12 WEEKS OF CHRISTMAS – WEEK 7!

Latte 12 weeks Header

It is my week this week to bring you the 12 Weeks of Christmas project.  I am excited to share this project with you.  Today I have made some Christmas Ornaments that you can make to hang on your Christmas Tree this year, or to give as a gift to someone special.

P1140933                P1140754

These were really hard to take photos of and I apologise for the reflection.  I would have spent an hour and a half taking photos inside and out trying to get the best ones.  These turned out the best and I liked them being outside hanging off our bushes as I hadn’t got our Christmas tree up yet – and didn’t want to do that just yet!!! 🙂

I have been looking out for these clear Ornaments for  the past few years but never able to find them but I came across these a few weeks ago. (Thanks Lynda for the tip!)  For locals these were from RIOT Arts and Crafts.  For other people you might be able to get them from your local craft store.

I discovered how to create these from a little blog surfing getting ideas from a few different blogs so today I thought I would show you.

CREATING YOUR CLEAR CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS

1. On a piece of Acetate draw a circle in NON-PERMANENT MARKER. (This is really important so you can wipe this off afterwards).  Add a little square tab piece at the top.  The size of your circle will depend on the size of your ornamment.  These ornaments were about 7cm (just a little less than 3 inches).  The circle I drew was about 6cm (just over 2 inches).  To draw your circle you can trace around a circular object or a circle die.  I used the base of a container.

P1140730

2. Once you have drawn your circle you can cut it out and then wipe off the marked circle with a tissue.

3. Stamp your image in Staz On on the acetate circle.  This image is from ‘Get your Santa On’.   Now you can’t colour this on this surface with the Blendabilities as it reacts with the Staz On.  Turn over your circle and colour your image from the back with your Blendabilities.  You might be able to see too on my image I added some dots of Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details on the wreath circle and hanging wreath on the chimney to add some sparkle.  This was added on the front of the circle.

P1140696

For the snowflake Ornament I stamped the image in White Staz On.  This snowflake is from the stamp set ‘December Wonder’ from the Holiday Supplement.  (It is marked as a Project Life set but don’t just dismiss these if you don’t do Project Life.  There can still be some great images in these sets).

4. To insert the acetate piece in to your Ornament you need to roll up the piece in to a tight roll and squeeze it in through the top.  Be sure to have the tab piece at the top and hold that as it gets further in to the ornament.  This piece will sit in the top of the ornament to keep the piece in place.  As the circle unrolls you many need to give it a little spin around or you may have to get a pen or the Paper piercer down to jiggle it around in place.

P1140735

You can add some little embellishments in the Ornament as well.  For the Santa one I punched some stars with the Confetti Stars punch from Real Red and Gold cardstock.  For the Snowflake one I added some sequins (snowflakes and silver sequins) from the Frosted Sequins Embellishment pack in the Holiday Catalogue (p 22).  I also added some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter and shook that around in the ornament.  This stuck to the sides of the Ornaments giving it a “snowy” effect I guess.  Then you can replace the cap and tie some ribbon around the top and a ribbon loop for them to hang off your tree.

Now if you are giving this as a gift to someone it would be nice to dress it up a little, so I have a Gift Box for you.  This is using the Kraft Gift Boxes in the Annual Catalogue (p 200).  These Ornaments fit just nicely in them.  You would need to check the size of the Ornaments you are using though.

P1140809

I decorated the sides and top with Designer Series Paper. This is from the Nordic Noel DSP pack from the Holiday Catalogue.

P1140815

Finish this off with some Red Satin Ribbon and a tag.  This makes a nice gift to give someone.

P1140823

Here is a close-up of the tag.  I used ‘December Wonder’ stamp set again.  The JOY is punched with the oval punch on Real Red.  I cut a label in Garden Green cardstock from the Chalk Talk Dies and then ran that through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. Then I layered these together. I finished it off with a Frosted Sequin snowflake and a Rhinestone.

P1140821

I hope you like these and can get hold of some ornaments to create your own.  Now as with our other projects I have put together a Bundle for you. (Not available to order as a Bundle through my Online Store).

WELCOME TO YOUR NEW HOME!!!

I needed to make a card for a lovely friend of mine who recently moved in to a new place of her own.  After many years of personal issues it was really lovely to see her now finding her own way. The dilemma was what can  I use to make a card for her?? I usually do punch art for these occasions and I just went looking through my blog posts and realised I hadn’t shared any of them before. I don’t know how I missed that!! I decided to dust off a stamp I have had since before I joined Stampin’ Up! over 6 years ago. Previously I have coloured this with pencils or just inked in one colour.  Today I dragged out the Blendabilities for it!

So it’s not Stampin’ Up! and I can’t tell you the name of this stamp sorry.  It didn’t have the name or company on the block.  The rest of the card is all Stampin’ Up! though.  I thought I would show you the card still.

P1140699

The base card is Marina Mist.  A second piece of Marina Mist was cut just slightly smaller than the front of the base card.  I cut a circle in that piece with a Circle Framelit and then this piece was embossed with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  On Whisper White card I stamped the image in Memento Ink and coloured this with various Blendabilities.  I adhered that piece under the embossed Marina Mist card and adhered it onto the card base.  The greeting is from Petite Pairs stamp set.  I coloured the “welcome” on the ‘Welcome Baby’ stamp with a Night of Navy Marker and stamped it on a strip of Whisper White.  I flagged the end of the piece and adhered that to the card with Dimensionals.  I added a Silver Metal Button and  Whisper White Twine bow.  I prefer using glue dots to adhere these. When it was done  I thought it was a little plain so added some Old Olive leaves punched with the 2 step Bird Punch.

Thanks for stopping by and indulging me today.  I hope life is good in your part of the world. 🙂

12 WEEKS OF CHRISTMAS – WEEK 5!!

Latte 12 weeks Header

The weeks are flying by! We are up to Week 5 of our 12 Weeks of Christmas now.  This week’s project is brought to you by Virginia.  Today we a have a project to show you how you can use My Digital Studio (MDS) to create your own projects. This is great when a stamp set you are after or one that has retired it may be available in MDS. You can print these out  and colour them using your Blendabilities.

PartSnipOfLO1a

Virginia has created a Hybrid Scrapbook page.  She has used the Poinsettia and Leaf from the ‘Joyful Christmas’ digital stamp Brush set (#135269).  You can print these out using your Microsoft Word programme but you need to print them out using an inkjet printer on Whisper White A4 card stock.  Virginia worked out how many she wanted to colour in and printed a number of them at a time.

     JoyChristmasBrushStampSetDigital                                         49325592b

Colouring is so easy using the Blendabilities  to colour in the Poinsettia  in two sizes and the leaf in 3 sizes. These were coloured using the Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate Blendabilities alcohol markers. The lightest of the Smoky Slate being used to help give more shading and depth to the colouring.

BlendiesColouringSnips1a

Next after colouring them in, Virginia cut them out with a small pair of paper snips.  Or you may use an electronic die cutting machine if you have one and you are comfortable using it’s print and cut functions.  After she cut them out, she gave the backs of the coloured and cut out image a bit of ‘burnishing’ with the stylus using the scoreboard and bone folder. Doing this makes them more 3d looking.  Just a tip: put the Stampin’ Piercing mat underneath as cushioning.

To Create the page:

Wirg _ scrap photo

Virginia took three rolls of washi tape (Watercolour Wonder set, main catalogue) and put a strip of each along two edges of the 12×12 so they crossed over in the bottom left hand corner.  These three different rolls of Washi tapes are perfect for any occasion but really shine on a Christmas layout. She layered the black and white photo onto Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Using the ‘Gorgeous Grunge’ stamp set you can stamp the paint splatter with Cherry Cobbler ink to create a background. The coloured in images were then placed around the sheet of 12×12 Whisper White card stock and were adhered using Dimensionals and snail adhesive.

The year 1994 is from the cork stickers from the Project Life Seasonal Snapshot Accessory pack. Using the finest of the Project Life journaling pens, Virginia did a little journaling between the lines of the washi tape.

If you would like a full copy of how Virginia created this layout including how to print out from either MDS or Microsoft Word then send me a message or comment and I will send it out to you.

Now for this week’s special, how about this:

For $70.00, purchase the Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight sets of Blendabilities, the Color Lifter and get the Watercolour Wonder Washi tape pack FREE!

That’s $70 plus postage with Free washi tape (valued at $8.95)  Contact me to place your order!

A TRIO OF SANTA’S!

Have you seen this cute set in the Holiday Catalogue “Get Your Santa On”.  I love  colouring the images.  I have a few things in mind with this set but first I just played around with some simple cards.  Check them out!

P1140434

Aren’t they cute!

They are similar layouts.  The one on the right is one we did at my Stamp-A-Stacks on the weekend. I used the ‘On Point’ Embossing Folder and the Nordic Noel DSP.  I also used the Starburst Framelits or the Circle Framelits.  The red ribbon is the Real Red Satin Woven Ribbon.  I love that ribbon.  It is so easy to use and tie.

To colour him I used the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities pack.  The lightest colour is a good match to Real Red.  How good is that!!  I used the Nude colour in the Skin Tone pack for his cheeks and the darkest colour in the Smoky Slate pack. You can’t see it in this photo but I used some Dazzling Diamonds applied with the 2 way Glue pen.

Here they are close-up.

BLENDABILITIES + WHITE EMBOSSING = COOL EFFECT!!!!

I am loving using the new Blendabilities.  Have you had much of a play yet?? When they first came out I discovered this cool technique but I only got a chance to try it out a couple of weeks ago. Finally I can show you the cards PLUS I have a tutorial so you can try this out yourself.

For this card I used the Hostess Set “Hello There”.  I love how you can get the different coloured effect.  Isn’t it cool???  Once I coloured it (which you can read about in the tutorial below), I added it to my card.  For the card I wrapped some White Baker’s Twine around a piece of Sweet Taffy DSP and adhered this to a card base of Melon Mambo. I added the little flowers punched from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack.  It is hard to see it clearly but I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the centre to add some sparkle.

P1140207

So how do you create the effect?  I will show you.

COLOURING WHITE EMBOSSING WITH BLENDABILITIES

To show you how to create the technique I am making some little tags using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.

1. White emboss your image. If you are not familiar with that then I will just explain this.  Swipe your cardstock with the Embossing Buddy (this reduces the static on your project in which stray specks of embossing powder will cling to).  Stamp your image in Versamark and then pour over your White embossing powder.  Tip off the excess then heat the image with your Heat Tool to melt the Embossing Powder.  (I love watching the embossing powder melt.  It is so magic.  I don’t think you ever get sick of watching it.)

Take just a minute to let this dry before you start colouring.

2.  Select your Blendabilites.  I used Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight.  Colour over your image as you like.  I found using the fine tip more effective especially on the finer parts of the image.

P1140279

P1140281

3. Once you have finished colouring you can complete your project.

P1140277

I made lots of these at the time to give out.

P1140282

Now you can go and try this technique yourself and watch the magic happen.  ENJOY!!

Until next time 🙂

BORDERING BLOOMS!

A couple of weeks ago I had a chance to play with the ‘Bordering Blooms’ set.  This was my first time playing with Photopolymer stamps too.  I have to say I loved them.  Love how they stick to the block and stay!!! They are very easy to use too being able to see clearly through the block.  So here are the cards I made then.

This first one was CASED from Pinterest by Shelly Godby.  Her version was a lot more gorgeous and she stamped the inside too but I was happy with this.  I used Crisp Canteloupe and Baked Brown Sugar.  The scallop edge under the border was using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch.  The greeting is from ‘Wetlands’.

P1140198

Another quick card.  This one was CASED from Sharon Burkert on Pinterest.  Her card had a White Card base.  I decided to make mine on a coloured card base so I used Hello Honey.  I think this will look good on any colour base.  I will try that sometime soon.  The little flowers were punched from the ‘Itty Bitty Accents Pack’.  The greeting was from ‘Blooming with Kindness’.  I coloured Adhesive Pearls with the Calypso Coral Blendabilities set.

P1140193

I liked this simple layout so I thought I would make it into a Christmas Card.  My first for the season. It’s a bit hard to get your head around Christmas yet but since the Holiday Catalogue is out very soon I have to make a start.

P1140191

I used Cherry Cobbler and stamped the “vine” type image in Mossy Meadow.  The pearls were coloured with the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities.

One more – sorry.  This next one I made for a workshop last week.  After stamping the blooms I coloured them with the Blendabilities.  The greeting is from the hostess set ‘Hello There’.  I added a little of the Gold sequins, Gold Twine and some paper piercing.  I haven’t used this colour combination for some time using Rich Razzleberry and Wisteria Wonder.

P1140195

Hope you liked them.  I think these will be a great addition to your stamp collection suitable for many occasions.  Check it out below.  You can buy this or any other Stampin’ Up! products in my Online store.  Check the link in the right hand side bar.

Thanks for stopping by today. The rain is still pouring down here but it is good to have it.  The grass was looking a little brown. Hope all is well in your part of the world.  🙂

COLOURFUL ‘LOVELY LACE’!

I have been playing around with the ‘Lovely Lace’ Embossing Folder this week.  As soon as I saw this in the Catalogue I knew I had to get it.  I love all the detail in it.

Here is the first one.  Since I had been playing around with the Blendabilities as well I thought I would do some colouring in.

P1140188

For this card I embossed on Whisper White cardstock.  I then just simply coloured to highlight the impression. The Blendabilities work better colouring on the card than the Stampin’ Write Markers as you don’t need to press hard to colour so you don’t effect the impression, and the colour blends nicely.   I found using the fine tip on the Blendabilities worked better for the finer lines. So easy – and so therapeutic just sitting and colouring. 🙂

I just finished it off by wrapping around some Pistachio Pudding Thick Baker’s Twine.  This was adhered to a mat in Pistachio Pudding and a card base in Lost Lagoon.  I added a greeting from ‘Label Love’.  The banners were cut from the ‘Bitty Banners’ Framelits.  One from Daffodil Delight and one from the Silver Glimmer paper. They were then cut in half and adhered behind the label. Some Rhinestone bling was added for more sparkle.

Another card I made was very simple.

P1140196

Simply emboss on white cardstock.  Tie around some Island Indigo Cotton ribbon ( I love how soft and easy to tie this ribbon is!).  This was adhered to an Island Indigo mat and then Whisper White card base.  I punched out a scallop circle in Silver Glimmer Paper.  The “For You” is from the ‘Hello There’ Hostess set.  I will be making a few of these cards to send out to some special people this week.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend. 🙂
