BATIK STYLE WITH LEAF COLLECTION FOR CI 169

I had a little play over the weekend just for me. I checked out the Colour Inkspirations Challenge and created along with the colours for this week.

The CI 169 colours for this week were: Basic Beige, Blueberry Bushel, Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy.

I had the Leaf Collection stamp out from other creating so thought I would try these colours with this stamp. This is the result.

I used the Emboss Resist Technique and then sponged over the different colours in different areas over the white card. It gives it a Batik style to the look.

To do this technique – Ink up the stamp in Versamark. Press the stamp on to the card and pour over the Clear Embossing Powder. Heat to melt the powder. Then with the Blending Brushes rub over ink in different parts. You will get some ink on the Embossed areas but that’s ok. Wipe off the excess ink with a tissue.

Heat Embossing is one of my favourite techniques.

You can join in with this colour challenge. Head to the Facebook group there. If you are not already a member then request to join. Then add your projects too. There is a different colour challenge every 2 weeks.

COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS CHALLENGE #150 WITH INKED AND TILED STAMP SET!

The Colour Inkspirations have their 150th Colour Challenge this week. I had to have a go. I first started these challenges way back near the beginning so wanted to join in with this milestone.

The Colour Challenge#150 this week was Pumpkin Pie, Calypso Coral, Sweet Sorbet, Old Olive and Pretty Peacock.

I have to say these colours were hard to use all together.

Here is the card I created. I have used the Inked and Tiled Stamp Set.

The paper is the Inked Botanicals Designer Series Paper stack. I have used 2 different patterns creating a block pattern.

The flowers were inked with Brushes and Daubers to add the different colours. The White Baker’s Twine was coloured with the Dark Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends.

It is nothing fancy but I liked the effect.

Hope you get to have a go at it. You can create your own and post it to the Facebook Group -> HERE.

Happy Crafting,

Jenny

ARTISTICALLY INKED FOR COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS CHALLENGE!

I had a little play this week – just because. I played along with the Colour Inkspirations Challenge #CI144.

I have to say I found it hard colours to put together. They are beautiful colours but just being so many it was hard to work them in.

I first pulled out a few stamp sets that I thought may work and then ended up choosing the Artistically Inked Stamp set. It’s nice to play with “older” stamp sets.

This is what I came up with. The colours were Bubble Bath, Crushed Curry, Lemon Lolly, Parakeet Party and Azure Afternoon.

I stamped a number of different flowers in the different colours and then played around with the placement. Eventually I got something together. 🙂

What would you do with these colours?

There is still time to play if you want to join in too. You can follow along on the Colour Inkspirations Facebook group -> HERE.

Happy Stamping,

Jenny

BUTTERFLY BRILLIANCE FOR COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS CHALLENGE!

I actually had time to play this weekend “Just Because”. It was nice to just dabble. I played along with the Colour Inkspirations Challenge #140. WOW! How awesome that it’s up to 140. I played along in the early days but just haven’t had time to lately.

The Colour Inkspirations Challenges can be seen -> HERE. You can see what others have created with these colours and even create one yourself and enter. Have a go.

Here is my card for the challenge for this week. It was nice subtle colours. I thought it would be good to drag out a stamp set I haven’t used for a while. And this Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set is retiring very soon. So nice to ink it up again.

The colours were Petal Pink, So Saffron, Soft Sea Foam and Early Espresso (this one was a dark shade against those nice pastels).

Here is my card.

I blended the white card using the Blending Brushes with the Petal Pink, So Saffron and Soft Sea Foam. Then stamped the butterflies in Early Espresso. The sentiment from Happiness Abounds is stamped in Early Espresso too. The lovely Soft Sea Foam ribbon adds a little elegance.

I hope you like the card. Hope you get to play “just because” this week.

Have a great week,

Jenny

COLOUR INKSPIRATION CHALLENGE #58!

It’s been some time since I have been able to play along with the Colour INKspiration Challenges – or any challenges really.  So the other day I had a little time so thought I was going to do one.

This week’s Colour INKspiration Challenge #58 is using the colours: Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Gold Foil.  You can follow along -> HERE.

Here is my card.  I thought the colours suited a Vintage Style or for a sweet Baby card.  I went with a Baby card.  The new stamp set Wildly Happy arrived last week so thought this was a great opportunity to ink it up.

The bunny and the sentiment were heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. I used the Shimmery White card. I lightly watercoloured the bunny using the Blushing Bride inkpad and an Aquapainter. A decorative strip and little flower was diecut from Gold Foil using the Flourish Thinlits dies.

Then I went a little “arty”.  On the Shimmery White card mat I flicked some Blushing Bride ink splatters by adding some Blushing Bride ink to a Clear Block, adding a littler water with the Aquapainter and then flicking it off the block gently on to the card.  I was a little nervous doing this as it is not something I have done before and wasn’t sure how much control I had – but it worked ok.

If you have time why not play along with this challenge.  They are fun to be a part of and to really extend/challenge your creativity.  Have a go!  (I added the link above).

Thanks for looking,

Jenny

A LITTLE COPPER FOR COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS #42!

With a long weekend last weekend I had a little extra time.  So I got to play along with this week’s Colour Inkspirations Challenge #42.

Here are the colours. How pretty!

This is the card I came up with.  I have to say I took note of the colours and then went and made the card.  Afterwards I realised it was Copper Foil not just Copper. Just as well I added the Copper Foil mat at the end. Phew!  This was the card I was showing in yesterday’s Wednesday’s WOW! video too with showing how to apply the Copper.

As I showed in the video I swiped some Copper Shimmer with a Sponge Dauber across the Mint Macaron card mat that I had embossed with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder.  On the white card I stamped the leafy spray from Wishing You Well in Mint Macaron and added some “dots” from the Timeless Textures set.   For the bow I daubered over some Copper Shimmer and then hand-cut it out.  This was raised up with Dimensionals.  I adhered the white card to the Copper Foil mat.  (TIP: to save your foil cut a square out from the centre to use on a different project.  You don’t notice it under the card piece).

For the sentiment I heat embossed that with white Embossing Powder on black card and it was cut with the small banner in the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  Of course more copper with some Copper Thread loops under the banner.  Lots of Copper on this card.  To finish I added a Mint pearl from the Artisan Pearls.

Thanks for visiting today,

Jenny

ACCENTED BLOOMS FOR #CI38!

I had a little time yesterday to play along with the Colour Inkspirations Challenge for this week.

#CI38 colours were Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Gray Granite, Whisper White and Basic Black.

I had been using the Accented Blooms stamp set the last few days, which I will show you those cards later on. Since that set was out I thought I would use that.  I think the soft muted colours would work well with a little watercolouring on flowers.

Here is my card.

I came to the conclusion this week that I am not a fan of colouring.  So to colour this for the challenge was a little surprise.  But I think a little freestyle watercolouring can work well.  It doesn’t matter if you go out of the lines. 🙂

I used the Aquapainter and Inkpads to watercolour this. TIP: To watercolour any image I suggest several washes of colour if you want to build up the colour. Then allowing it to dry in between.  For this card I lightly washed sections with the Powder Pink and then allowed it to dry.  It only takes a few minutes.  Wash over the areas with the Gray Granite.  Then wash over again in the areas with the Powder Pink.  I did that 3 times with the Powder Pink as it is such a pale colour.  When it was all dry I washed over the centres of the flowers with the Berry Burst ink.  I allowed it to dry before washing again with the Berry Burst.  It is a time consuming process but I think worth it.

The lovely delicate edge is cut from the Delicate Lace Edgelits.

The sentiment is stamped in Black and punched with the Tailor Tag Punch.  I punched another piece from Berry Burst card.  Cut that piece in half horizontally then could layer it underneath the stamped piece so you see the little pink edge peeking out.  I finished with some Artisan Pearls and some Silver Thread wrapped around a few times.

Now to get this in to the Facebook group before the time is up tonight.  You can head over to the group -> HERE and join in on the challenges.  It’s a great way to extend your creativity.

Jenny

COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS CHALLENGE #35 WITH NEUTRALS!

Initially this Colour Inkspirations Challenge #CI35 this week stumped me.  All neutrals!  Now with the colour revamp though we had a mix of other colours. (which I am still trying to get my around as neutrals!).

I had a little time today to play – and it’s nice to play with new toys. I used the gorgeous new Botanical Bliss Bundle (Botanical Bliss stamp set and the Botanical Tags Thinlits).

We were required to use 3 of the Neutrals colour collections.  I chose Merry Merlot, Mossy Meadow and Crumb Cake.

The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed in Copper.  It is cut with one of the dies in the new Stitched Labels Framelits. I finished it with some Copper Thread loops.

You can play along too if you are quick.  It finishes Monday night (AET).  Head -> HERE to the Facebook group.

COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS #34 AND FRESHLY MADE SKETCHES #340

It’s a rainy cold day here today and what better way to spend it than stamping.  I thought I would indulge in a little challenge time.  For this card I combined 2 challenges; Colour Inkspirations #34 which I haven’t played along with for weeks, and Freshly Made Sketches #340 which I often follow their sketches but never actually enter it at the time.  So here is a double whammy. 🙂

So here is my card I created.  The colours turned out a little softer than in the inspiration image.

On Shimmery White card I watercoloured 3 of the colours Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and Pool Party.  The Basic Gray was the strips down the sides of the panel.  As I have been using some of the gorgeous Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Designer Series Paper and had it out I thought I would add that to the panel.  It is so delicate.  The sentiment is from Petal Palette.  I added a little copper dragonfly from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits. Also added some Copper Thread under the sentiment.

You can check out the other entries and why not play along too.

HAPPY CELEBRATIONS FOR COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS CHALLENGE #30!

I had some time over Easter to have a go at the Colour Inkspirations challenge for this week.  Let me say these colours were hard!!!!

These are the colours for Colour Inkspirations #30.

What do you think of them?? What a combination!!

I will share the card I made.  I will say this is Take Two.  The first card was not good.  Can a card be ugly?  Yes … :/

I was happier with this one.

When I attempt a challenge like this I pull out all the ink pads to see how the colours look together and then go through my stamp sets to see what might work with the colours.  I had a few stamps out.  I made the first card and I wasn’t happy with it – at all! And no it won’t see the light of day.  Just let it be said that we can all do dud cards.

Any of the sets I had out didn’t appeal to me to try another one so I went through my stamps again and came across this set, Happy Celebrations.  I had forgotten about this set.  It was in my drawer with the “sentiment” stamps.  I have had this set for over a year I think and used one sentiment out of it.  I thought this might just work and it had 5 letters in “HAPPY” for the 5 colours. 🙂

The letters were coloured with the Stampin’ Write Markers.  I even added a little sparkle with the Clear Wink of Stella pen.

The layout was based on Freshly Made Sketches #326.

If you get stuck how to put a card together following a card sketch is a great idea.  I have a board for Card Sketches on Pinterest -> HERE if you want to follow it.  If you missed yesterday’s post I gave some tips on following a sketch to make a card so head back to the previous post.

So how would you work these colours in a card??

Thanks for stopping by,

Jenny
