Wishing you all a Happy Easter. Enjoy this special time with family and friends and amongst all the chocolate Easter Eggs I pray that you might spend some time reflecting on the great sacrifice of Jesus for us.
MAKEESHA’S INSPIRATION CHALLENGE
I had a go at Makeesha’s Inspiration Challenge for this week. I have to say it was a hard one. I wasn’t sure how to tackle it. I knew I wanted to incorporate the circles from the soup mugs somehow. I was flicking through the 2007-2008 Stampin’ Up! catalogue the other night and came across a card on page 86 that I thought I would work with. It was a little bit fiddly, but it was fun to do.
Here is the photo we had to work with.

This is my end result.

To punch the circles I used the 1 3/8″ circle punch. I punched some out first on scrap paper and used the 2-way glue on certain celery cardstock. This is great repositional glue to use. If you add some to the card and let it go clear before you fix it to your piece you can then take it on and off until you are happy with the position. I then traced around these circles and punched out on the marks with the punch. I placed a piece of whisper white card under the certain celery card. I punched out some circles with the 1 1/4″ circle punch from scrap paper again and lined it up within the circles on the certain celery card. I marked these circles in pencil and then punched them out from the whisper white card with the 1 1/4″ circle punch. One of the circles I cut from a scrap of chocolate chip card. All these circles were quite fiddly to do. I don’t know if there is a simpler way of doing it, but it worked out ok. I used the ’embrace life’ set and stamped the blossom in chocolate chip onto pumpkin pie card. I inked the words one at a time in the chocolate chip marker and stamped them on pumpkin pie so one word ran under the other. I inked up some white taffeta ribbon with my pumpkin pie marker. I punched out a slit with the slit punch and tied the ribbon through. I had curled the edges of the celery card with my bone folder to give it a distressed edge. I adhered this piece to chocolate chip base and then pierced holes down each side. This is a bit hard to see in the photo. I think it is missing something though, what do you think?
I’ve just received my new Rubbah. Gotta like that. Even better is it is all FREE! How good is that. You can earn some great FREE stuff being a demonstator. If you want to find out how you can earn some FREE rubbah, just contact me. I’m off to play!!
FRESH CUTS!!
I had the other launch day yesterday for the new catalogue. We all had a great time I think. We were so busy though that I forgot to take a photo of them. (I’m sure they would be very disappointed to know that!) I can now show you what we did. We used the new Fresh Cuts set. There are so many ways you can use this set. Firstly, we made a triangle box. You can see how to make them here. Here is the one we did.

There were a few different colour combinations, but for this one I used Regal Rose and Certain Celery. These boxes are so quick to make and the good thing is there is no glueing. Before assembling I stamped off the leaf image over the card stock with Regal Rose. I punched holes in the top using the crop-a-dile and threaded through the Regal Rose ribbon. For the scallop tag I inked up the the leaf image again with Certain Celery and stamped it off first onto scrap paper to lighten it a little. I stamped it onto Whisper White. The ‘For You’ words run across, so I used the Regal Rose marker on the ‘for’ and stamped it over the leaf. Then used the marker again to ink the ‘you’. I then stamped that under the ‘for’. I punched this out using the 1 1/4″ circle punch and punched out a circle from regal rose with the 1 3/8″ circle punch. I adhered them together and then adhered this to a scallop circle punch from the Certain Celery. I mounted this onto the box with dimensionals. These would be great little boxes for Easter or for Mother’s Day very soon.
We then used the Fresh Cuts to make a card.

I got the inspiration for this card from Trina. She has done some very clever things with this set. Here are some other cards she has done using this set.
This is the mirror technique. Firstly, I stamped the leaf image up the side of Chocolate Chip cardstock base. I stamped the main image with Chocolate Chip onto Baja Breeze and also onto Pink Pirouette, 2 of the new in-colours. I love these 2 colours together. I cut one in half and adhered it to the other half. I then adhered this to Pumpkin Pie and then to the base card. I stamped the words onto Pink Pirouette with Chocolate Chip and adhered this to Pumpkin Pie. I stamped the flower and then cut it out and mounted it onto the card with dimensionals.
So the new Stampin’ Up! year has begun. If you would like a catalogue contact me and I can send it to you. The cost is $12.95 plus shipping and handling. You can receive one FREE for holding a workshop. If you live locally, invite a few friends together and I can show you a few projects and you all get to stamp. VICTORIAN BUSHFIRE APPEAL TOTAL!!!
Stampin’ Up! has just announced the total raised for the Victorian Red Cross Bushfire Appeal that has been running for the last 7 weeks. The total is…..
$77,889.63.
This is a fantastic result. It will greatly help restore the lives of the many victims, who have a long road ahead, following the Black Saturday fires throughout Victoria on February 7.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this great cause. Many demonstrators are donating their commission as well, which will greatly add to this total.
THE NEW CATALOGUE IS HERE!!!
The new catalogue is finally live!!. It is so great that we can now show these wonderful new SU goodies. I had the new catalogue launch yesterday and I think all the ladies had fun. We even had the cupcakes to celebrate the great new cupcake stamps. I can’t show you all the projects we did because I have had to reschedule my night launch until Saturday, so I don’t want to spoil all their fun. Here is a photo of the group in deep concentration! They were enjoying themselves – really!!

We used the new set ‘Fresh Cuts’ which is a beautiful set. I will show you a card that I made with the set. This just shows the great detail that SU stamps give.

This was a quick card I made the day before the launch. I used the sketch from Keesh’s sketch challenge a few weeks ago. You can see the sketch here. I have used the new In-Colour Pacific Point. I have to say I find this a hard colour to work with. I’m not sure of the colour combo. but I think it works OK with this sketch. I have stamped the leaf pattern on Old Olive with Old Olive ink and stamped the main image onto Whisper White with Rose Red. I sponged around the So Saffron strip and rounded the corners. I inked up the So Saffron ink with the leaf image again and stamped it off first onto scrap paper and stamped it onto Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the words with Rose Red and stamped it over the top. I punched it out with the 1 1/4″ circle punch and punched another circle with the 1 3/8″ punch from Rose Red card. After glueing the 2 circles together I mounted them with dimensionals.
I will show you the other projects we did after Saturday. If you live in the Wollongong area and would like to come along to my launch on Saturday there is still room. Email me for details.
1 MORE DAY TO GO!!!
It is so exciting! There is only 1 more day until the new Stampin’ Up! catalogue goes live. I can’t wait. There are so many new products coming. It is so good. I have been so busy organising my launch for Wednesday that I can’t show you my new creations yet. I’m sure everyone will have a great time. Why wouldn’t they – stamping and eating and playing silly games. I will let you know how it went and show you all the fun things we will do.
Until then – Happy Stamping!!!
MAKEESHA’S CHALLENGE WITH BLOOM AWAY!
I made another card with this set for Makeesha’s sketch challenge this week. You can see the sketch here. I had been thinking about this sketch for a few days and I wasn’t sure what to do. I had already watercoloured the image so I thought I would incorporate that somehow. I wasn’t sure about the colours either. I wanted to pick out the colours in the image but I didn’t want it to look like a Christmas Card. (Although I think this set will be really good at Christmas time). While I was tossing around a few combinations and not quite happy with what I had, it was then that I saw it…… Sitting on the table next to me was the new Stampin’ Up! Catalogue. This colour combo. was on the front cover. The catalogue was an inspiration without even opening a page!
On to the card: I used Ruby Red for the card base and stamped the leaves from Embrace Life with Versamark. I sponged around the edge of a piece of Old Olive cardstock. I scalloped the edge of Chocolate Chip strip with the Border scallop punch and adhered it to the Olive piece. I stamped the Eucalyptus Gum on watercolour paper in Going Grey. I watercoloured it using the inkpads and aquapainter. I then cut around the image and mounted it on a circle with dimensionals. The circle was cut using the Round Tab punch. I punched out 2 pieces and offset them. I mounted this on the card with dimensionals also. I stamped the greeting from Short and Sweet in Choc. Chip and punched it out with the word window punch. I also cut one from Choc. Chip and adhered them together and trimmed off the end. I mounted it against the side with dimensionals. You’ve got to love that stuff! The card is straight IRL, believe me.
I have actually finished one of Keesh’s sketch on time!
BLOOM AWAY!!
I have been inking up my new stamps. As a demonstrator we can preorder some selected stamps sets from the new 2009-10 Catalogue. When I saw these I had to get it. I loooove Australian Native Plants. The first card I created was very simple. The detail in these stamps are so fine you don’t need to do anything with them. I stamped the Waratah in Chocolate Chip and stamped it twice on the Close to Cocoa card base. I then stamped it on Bordering Blue and then also stamped on the word. The words come with the flowers but I separated them to give me more flexibility. I tore the top and sides and then distressed it with my fingers. After distressing it for a little bit I could then separate the two layers and curl the corner. I did the same on a larger square of Kiwi Kiss, one of the new In Colours. I adhered the 2 colours together and punched a hole in the bottom left corner. I tied a small piece of twine through the hole and frayed the edges. Then it was a matter of sticking the piece to the base card. The longest part of this card was distressing the card. I really liked the end result, if I can say that!

More “Summer By the Sea”
When I was stamping the other images from a previous post I stamped this one as well. One lesson learnt: It is very important to stamp the image in Stazon if you intend to watercolour to prevent the ink from running. Hence, the purple mark in the water. Buy hey, I think it looks like reflection from her pants!!!
I used inkpads and aquapainters to watercolour the image in Elegant Eggplant, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive. I used an Old Olive marker to ink up just the word ‘happiness’ on the text stamp in this set. I matted this on Old Olive. I used a strip of Bali Breeze DSP and matted that on Old Olive as well. The base is Elegant Eggplant. It may not show up too well, but I paper pierced around the image. I have enjoyed watercolouring these images from this set and I will be sad to see it go at the end of the month.
While I had the paper scraps out I whipped up another card for my niece’s birthday next month. Early for a change!! I cut a strip of the Pumpkin Pie DSP and mounted it on Ruby Red card. I sponged around the edge with Ruby Red and stamped the text from ‘Sincere Salutations’. I mounted this on Tempting Turquoise base. This is not a colour I have used very much but it goes well with the paper. I cut out the flower images on the reverse of this ‘Bali Breeze’ sheet and adhered them to the bottom of the card. The flower brad is not SU and I can’t quite remember what brand it is – Sorry. This card didn’t take long at all.
I just received my new stamps that demonstrators can preorder from the new catalogue. It is very exciting. I have been getting them inky so I will show them to you next time.
