AN AVIARY CHALLENGE!

This past week I have been doing some challenges and projects at INKSPIRATIONS4U.  There are some great projects.  There is still time to join in if you would like to, just pop on over to Madeline’s blog and find out all about it there.

This is a card I made for the first colour challenge.  The colours to use were Pretty in Pink, Basic Gray and Rich Razzleberry.  I have to say I really struggled putting the Gray with the Razzleberry.  I felt they were too dark together so it took me a while to work on it.

I wanted to use the ‘Aviary’ set which I am really having a lot of fun with.  The card was inspired from a couple of different cards from Splitcoaststampers.  I used the Lattice Embossing folder on the Pretty in Pink. I punched out the Basic Gray piece with the Eyelet Border punch and that went down the left hand side.  I punched out a small oval from scrap card and sponged some Pretty in Pink at the bottom of the bird stand.  I liked how this turned out.  I stamped the cage on separate Whisper White piece and cut that out and mounted it with dimensionals.  I added some Adhesive Pearls to give it some class!!!  The greeting is from ‘Upsy Daisy’.  Now that’s a set I haven’t used for a while!

I will show you some of the other projects next time so pop back again soon.

Thanks for visiting,

AN AVIARY 21ST!

The Summer Holidays are slipping by very quickly.  I’m just not sure where the Summer weather is yet though!  It will probably arrive after all the kids have gone back to school.  I have been busy stamping away and spent a lovely day with my stamping buddies yesterday.  I will show you those projects soon.  I wanted to show you a card I made a few weeks ago now for a lovely customer of mine whom I have got to know well (Hi Alison!).  It was her 21st and as she loves animals and music I wanted to create one that included these.

Stamps: Aviary, Calendar Alphabet and Numbers.

Card: Rich Razzleberry, Very Vanilla, Newsprint DSP.

Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive.

Other: Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, Mounting Tape, Self- Adhesive Pearls.

Here is the inside:

For the inside I have used the Hostess Level 1 set “Afterthoughts” and “Teeny Tiny Sentiments” and the cute birds from “Aviary”. I was really happy with the final result and I think Alison liked it too.

I am getting some time to create but trying to get access to the computer during the holidays is a bit of challenge.  So, when I can get back here, I will show you some more creations.  Pop by again soon.

SUMMER LAUNCH!

While I am in the Summer Mini Mode I thought I would show you the projects we did at my Mini Catalogue launch on Saturday.  It was a small group but we had a lot of fun – I think???  After a quick Scavenger Hunt through the Mini and checking out all the great new products, we did 2 projects. This was the first one.

This card was using the technique called Inlaid Embossing.  The stars were punched out from Whisper White Card and then adhered to the Real Red cardstock before running it through the Big Shot using the new Square Lattice Textured Impressions Folder.  It creates such a cool effect.  You can use any punched shape.  Just make sure that all the shapes are adhered down well.  I have use the ‘Extreme Guitar’ stamp and the crown is from the ‘Extreme Elements’ set.  The greeting is from ‘Short and Sweet’.  I punched this out with the small oval punch and then a black oval with the large oval punch.   I think this makes a cool guy card.   Do you think?????

The second card we did I kept a lot simpler.  It was using the fun ‘Aviary’ set.

The bird stand was stamped on Very Vanilla in Chocolate Chip ink.   The cage was stamped on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla.  I stamped the bird in Baja Breeze ink.  The cage was then cut out and mounted with Dimensionals.  The greeting is from the set ‘Teeny Tiny Sentiments’, which can you believe is 50% off at the moment with the December Frenzy!  I scalloped the edge of the Chocolate Chip mat and adhered it all onto Crumb Cake card base.  I tied a little knot from the Victoria Lace and added that with a glue dot.

I have so many Christmas projects that I have been working on so I will show you those in the next few posts.  Otherwise, it will be New Year before I finish!!

Until next time, Happy Stamping!

IT’S DECEMBER FRENZY!!

It’s December and it’s Summer! Why doesn’t it feel like that outside. The rain has been coming down for days. (Not that there is anything wrong with that. We do need the rain!).  A little sunshine now would be good though!  Stampin’ Up! can bring you some sunshine.  The Summer Mini Catalogue is available from today.  You can view it by clicking on the link in the right hand side bar.  There are some fun new products in there.  I have been playing around with some new goodies.  One of the new stamp sets I have been playing with is ‘Aviary’.  I wasn’t sure about this one at first but it is really growing on me.  Here is a quick card I CASED from the catalogue.

The photo is a little dark because of the lighting.  Sorry!

I did change the card slightly.  Don’t you love the look on that little owl.  He looks really perplexed!!  The sentiment is from ‘Tiny Tags’.

Today also is the start of the December Frenzy Sale.  Some catalogue items are reduced by up to 50% off.  How cool is that!  Just in time for that last minute Christmas shopping.  Don’t forget to buy yourself a Christmas present 😉  You can view the details here.  Just as an example though:

Heard form the Heart   p104     (W) 119167       $23.37

Teeny Tiny Sentiments p105  (W) 119185          $31.48

Go and check out the rest of the deals.  If you don’t have a local Demonstrator, you can place an order through me and I can send it to you anywhere in Australia.      If you would like a copy of the new Summer Mini then email me jghayward@yahoo.com and I will get one to you.

I’m off to play with some more goodies.  Happy Browsing the catalogue!
