PLAYFUL PETS Z FOLD 50TH CARD!

I created this card for my sister’s 50th Birthday this weekend.  It would be an understatement to say she loves cats!! I knew this paper would be fitting for her.

This is a Z Fold card.  I will tell you about how you can make the card further below.  Let’s look at it though.

I have used the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper.  I didn’t have the Pampered Sets stamp set but that’s ok.  The sentiment is from the Seaside Notions stamp set.  The heart is from the Whale Done stamp set.  I cut the cats for the front of the card from a piece of the Designer Series Paper and raised them up off the card with Dimensionals.

This view below shows the card almost folded.

I have made these Z Fold cards before.  They are fun to make.

You can find the original post for these type of cards which has the instructions -> HERE.

On that link you will find the metric measurements.  There is a link there to go to the Imperial measurements.

I made a smaller version of the Z Fold cards too way back then.  You can see that post -> HERE if you want a narrower version.

You can find all the cute Playful Pets Suite products including the paper in my store now -> HERE.  Check it out.

In Australia? I would love you to shop there with me.

I have had lots of fun with the Whale Done stamp set lately.  It’s just so cute!

One of the cards I have made is a fun fold. I’m not really sure what the fold is called.  I have a few names – Perhaps a reverse Gatefold? A ‘W’ fold.  What would you call it?  Let me know in the comments.

WHALE DONE – BIG DEAL!

I have been playing with the Whale Done Bundle this past week getting ready for my Whale Done class.  This Whale Done is such a cute set.

While I can’t share you the cards we are doing for class.  You have to join in to see those ones I have a couple of other cards I am going to share with you.

Today’s card is very simple in design.  It uses the beautiful Whale of A Time Paper.  I wasn’t sure what to do with this particular print.  It is such a large design.  But really what more do you need.  I trimmed the piece down carefully to fit the card front so as not to lose much of the print.  It was then adhered to a Pretty Peacock Card base.

The sentiment was stamped in Memento Black and diecut with the Stitched Shapes Dies.

If you notice the turtle it has 2 colours on it.  To get this effect, I stamped the turtle first in Granny Apple Green and then sponged lightly around the edge of the turtle with Pretty Peacock ink.  It gives a cool effect. Then fussy cut with scissors.  Sorry no dies for this one. 🙂

The Whale Done Class is available Online or Face-to-Face.

Head back one or 2 posts to get all the details.

Have a great weekend.  Hope you get some creating in.

A PAPER HUG WITH COMFORT AND HOPE!

This was another card created with the Comfort and Hope stamp set.

A paper hug with Comfort and Hope stamp set

To be honest I wasn’t sure where I was going with this card. Even though it is a simple card it took a long time. The sentiment alone took way longer than it should have!! After several variations I settled for this in the end. Still not sure whether I am loving it, but hey …I thought I would share it with you anyway.

I love the “Paper Hug” saying though.  That was stamped on Petal Pink and diecut with one of the Ornate Frames Dies.

Have you noticed the Comfort and Hope stamp set? It’s a great one for those caring cards.  And great for sending Paper Hugs. 🙂

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #103 – WHICH WAY TO FOLD YOUR CARDS??

Wednesday’s WOW! #103.  I get asked this question so many times so I thought maybe it’s a question you have.  Which way do you fold your cards?? Inwards or Outwards after scoring???  I thought I would talk about this today for our Wednesday’s WOW!

I have my opinions but I did a little search on the internet to see what others might say. I have to say there were different opinions.

So which way do you fold your cards?  Do you fold them inwards.  By that I mean when you have scored the card and it is flat on the table. You have an indentation on the card where you have scored it. Do you take both sides and fold the sides in towards each other.  Or do you fold the sides away from each other and fold it outwards?

Personally I fold the card outwards, so the scored indentation is on the outside.

Firstly, before I tell you why I fold it that way.  Most crafters that I looked at online folded it this way.  Perhaps I missed some if you find it the other way.

I fold it this way as when you score the card you are breaking the tissue of the card.  This will enable some “give” to the card to be able to fold it.  On another note, scoring the card will give you a crisper fold.

If you fold it inwards you then end up with the underside of the card as your front.  I don’t know about you but I find that the cut edge has a little raised edge and I don’t like the look of that.

Maybe you have other reasons why you fold your card the way you do.  I would love to hear it.  Drop me a comment.

Now since we are on the topic of scoring your card.  The other question I get asked a lot is What do you cut your card with?? I use the Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer.  It has a cutting blade and a scoring blade making the job of preparing your card very quick and easy.  Everything is contained in one and you don’t have to muck around with different tools.

You can see the Paper Trimmer -> HERE.

Hope that helps you.

Have a great day,

Jenny
