USING THE ECLECTIC LAYERS THINLITS!

I have been sharing quite a few cards lately using the Oh! So Eclectic Bundle which includes the Oh! So Eclectic Stamp Set and the Eclectic Layers Thinlits.  (You can see them in the catalogue on p 133 and p213).

One thing with the Eclectic Layers Thinlits you may not realise is that some of the dies only emboss while others cut.  Some of the dies layer together to cut the outline and a detailed inside or you can use one on their own. It can be a little confusing  so I put together a little handy guide that is just the size to keep in the packet with the Thinlits so I can see at a glance.  I thought I would share that with you.

DIECUTTING AND EMBOSSING GUIDE WITH THE ECLECTIC LAYERS THINLITS

1) On the card on the left it shows some of the detailed shapes.  There are 2 different dies to create this shape; the outline die and a matching detailed die.  I find it easier to fit the detailed die inside the outline and cut them all together.  It is so much easier.  The outline die can be used on its own to cut the stamped image from the co-ordinating stamp set.

On this card too it show the dies that will create the dry embossed effect.   These dies will not cut.

2) On the card on the right it shows the diamond pattern.  I love the effect you get with this on cards.  Now if you are really patient you can cut sections of this diecut to create some other interesting shapes that you can add to your cards.  I am sure there are so many other combinations too.

In this Thinlits set there is also 2 leaf shapes you can cut to work with your flowers.

I hope that you might find this guide helpful.  Let me know what you think.

Hope your weekend is going awesome and you have time to steal away and create.

ECLECTIC HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

This card I am sharing today was my first play with the Oh! So Eclectic set last week.  I finally get to share it with you.

I have used Stylized Birthday with it for the sentiment.  I really don’t use this sentiment enough. It’s a great size without being overwhelming and I love the font.

I love this Oh So! Eclectic set too as you can stamp with the first stamp, overstamp it with the next one and if it is not lined up properly it doesn’t matter.  That’s the style.  🙂

The detailed flowers were first stamped with Berry Burst and then the solid image with Powder Pink.  Isn’t the washed out look nice?

The leaves are stamped with Lemon Lime Twist for the solid leaf and then Emerald Envy for the “hatched” leaf pattern.  I added some of the little “crossed” pattern in Powder Pink as a background filler.

It’s a very quick card to make a number of Birthday cards in a hurry.

Thanks for looking.  I will be back with some more cards with this set.

A BERRY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I thought I would show you one of the cards we made at Card Class last week.  I have been playing with the Happy Birthday Thinlits and Happy Birthday Gorgeous.

This card was CASED from Mary’s blog HERE.  I just didn’t add the DSP layer and kept it a little simpler.

I am loving the new Incolors.  I have used Berry Burst, Powder Pink and Lemon Lime Twist.

Thanks for visiting,

A SPECIAL CARD IN A BOX!

I know we’re in the midst of the all the excitement with the new catalogue but I just have to share this project.  I know it is using retired products now but I thought you might still like to see it.

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine asked me to make a special baby card for her new grandchild.  At that time she didn’t know what the gender was and requested it to be Teal Green in colour with splashes of red. I knew the family as well so I wanted it to be pretty special.  I recreated a card in a box that I made some time ago.  You can see that original project HERE. That card in a box has been repinned 3.3K times on Pinterest so I thought it might just be “good enough”. 🙂

The only paper I had to match the Bermuda Bay card was this retired paper.  I can’t even remember the name of it.  I just found a few scraps of it in my retired paper box. Lucky!!!

I dug out my ‘Something For Baby’ set too from my retired box.  That was lucky too as I don’t have any new baby stamps as yet.

So enough of the chatter.  Here it is.

I used Watermelon Wonder which matched. (Grabbed that out of the retired box too!).

I realised I didn’t get a photo of the left side flap.  That had little booties in Crushed Curry and I tied teeny, tiny bows in White Baker’s Twine.  The sentiment is from ‘Baby Bear’ – yes! That is current! I probably could have used that but Baby Bear was a bit big for the box.

Well it was very well received and I can tell you that baby Phoebe arrived safely last week.  She is very gorgeous and they were all delighted and fascinated in the card.  It can be displayed on the shelf in the nursery for some time to come.

Thanks for indulging me.  Back to current products in next post.

COLORFUL SEASONS CARD SET!

I made this set of cards a couple of weeks ago when I was playing around with the Colorful Seasons Bundle.  Now I can share them with you.

I made one in each colour of the Color Theory Paper Stack, so Dapper Denim, Old Olive, Crushed Curry and Berry Burst.  I was a little unsure how to use the Paint Strip pattern in the Paper Stack. I went with just a strip of it along the bottom edge of the white card mat before adhering to the Thick Whisper White card base. It’s a bit hard to tell but I cut the chair out in Crushed Curry and raised it up with Dimensionals and on the Dapper Denim one there are 2 die-cut snowflakes.

I love each of the sayings in this stamp set.  I think this card set would be nice to give to someone to encourage them along.  I should go and make a little card box to give them in.  Or, you can just give one to 4 different people to encourage them along.  I think there are many people who could use a little pick-me-up. 🙂

Thanks for looking,

Hope your weekend is going great.

OPEN HOUSE REVIEW AND A WALK THROUGH VIDEO!

Over the weekend I had my Open House Events for the new Catalogue.  I had some lovely ladies coming along for lots of fun and creativity.  I thought I would share some photos and a video for you.  Once again I didn’t take photos of when people are there…. I always forget that.  There is too much going on.  🙂

I just had a small display of samples but that’s OK.  Sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming when people first come along.

Firstly, the video for you.  (If you receive this post via email then head to my blog post by clicking on the Title and you should get there to view it properly)

I will share details of some of the cards I showed in the video over the next few posts but here is just a couple of still photos to share.

LEMON LIME LABEL ME PRETTY!

I have been busy all week getting things ready for my Open House this weekend showcasing some lovely new products.  I will share some of these after the weekend but I shared this card on Instagram this afternoon so thought I would quickly post it here for you. (BTW: If you are on Instagram you can follow me.  Just do a search for Jenny Hayward). 🙂

I needed to make some cards using the new Label Me Pretty Bundle.  Now when I get a new stamp set I do a little searching online for samples using sets that are very similar.  So in this case I was looking at the old Chalk Talk set and a few “tags” type sets.  I couldn’t believe how many stamp sets that Stampin’  Up! have released with the word “tags” in the name.  Anyway, I came across a few older cards that inspired me through Google searches and on Splitcoaststampers.

I had this small strip from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I just LOVE this Lemon Lime Twist paper in the pack and I couldn’t bare to throw this strip out. I sometimes keep small pieces but end up throwing them out at the end of the catalogue as I hadn’t got around to using them.   Not this time though … 🙂

This was the finished card I created.

I stamped one of the “label” sideways on white card to create a flourish effect in Lemon Lime. The strip was adhered to the card and then I tied around some Thick Black Baker’s Twine.  This was adhered to the Lemon Lime base card. Another label was stamped in Berry Burst on to the Berry Burst card and punched out with the Pretty Label Punch.   The sentiment is stamped in black on to white card and cut with a Layering Circles Framelit.   They were both raised up off the card with Dimensionals.  I added some Rhinestones to the card but still felt it was a bit plain so after a day of looking at it I very nervously stamped some leaves from the Colorful Seasons set.  I was so worried of messing it all up and getting ink everywhere at this point BUT it worked!! Phew!  I think it might have been good to sponge the edge of the card with Lemon Lime ink but I wasn’t going to bother with that at this point.

So a simple card but funny that the whole card was designed around this little strip of paper!

Thanks for stopping by,

Jenny
