WHAT IS STAMPIN’ UP! ABOUT THEN??

(If you receive this blog update as an email and you can’t see the image above then please pop over to the actual blog post and check it out).

I posted the image above on my Facebook Business page last week.  It created a lot of discussion and lots of interesting statements of what people felt Stampin’  Up! is about.  I thought I would share it all here and I would love to hear what you think PLUS I am going to draw someone at random to receive a prize.

Some of the things people on my Facebook page felt Stampin’  Up! was about to them is:

  • Creativity – through stamps, ink, papers, sharing ideas and inspiring each other.
  • Fun.
  • Making a difference in people’s lives.  (Changing lives and enriching lives). This can be through sharing stamping with others and helping them feel excited about it. Also, giving support to them maybe through fundraising or help.
  • Memories – making them during events and get together’s and preserving our memories by scrapbooking them.
  • Relaxing and providing a “time out” for you.
  • Friendships – This was the most popular.  It draws people in to share a common hobby/past-time.  As a result friendships are formed and these can be long-lasting.  For me personally, I have made friends with people from all over the world and I am very thankful for that.  I wouldn’t have “met” them if it wasn’t for Stampin’  Up!

So, can you add anything else?? Why not drop me a comment and tell me your thoughts and what Stampin’  Up! means to you.  Whether you are a Demonstrator or a customer. You might feel the same way as those mentioned above or it might be something else.

TWO 90TH BIRTHDAY!

I had the pleasure of making 2 special 90th Birthday cards the last couple of weeks.  I thought I would show you them.

This first one requested by a friend for a lovely old friend of hers.

I pulled out the Number of Years set and the Large Numbers Framelits for it.  The card was inspired by one on Pinterest.  The “90” needed something to lift it so I added a square cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits in Copper Foil and added a few loops with the Copper Thread. The sentiment is from the Blooms and Wishes set.

This next card I sent to a special lady.  I didn’t know her but I know what a milestone 90 is and I heard she was going to be having a very quiet birthday.  I couldn’t let this special milestone slip by.

I added a piece of the Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP to a white card base.  Cut a square with the Stitched Shapes Framelits in Vellum to sit the silver “90” on.  It’s hard to adhere vellum so I added a couple of dabs with Snail Adhesive under where the numbers would sit. Then sentiment is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous.

Two special cards for 2 lovely ladies.  I hope they had a lovely celebration in the end.

Have a wonderful week.

A 15 MINUTE WEDDING CARD!

It’s a crazy time of year isn’t it??? I feel I have fallen off the rails somewhere.  I need a holiday.  Oh! That’s right, I just got back a week ago from one. :/

Anyway,  you know how you get wedding invites at least 6 weeks before the Big Day.  So you know it is coming up. Haha! Well yes Josh has another wedding to go to today so of course I made a card late yesterday afternoon.  I had literally 15 minutes before I picked up my daughter from work.

Sorry the photo isn’t even great as it was late last night when I took a photo.  I had done a quick search on Pinterest earlier in the day to get ideas so I was inspired by one I saw on there – and it was quick!!  Isn’t that bad for a wedding. 😦

I used the Floral Themes stamp set.  The paper is from the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper pack.  Who would have thought!  I think it took most of the time to tie the ribbon!

To add to the dramas I had all my clear stamping blocks out in my studio for classes this weekend and I was in too much hurry to go outside and get them.  So I put the stamps on an inkpad to stamp it.  The trouble with that though is you can’t see where you are stamping.  Hehe! It was a bit of a gamble.  That explains the slight angle on the sentiment. 🙂

Later on I added an insert in the card. I added a piece of white copy paper and stamped the sentiment from the Rose Wonder set.  Sorry I didn’t take a photo.  I did relent and go and get a stamping block though.   I also got my Adhesive Pearls which were out in the studio too.  I think that finishes it off.

So a very quick card but my son was happy.

I need to make up a batch of wedding cards.  I say that all the time… He already has 2 invites on the fridge for the New Year.

So there you go.  I hope life isn’t too crazy for you.  I hope to come up for air soon.

Have a great weekend,

Jenny

A WEDDING CARD IN A HURRY!

Last Friday I was in a rush.  Josh had yet another wedding to go to.  I thought I had a wedding card made as I made up quite a few at one time a couple of months ago.  But I didn’t keep up with how many weddings he has been to lately!!!  So this was a wedding card made in a hurry.

This card changed a lot over the time I made it but in the end I went with this.  It was hard to get a good photo of it so I do apologise for the lighting.

The base is Sweet Sugarplum and the white card is embossed with the Petal Burst Embossing Folder. I only just received this folder.  I can’t believe I waited so long! The sentiment which is from Always and Forever is heat embossed by Copper Embossing Powder.  The white circle was layered on a piece of Copper Foil cut with the Layering Circle Framelits.  I played around with different things on it and wasn’t sure which way to go.  Like I had so much time to muck around with it…  In the end I cut a few of the flowers and leaves from the Flourish Thinlits.  A few loopy Copper Threads and an adhesive pearl finished it off.

I hope you like the finished result.  Maybe I should have done 2 as there is another wedding for him to go to in a couple of weeks … 🙂

Have a great weekend,

Jenny

WATCH IT WEDNESDAY #10 – KEEPING THOSE LITTLE DIES SAFE!

I have a very short video to share with you today for this week’s edition of WATCH IT WEDNESDAY #10.  I don’t know about you but sometimes those tiny little dies gets buried or dropped on the floor and you spend so long looking for them.  Well! I saw an idea somewhere quite a few months ago and just recently introduced this in the classroom.  I have to say this has been fantastic!! No more lost dies! Everyone loves the idea too when they come so I thought I would share it with you.

I hope you found that useful and you might be able to adapt it to your classroom or your own craft room.

SWEET HOME HOUSEWARMING!

I have a special card to share with you today. My niece and her partner recently bought their first home.  It is a very big deal and I wanted to make a card to share in their excitement.  The pressure was on though as my niece makes cards and comes to my classes.  Here is the card I made for them.

When I was going through my stamps I realised I didn’t have a lot for housewarming cards.  They are not cards you make too often but I came across the Sweet Home set and the Home Sweet Home  Thinlits.  I thought they would work well.  The colours are Old Olive, Soft Sky and Sweet Sugarplum.  The card layout was using the card sketch from CASE THIS SKETCH #193.

The paper I used was from the Merry Little Christmas DSP.  This paper doesn’t have to be used just for Christmas.  It has some great prints either Black and White or the Old Olive.  It really doesn’t do it justice in the catalogue. (p 12 Holiday Catalogue). When I sat the house on to the paper I thought it was a little plain so I added a Vellum circle and some loops of the Silver Thread. This was a fun card to put together.

My niece really loved it.  It passed the test I think. 🙂

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORGEOUS WREATH!

It’s been a little crazy this week with so much stuff going on outside stamping.  My daughter’s assessments, her birthday and then getting her licence today in addition to spending half the day chasing up a phone cable and then getting ready for the Craft Show this weekend.  It has all been happening here.  BUT it’s Thursday and time for a card to share with you. You don’t need to know all my personal dramas. 🙂

I made this card a couple of months ago with the lovely Happy Birthday Gorgeous set and of course Berry Burst.  I thought you  might like to see it.  This was inspired by a card on Pinterest.

The Berry Burst card mat was embossed with the Sparkle Embossing folder and then adhered to the Berry Burst card base.

To create the wreath, trace around one of your Circle Framelits with a pencil on your card and use that as a guide to stamp  your leaves.  Being clear stamps it makes it so easy to see. I have used Pear Pizzazz on this one.  Then I filled it in with some Berry Burst flowers and filled them in with the Powder Pink solid shape.  I think I could add a few more individual flowers raised up on the wreath.  I will try that later.  Stamp your sentiment in the centre of your circle.

I added a strip of Silver Glimmer paper behind the white card at the top and added some banners at the bottom.  One was from Silver Glimmer Paper and the other 2 are from the Color Theory Paper Stack. This is a great way of using those little scraps.

One must add a few Rhinestones to finish. 🙂

Thanks for visiting.  I think next week will be a little quieter.  I am keen to play with some new Christmas stamps.  I haven’t even had a chance to do that.  Stay tuned.
