WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #52 – LOVELY LATTICE 3 WAYS!

Wednesday’s WOW! #52.  Today I thought we would take a look at this gorgeous stamp, the Lovely Lattice.  This is a Sale-A-Bration choice.  It’s such a beautiful image and so nice to colour but also as I show, you can leave it white.  I know I am not great at colouring in so I like that idea.

Isn’t this pretty?  I have a video below so you can have a closer look.  And had you noticed the little scallop type line image.  I had completely missed this stamp and it would really add extra detail to your cards.  Don’t forget the little single flower image too.  See the video below.

Let’s have a closer look at the cards.

This one above is so pretty coloured with the Stampin’ Blends.  You don’t need too much more with it.  The sentiment is from Healing Hugs from the Annual Catalogue. And,look at the white card – Stitched Rectangle Dies. 🙂

You know what I like about this card above?  I like that it isn’t coloured and looks so striking in white against the green.  On this one the flowers are fussy cut.  The diecut background and sentiment shape are from the Rose Trellis Thinlits Dies in the Occasions Catalogue.

This card above is so pretty coloured in Grapefruit Grove. See, the Scallop line stamp makes a nice background.  The sentiment is from the Well Written Framelits Dies and the Well Said stamp set.

The Lovely Lattice is a free choice for Sale-A-Bration with orders over $90.  This set could be yours. 🙂

Shop in my store now -> HERE.  It’s shipped directly to you anywhere in Australia. Once you have done your order select your Sale-A-Bration set.  These orders will also receive a Tutorial Bundle for 10 different projects FREE!

Please use the Host Code: FYQHM4CK

Thank you for your order.  Please be sure not to mark it anonymous as I can’t send your Thank You card to you.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #50 – CREATING A PYRAMID CARD (AND MAYBE A GIVEAWAY!)

Here we are Wednesday’s WOW! #50.  I really didn’t even consider I would get to that number when I first started just this year.  How fun it has been sharing fun projects and videos with you.  Have you enjoyed them??  Today for #50 I have a special project that I have been sitting on for a few weeks waiting to share with you – and Today is the day! And since it is such a big milestone I thought I would have a little giveaway on my blog.  It’s been a while since I have done that so be sure to read all the details below.

So today’s project is … A Pyramid Card.  Have you made one of these before.  I thought it would be fun to make one and share it with you.

This is the front view.

This is the back view.

I have put together a video for you and have some photos too below.

Apologies in advance for the video quality.  I am working on that. 😉

CREATE YOUR OWN PYRAMID CARD

The Pyramid card can be made to any size.  The principles to make them are the same.  Work out the approximate height you would like and the size of the card squares will be approximately three-quarters of that height.

Tutorial and measurements for the Pyramid card above.

Cut 3 squares of card to 10.5 cm (Just over 4”).

Cut 2 squares of Designer Series Paper (DSP) slightly smaller than is 4mm or 1/8”.  Squares for this one would be 10.1cm or 4”).

1) Score each card piece diagonally once.  Fold on the scored line.

2) Cut both squares of DSP in half diagonally.  Flip one triangle over to use the opposite pattern.  You may choose to use a completely different piece of DSP for a different pattern choice.  You may choose to have each piece the same. Adhere the DSP triangles onto one panel of each card

3) (NB: In these photos I didn’t adhere the Designer Series Paper before assembling). Position one of the squares behind another square underneath the other square.  Before applying adhesive, check the position so you only apply adhesive to where it is needed.  Repeat this for each card piece.

Be careful where you place the adhesive as you won’t want to place it all over your card.

4) You can choose to adhere the third square to the first square to assemble it permanently or you can add a Velcro dot to the edge piece, or add ribbon to tie it together so it can come apart to lay flat for posting.

– Decorate your Pyramid card as you like.

BLOG GIVEAWAY

OK, now for the prize.  Since it’s the 50th Wednesday’s WOW! I have a Blog Giveaway of … some BLING! We all love bling and let’s face it we can use it to cover up a multitude of mistakes.  Who does that?? 🙂

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

I will pick a winner at random.   To enter please leave a comment on where you are from and what you love seeing when you come to visit my blog.  I will close the entries on Friday midday. AEST  The bling giveaway is only for Australian residents only sorry.  BUT if you are an international visitor please leave a comment and I will send a handmade card off to you.  I am allowed to do that. 🙂

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #49 – INTO THE WOODS WITH THE WINTER WOODS BUNDLE!

Today for episode #49 on Wednesday’s WOW! I have a really cool bundle to show you. The Winter Woods Bundle.  Have you noticed it? You can find it on page 27 of the Holiday Catalogue.

Why am I showing you this today?  Well a few of reasons.

  • It’s a very versatile set that you could use for other occasions,  Think of those difficult Masculine cards.  You can also use it for a number of different techniques too.  So while it might be late for the Christmas cards it is great that you can use it for other times throughout the year.
  • You can layer up the tree dies to make some cool effect trees.  Add a few of those trees on the card and you wouldn’t need much more on it.
  • You can use it with other current stamp sets from the Annual Catalogue.  Just another great “co-ordination” on Stampin’ Up!’s part.
  • OK, I will be honest I haven’t got it yet but I really think I must add it because if I get it now then I can save 10% by getting the bundle.  Although the stamps and dies will carryover they won’t be at bundle price.

Check the Winter Woods Bundle in the short video below.

As you saw in the video, the Winter Woods stamp set is a great stamp set with the different trees and the tree trunks.  That sentiment is so lovely.  Don’t think of that sentiment just for Christmas.  Mask off some of the words and make it a lovely “Thinking of You” card.  There are a few different tree dies too in the In The Woods Framelits and they layer together so well don’t you think.

This is available in Wood Mount and Clear Mount.  Clear is $87.25 AUS.  Wood mount is available there too. You can grab it in my store now -> HERE and save 10%.  Don’t forget to use the Host Code: BZ6KB7SU

Do you want some inspiration?  Head to my Winter Woods Pinterest board -> HERE.

Thanks for visiting me today.

See you again soon,

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #48 – WAYS WITH THE TIN TILE EMBOSSING FOLDER!

I have been using the Tin Tile Embossing Folder a lot lately.  This Embossing Folder is so popular every time I use it in class too.  Everyone loves it.  You don’t have to just run it through the Big Shot with  a piece of card in the folder, Why not try some other cool ways to use it.

I found this video from Stampin’ Up! with a great tip for getting the best impression on your card but also some other fun ways to take your embossed card that extra step. So today for Wednesday’s WOW! #48 we are looking at ways you can use the Tin Tile Embossing Folder.  I have a card below that I had actually used this idea on it before I even saw this video so be sure to look below.

I have to say I have yet to try embossing the Foil Sheets but don’t they look just gorgeous.  (adding to my list to do …)  And they looked so spectacular lightly sanding them and inking over them in parts as it showed in the video.

I like the card inked too after it has been embossed with the folder, but sponging over it with the Shimmer Paint does take the card to the next level.  I shared that video a few weeks ago of how to do that.   You can see that video -> HERE.

I will share the shimmered card piece again for you here below.

Using the idea of adding the Shimmer Paint to your embossed card we used that on one of our cards for the Shimmer Class last week.  Everyone just loved this too and we dragged out the good and faithful set Lovely As A Tree.  It’s been a while since we have used this set but it never gets dated.  It lends itself to so many occasions and techniques. NOTE: If you don’t have this set yet do yourself a favour and grab it.  You can order it in my store now -> HERE.

Here is the card we made.  Using the Copper Shimmer Paint we lightly daubered over the embossed card in places to add some shine.  Just a note too.  For the tree we daubered over some Copper Shimmer directly on the stamp.  We also did that with the Sentiment which is from the Host Set Hung With Care.

So now you have some important items you need to be sure to get:

Tin Tile Embossing Folder, Shimmer Paint, Lovely As A Tree.  Head to me store now to grab them. (link above)

Have fun with it.  Thanks for visiting me.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #47 – MAKING UP A SHIMMER PAINT SPRAY!

This weekend is my Shimmer Paint Technique class.  I have been having lots of fun sponging and spraying this stuff around.  For our Wednesday’s WOW! #47 I thought I would share with you how to make the Shimmer Spray up.  Also, I will show you one of the cards we will make in class using this spray.

MAKE YOUR SHIMMER PAINT SPRAY

Add a small amount of the Shimmer Paint in a Stampin’ Spritzer bottle.  I added about 1cm, or approximately 1/2″.  The more paint the more intense the spray will be. Then top up the bottle with Rubbing Alcohol.  The Rubbing Alcohol can be picked up at most Chemists (or Drug Stores).  You can add water instead of alcohol but it doesn’t dry as quickly.  Give it a good shake to mix them together.  Before you use this each time if it has sat for a while then be sure to shake it.  That’s all there is to it.

TIP: When you are spraying your card check which direction the nozzle is as to where it will spray …  You might like to spray inside a box or cover the table to avoid any random spraying.

The further away you hold the spritzer the finer the mist will be.  Bring the Spritzer in closer and it will be more heavier.

This is the card we will be creating on the weekend.  (By the way there are still spaces if you are a Wollongong local and want to join us. Check the previous post for class details).

I have used the Southern Serenade stamp set and stamped it on to Shimmery White cardstock.  That gives extra sparkle but also is good for the liquid used.  I stamped the images in Black Stazon and coloured them with the Watercolor Pencils.   After it was finished I spritzed the card.  This spray is using the Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint.

You can see the Shimmer Paints on page 38 of the Holiday catalogue or view them in store ->HERE.  Scroll down the page to see each one.  There are 4 colours: Vegas Gold, Bright Copper, Champagne Mist (which is a silver) and Frost White.

Get your Free Sponge Dauber for each pot of Shimmer Paint you order from me this week.  Each pot is $14.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #42 – COLOURING – WHAT PAPER, WHAT INK??

Wednesday’s come around so quickly but I love sharing little tips and videos with you on Wednesday’s.  Do you like them?

Today’s Wednesday’s WOW! #42 is what I hope will be a helpful little chart.  Which Ink and which paper to use when you are colouring.  I often get asked this question in classes so maybe you are wondering too.

I think the chart is self-explanatory but it goes through different colouring mediums – the Aquapainter or Blender Pens with the Inkpads,  Watercolour Pencils and Stampin’ Blends and which ink and paper to use with these.  It really makes a difference to the finished result with what you use.  Next time you come to watercolour I hope that you find this useful to refer to.

Hope that is helpful.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #42 – QUICK CHRISTMAS CARDS WITH TIMELESS TIDINGS KIT!

Last weekend at my World Cardmaking Day class we focused on making easy, quick cards by using Kits.  There are so many lovely Stampin’ Up! kits available.  One of them we focused on was the gorgeous Timeless Tidings kit.  Everyone loved the beautiful watercoloured look to the cards and and they were very easy to put together.  If you haven’t noticed them they are on page 33 of the Holiday Catalogue or you can see them below.

For Wednesday’s WOW #42 I thought we would have a close look at this kit. I have the video below to see them and you can see how easy it is to put them together.

What do you think?  Aren’t they gorgeous?  The fun thing with kits too is that you don’t have to make them exactly as they are.  You can change them around little.  Just a note on them,  we found that when we peeled off some of the gold strips and trim not all of them came out clean so you need to use a paper piercer or similar to pick out the little “bits” left behind.  That is probably the longest part to putting the cards together.

**Grab your Timeless Tidings Kit in my store now -> HERE  $35 AUS.  (Australian residents only).  Please use the Host Code: SGXSEFMS

**You might want to grab the Timeless Tidings stamp set too. -> HERE  $35 Clear mount or $49 Wood mount.

Of course, you can contact me directly to order too.

A LITTLE COPPER FOR COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS #42!

With a long weekend last weekend I had a little extra time.  So I got to play along with this week’s Colour Inkspirations Challenge #42.

Here are the colours. How pretty!

This is the card I came up with.  I have to say I took note of the colours and then went and made the card.  Afterwards I realised it was Copper Foil not just Copper. Just as well I added the Copper Foil mat at the end. Phew!  This was the card I was showing in yesterday’s Wednesday’s WOW! video too with showing how to apply the Copper.

As I showed in the video I swiped some Copper Shimmer with a Sponge Dauber across the Mint Macaron card mat that I had embossed with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder.  On the white card I stamped the leafy spray from Wishing You Well in Mint Macaron and added some “dots” from the Timeless Textures set.   For the bow I daubered over some Copper Shimmer and then hand-cut it out.  This was raised up with Dimensionals.  I adhered the white card to the Copper Foil mat.  (TIP: to save your foil cut a square out from the centre to use on a different project.  You don’t notice it under the card piece).

For the sentiment I heat embossed that with white Embossing Powder on black card and it was cut with the small banner in the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  Of course more copper with some Copper Thread loops under the banner.  Lots of Copper on this card.  To finish I added a Mint pearl from the Artisan Pearls.

Thanks for visiting today,

Jenny
