GINGHAM BUTTERFLY ONSTAGE SWAPS!

Last week I shared one of my Onstage Swaps.  You can head back a few posts if you missed that.  Today I thought I would share my second swap.  It is good to have 2 different ones.  It gets a bit tedious making so many of one card.

For my second swap card I used the Butterfly Duet Punch with the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper.

I made some in each of the colours in the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper.

The card layout was similar to a card we made for Craft Alive a few months ago.

Here is a close-up for you of a couple of the cards.

Firstly Highland Heather and then Lemon Lime Twist.  The sentiment is from Colorful Seasons.

Check the butterflies though.  I saw the idea for this on Pinterest.  I thought I saved it and now can’t find it.  I will find it later I am sure

What I did though was sponge ink on strips of Shimmery White card so you get a little sparkle with it too.  Simply sponge 2 colours of ink in lines along the strip. See this below.  This was just a selection of the strips.  I did lots of sponged strips.

Once done punch the large and small buttefly using the Butterfly Duet Punch.  There were lots of pretty butterflies.  I did have fun making them.

Hope you like the cards. Thanks for visiting.

I have put together a video that I have below so you can see each one in more detail and see the sparkle and maybe learn how some of the cards were created.  So I hope you take a little time to watch it.  (It does go for about 24 minutes).  Be sure to watch until the end so you can see how you can be in the Giveaway to receive one of these card of your choice.

Here are some photos of the cards so you can save them for later reference.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #65 – EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR TRIMMER BLADES!

I often have people telling me about problems when cutting with the Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer.  The blades don’t seem to last long and they get furry edges when trimming. I have that problem too. Add to that now the Trimmer is being retired and there won’t be any more Trimmer blades available.

So I have a solution today for you for Wednesday’s WOW! #65 I think you will find very useful if you experience some of these problems.  How to extend the life of your blades to avoid those furry edges.  And also so you don’t have to replace your blade so quickly. 🙂

When you cut your card place a piece of scrap paper or copy paper in between the Trimmer and the card you are cutting.  You will get a crisper cut edge when you cut.  This will help you make those blades last longer before you have to replace them.

Of course you end up with shreds of paper but that’s ok.  Just recycle them.  I will say it can be tedious if you have to cut a lot of card but for a few quick cuts it is great. I have used this for some time now and I don’t have to replace my blades too frequently.

Hope this is helpful.  Share it around as it might help some of your cardmaking friends. 🙂

GEARED UP GARAGE WEEK – TOOL BOX BIRTHDAY!

This card uses the Geared Up Garage Suite and was a quick one to put together.

There are a couple of things I would change if I did this card again but hey! it’s for the blokes (so that is slang for the men).  Don’t be hard on yourself when you make a card for them.  They don’t really care. It’s got a car and it’s got tools.  It’s even got ribbon! Yes! even ribbon (the Black/Silver Striped Metallic Ribbon) on the men’s cards.

Once again like the last card,  I chose not to colour it so stamped the car on Crushed Curry card and cut it with the Garage Gears Thinlits.

See them and order -> HERE in my store. Please use the  Host Code: P3TZFUNA

See you again with another card for the boys using this suite,

BUTTERFLY BLUE WITH BRUSHOS!

I have another card to share with you today using the Brusho Crystal Colours. I shared one yesterday. If you missed it just pop back a post.

This card was created a little differently to the one  I shared yesterday. Let me tell you about it.

Firstly on Shimmery White card you will heat emboss your butterfly.  If you are not familiar with heat embossing.  Rub over your card with the Stampin’ Buddy.  Ink up your image (I used the butterfly from Beautiful Day), with Versamark.  Stamp the butterfly on your card and tip over some White Embossing Powder.  Clear Embossing Powder would work as well.  Heat the image with the Heat Tool to melt the powder.  I LOVE heat embossing.  That is what drew me in to stamping all those years ago.  It never gets old.

With the Aquapainter, wash over the butterfly going outside the lines too.  Sprinkle over the Blue Brusho Crystal – and watch it dissolve and spread.  That’s almost as magic as Heat Embossing.  You may like to add some more Brusho to add more colour or wash over more water.  Just see what it looks like.  Let it dry.

** I made a similar card a little while ago and even did a video back then. (It’s not a great one – still learning in that aspect).  If you want to head back to see that card and maybe catch the video, then head back to this post -> HERE.

To finish the card, I layered it on a piece of the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper.  Before adhering it down on to the Balmy Blue card mat I tied around some Black Baker’s Twine.  Then added the “friend” from the Well-Written Framelits.

BRUSHOS BUTTERFLY!

It has been a little while since I have shared a project with the Brusho Crystal Colour.  I have to say I have had finished Brushos pieces sitting around for a while but it is only recently that I have put a card together.

For this card I used Shimmery White Card.  I sprinkled over the Brushos Crystals. In one corner I sprinkled over the Yellow and then spritzed it with water, slightly angling it across the card. Then I sprinkled over the Red along the left hand edge and spritzed it the other direction.  I added a little more sprinkles over afterwards just to add some colour where it didn’t quite go.  I liked the finished effect when I made it but I didn’t know what I was going to do with it.

Recently I had the Butterfly Gala set out and had this butterfly leftover from another project.  I had coloured it with the Stampin’ Blends.  It was just the right colours.  I added a few loops of Silver Thread behind it. The “friend” is cut from the Well-Written Framelits Dies. The card is finished off with some Black/Silver Metallic Ribbon.

I will share another one tomorrow for you so stay tuned.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #63 – USING THE LEFTOVERS!

Do you have “bits” left on your craft table that you don’t end up using on your projects?  I do quite often.  Then they get shoved in a drawer to sometimes never see the light of day again.  I have just finished working on my swaps from Onstage and had some leftover “bits”.  Instead of shoving them away I thought “use them straight away …” So I thought maybe this is a good thing to chat about for Wednesday’s WOW! #63 – Using those leftover bits.

It might be scraps of Designer Series Paper, or die-cut pieces you don’t end up using.  Maybe it’s a sentiment or image that you changed your mind on.  If they don’t get used, do you just throw them or put them away for later?? And like me never to be used again. 🙂

SO … why not use them straight away and make another project right there and then.  You have all the products out, you have everything on hand.  I know sometimes it’s a time thing but I decided today to use them straight away.  Not to put them in the bottomless drawer.

So with that in mind.  I created this card with leftovers on my table.

The Gingham Gala paper was left from another project, The butterflies and the Highland Heather narrow card strip was left over from my Onstage swaps. I just cut another piece of Highland Heather card with the Delicate Lace Edgelits. I won’t go in to details with the butterflies at the moment.  I will tell you about them when I show you my swaps in the next week or 2.

I stamped the sentiment from Butterfly Gala on a scrap piece of white too and cut with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  I added some loops of Silver Thread under the sentiment. I just noticed on the photo that there is only 2 Rhinestones on the card.  I had put 3 on.  It’s good to work in odd numbers on the elements.  I must have dropped one off so I will have to fix that.

So the moral of the story is and the message for Wednesday’s WOW! #63 – use those scraps – straight away though.  Otherwise they enter the drawer of no return never to see the light of day again. 🙂

Have fun creating,

Jenny
