AN AVIARY CHALLENGE!

This past week I have been doing some challenges and projects at INKSPIRATIONS4U.  There are some great projects.  There is still time to join in if you would like to, just pop on over to Madeline’s blog and find out all about it there.

This is a card I made for the first colour challenge.  The colours to use were Pretty in Pink, Basic Gray and Rich Razzleberry.  I have to say I really struggled putting the Gray with the Razzleberry.  I felt they were too dark together so it took me a while to work on it.

I wanted to use the ‘Aviary’ set which I am really having a lot of fun with.  The card was inspired from a couple of different cards from Splitcoaststampers.  I used the Lattice Embossing folder on the Pretty in Pink. I punched out the Basic Gray piece with the Eyelet Border punch and that went down the left hand side.  I punched out a small oval from scrap card and sponged some Pretty in Pink at the bottom of the bird stand.  I liked how this turned out.  I stamped the cage on separate Whisper White piece and cut that out and mounted it with dimensionals.  I added some Adhesive Pearls to give it some class!!!  The greeting is from ‘Upsy Daisy’.  Now that’s a set I haven’t used for a while!

I will show you some of the other projects next time so pop back again soon.

Thanks for visiting,

Jenny xx

A SCALLOP SQUARE BOX AND CARDS!

I can now show you the other project we did at our Stamping day last week.  I know, I am a little behind at the moment!  Leonie showed us this cute little  box.  You can see them here on Leonie’s blog.  She got the instructions from Holly.

They are made with the Scallop Square Die.  They make up such a cute gift.  I am keen to make up some more and to make some with the scallop circle Die.

I have used the set “Just Believe” and used Chocolate Chip and Baja Breeze.

I have to get to bed now.  Why do I stay up so late???

I hope you visit again soon,

Jenny

STAMPIN’ UP! SUPPORTS QLD FLOOD APPEAL!!

I have finally managed to get back here.  It has been an unbelievable week.   I have sat with such shock and disbelief watching the events that have unfolded in QLD this week.  It is unbelievable!  Once again, Stampin’ Up! have stepped forward to help the QLD flood Appeal.  Between 15th January and 15th February, Stampin’ Up! will donate $2 from every stamp set sold over $30 retail value.  How awesome is that!

In addition, I will be donating all my commission and for every workshop held during that time, I will donate $10.  I feel that is only a small thing I can do, but hopefully it might help in some way.

So, if you don’t have a demonstrator you can email me your order and I can have it shipped anywhere in Australia.  If you live  local to me, why not hold a workshop??  They are always a fun time stamping with your family and friends.  Email me at jghayward@yahoo.com for further information.

My thoughts and prayers are with all those effected by floods in Queensland and now in other states as well.

A CUTE BOX- AND A CARD!!

Just stopping by quickly.  I wanted to show you some cute projects we did last week at our play day.  I got together with some of my best stamping buddies, Andrea, Leonie and Tracey.  We did some fun projects.  I have to say though, I didn’t get as much done as the others.  I had to leave early.  They went on into the early hours!

This is one of the first projects we did. Andrea showed us her cute box she received recently from Lynda.  We got to make one.  Thanks Lynda for the inspiration!

EDITED TO ADD:  Lynda and Andrea let me know that the little box is by Dawn Griffiths.  This is her blog.  Go and check out all her amazing creations.

Here is my creation:

For this I have used the flower from the Sale-A-Bration set “Bliss” directly on the cardstock.  I have used Marina Mist.  I have just discovered this colour.  It is such a lovely colour.  The scallop circle ‘For you’ is from another Sale-A-Bration set “Punch Bunch”.   I used the markers direct to rubber to colour the flowers and words and punched the circle with the 1 1/4″ punch.  This was layered on a circle punched from the 1 3/8″ circle in Marina Mist.  I then inked up the stamp in Regal Rose and punched it out using the Scallop Circle Punch.  These were all adhered together and layered in mounting tape.  I added an adhesive pearl in the centre of the flower.  This is such a cute little box.

I can show you a card I made that day too but I have to say I really struggled with this and I am still not that happy with it.  This one was a White is White Challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenges here.  We could add another colour but the project must be predominantly white.  In the end this is the end result.  Sometimes what you have in your head just doesn’t come out right!!

I used the Heat and Stick Powder and Dazzling Diamonds on the Baroque swirls to add some bling.  It is a bit hard to see here.  I added some adhesive pearls to the sentiment oval.   Go and check out the entries to this challenge.  There is some absolutely gorgeous designs there.  I didn’t even bother adding mine!!

I have another project we did that I will show you shortly.  That’s enough for one day.  Enjoy the rest of your day.

AN AVIARY 21ST!

The Summer Holidays are slipping by very quickly.  I’m just not sure where the Summer weather is yet though!  It will probably arrive after all the kids have gone back to school.  I have been busy stamping away and spent a lovely day with my stamping buddies yesterday.  I will show you those projects soon.  I wanted to show you a card I made a few weeks ago now for a lovely customer of mine whom I have got to know well (Hi Alison!).  It was her 21st and as she loves animals and music I wanted to create one that included these.

Stamps: Aviary, Calendar Alphabet and Numbers.

Card: Rich Razzleberry, Very Vanilla, Newsprint DSP.

Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive.

Other: Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, Mounting Tape, Self- Adhesive Pearls.

Here is the inside:

For the inside I have used the Hostess Level 1 set “Afterthoughts” and “Teeny Tiny Sentiments” and the cute birds from “Aviary”. I was really happy with the final result and I think Alison liked it too.

I am getting some time to create but trying to get access to the computer during the holidays is a bit of challenge.  So, when I can get back here, I will show you some more creations.  Pop by again soon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR – AND LOOK WHAT I HAVE BEEN DOING!!

Welcome to 2011!  I hope that this year doesn’t go by as quickly as 2010!  I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year with family and friends.  I have been playing around with some stamps and punches this past week.  I can show you one of the projects I have been working on.  I was playing around with my 2-step Owl punch to see the great things you can create.  I first saw this punch sheet idea at our team meeting recently by Ness, our fearless leader.  I have added some other ideas too I found on blogland.   Check this out!

I hope you can see it clearly enough.  I will show you a close-up of Mrs Chef Owl!

Isn’t she cute!!  This one also uses the butterfly punch and the scallop oval punch.   I’m very excited too as I have bought myself a new camera this week and it takes such great photos.  I just have to improve on the photography skills!

I have been playing around with some Sale-A-Bration stamps too.  Not long now for Sale-A-Bration.  I will show you those creations soon.

Enjoy the rest of your New Year weekend.  I will stop by again soon. xx

Personal Ramblings

WISHING YOU A HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!

To all my Blog Friends.  I wish you Peace, Joy and Happiness for this Christmas and into the New Year.  May all your dreams for 2011 come true.

Thank you for stopping by my blog.  I hope that I can inspire you in your creations.  I won’t be stopping by too much in the next couple of weeks as I am taking some time out with my family, but I’m looking forward to sharing more creations in the New Year.

Love and God Bless,

IT’S TIME FOR SOME CHRISTMAS CARDS!

I have been so busy showing you all my fun boxes and bags I have done for Christmas, I haven’t shown you many Christmas Cards yet.  I have to say I haven’t done as many cards as I should have done.  But here are a few quick ones.

A Gatefold Tree Trimmings Card. (Not the clearest photo, sorry!) Can you see the bling???

I really liked this one.  It is so effective with the brayered, embossed background.

A ‘Dasher’ Christmas.   This one and the one above we did at my Christmas Stamp-A-Stack.  This card was inspired by one by Andrea Walford.  The card above was inspired by a card by my lovely friend Leonie N. (Thanks Leonie!)

Some really quick cards with ‘Season Of Joy’ stamp set.  Not very clear but I added a Self-adhesive pearl to the centre of the word ‘Joy’.

Sorry, no time for details on the cards today.  I am in a hurry, but I thought I would stop by and show you these all together or it would be New Year before you saw them!  We are off now to look at the Christmas lights.  That is a tradition we do every year.  There are some spectacular displays that some people put up on their houses. I can even manage to drag out my teenage son to see them.  I don’t know how long that is going to last though!

 Catch you very soon. xx
