought I could do a punch card or paper folding!!  I came across this really cute card by huffergirl.  I loved it!  So I unashamedly cased it!
Here is my version:

Notice the bling!!

Here are the 3 versions of them.
PICT1614

Card: Cameo Coral with Blush Blossom mat, Lavender Lace with Pale Plum mat, and Regal Rose with Pretty in Pink mat.  Also, Choc Chip, Very Vanilla and Whisper White.

Other: Word window Punch, 3/4″ circle punch, Scallop Circle punch, corner rounder, 2 way glue, Dazzling Diamonds, Mounting Tape and Adhesive, Blender Pen, Stampin’ Pastels, black Stampin’ Write journaller, white gel pen.

To make the heart I didn’t have a heart punch so I cut a heart from a scallop circle.  I inked the edges of the scallop circle tutu and the heart, also the card mat.  I used the pastels to mark in the ballet shoes and her cheeks.   I used the black journaller pen to mark the eyes. I used the white gel pen to write the greeting. If you want to know more about how I put it together just email me.

Here are some of the team’s cards:

So, it is possible to create a card without stamping!!! LOL
