MID-SIZE GIFT TOTE FOR SECRET SANTA!

I can share this project now.  I made this Gift Tote last week with a small gift in it for our team Secret Santa.  I thought you might like to see it and if you are still in need for some Christmas packaging it might be just the size you need.  I have the tutorial below.

It was just the right size for my gift of 2 small tubes of lotion and some chocolates.

The chocolates were wrapped Hershey Nuggets. We can’t get these here in Australia but I grabbed some when I went to Hawaii recently.  Score!! I put them in a cello bag with a little topper.

I wanted to make up a little Tote but I didn’t have any Christmas paper left.  This sheet of the Gold from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper is kinda Christmas-sy. 🙂 Teamed with some Fresh Fig card trim and the ribbon it makes it a little classy don’t you think?

Here is a close up of the tag on the bag.

The sentiment is from the Brightly Lit set layered on a Gold Foil oval and then layered on a Fresh Fig oval cut from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The Gold ribbon is looped around the handle and adhered between the Fresh Fig and the Gold layer.  The label on the chocolates which you don’t see too well is also from the Brightly Lit set and cut with a circle from the Layering Circles Framelits and one from the Stitched Shapes Framelits again in Fresh Fig.

To make this I was inspired by a tutorial I had saved quite a few years ago before the days of Pinterest.  I converted it to metric and modified the instructions.

Do you want to know how to make your own Tote? I have the tutorial below for you in step-by-step instructions in both metric and in imperial.

If you like a more visual tutorial just hang tight and I will get that out to you shortly.

MID-SIZE GIFT TOTE

1. Cut Designer Series (patterned) paper to 21cm x 28cm (8 ½” x 11”).

2. On the short side score at 3.5cm (1 3/8”) on one side. Turn your paper 180 degrees and score at 3.5cm ( 1 3/8”) on the other side.

3. On the long side score the paper at 11.5cm (4.1/2”) on one end. Turn your paper 180 degrees and score at 11.5cm (4 ½”) on the other end.

4. Cut in on the middle tabs on the long side on both sides. Fold on all the scored lines.

5. Cut 2 strips of Co-ordinating card measuring 21cm x 3.5cm. (8 ½” x 1 3/8”). Score at 3.5cm (1 3/8”) in on each end on each piece. Adhere these strips along the top and bottom edge of the Designer Series Paper.  (ie the short side).

6. Add adhesive to the outside of the small centre tab on the side. Fold up one long side tab over this tab to adhere. Repeat the same on the other side.

7. Run Adhesive on the inside edge of the other long tab and fold over to adhere on to the other side tab. This forms a bag shape.

8. Punch 2 holes along the top evenly spaced. If it helps mark with pencil the points you want to punch to help you line it up.

9. Run your length of ribbon through the holes on one side and tie on the inside to secure. Repeat with ribbon on the other side.

If you make one do share your version with me.  I would love to see it.

Have a great day,

Jenny

PERFECTLY ARTISTIC BAGS!

I know I told you I was going to share some more Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits cards and I will, but I HAVE to show you these bags. I realised the other day that there was less than a week left of some fantastic Sale-A-Bration products. I still had so much of the lovely ‘Perfectly Artistic’ DSP that I just HAD to use. What better way but to use it but to make some bags.

Here they are for you. I thought I would make 3 different ones. I will show you how to make them too.

5186

BLUSHING BRIDE MINI BAG

This cute little pink one is very simple to make. I found the idea on the internet somewhere quite some time ago but I am not sure where now – sorry 🙂

image-5196

Cut your paper to 15cm x 30cm.  (6″ x 12″)

On the 15cm (6″) side, score at 4cm. (1 1/2″)

On the 30cm (12″) side score at 10cm, 14cm, 24cm and 28cm.  (4″, 5 1/2″, 9 1/2″ and 11″)

Cut up on the score lines on the 30cm (12″) side up until it meets the other score line. Cut off the small tab at the end. Add adhesive on the small tab at the side and assemble. Add adhesive to the bottom tabs and fold up and adhere.

Decorate as you like. I have used the greeting from a Sale-A-Bration set ‘Botanicals For You’. I added a strip of Silver Glimmer Paper too for the dazzle factor. To close the bag I simply used a Wooden Clothespin over a folded Paper Doily.

MINT MACARON BAG

Here is a side view.

The Mint Macaron is another quick bag. You can find the tutorial to make this bag at ChicNScratch HERE.

LARGE BASIC GRAY BAG

5191

This large bag is so easy to make.  I don’t know why it has taken me so long to make one of these. You can find the instructions on a number of blogs.

For mine, I took 2 sheets of the Basic Gray pattern from the pack. On 3 sides, score at 5cm (2″). Cut up on the tabs at the bottom. Place adhesive along the bottom of one sheet and join the 2 sheets together. Place adhesive to the side tabs on one sheet and assemble together.

TIP #1 you could if you like score on the top edge as well when you are scoring and then fold that score line forward to show the inside colour on the outside, if that makes sense? I had decided that I wanted a black edge. I cut strips from black card stock approximately 5cm (2″) wide and adhered that along the top edge. I think it makes a striking contrast.

TIP #2 for your ribbon handles.  I didn’t punch holes in my bags to add the ribbon.  I added the strong Tear Tape to each end of the ribbon and adhered them to inside of the bag.  To cover the ends I punched out an oval in card and adhered this over the ends.  It gives a neater finish I think.

I hope you like these bags. They were fun and I was surprised how easy they were to make. Go and make some yourself. 🙂

Until  next time,

TEA BAG HOLDERS FOR A CAUSE!!

I can finally share this project I have been working on the last 2 weeks.  They are all now sent off and reached their destination.  On a Facebook group I am on the call went out for help for a Fundraiser.  I offered to make some little gifts for the goodie bags they would have.  Then the realisation hit – What was I going to do?? I needed 65!!!  After a little pondering I decided to make some little Tea Bag Holders.  I had an abundance of teabags – and lots of retired paper. 🙂

Here is just a sample of some of them.

four

I used the set ‘Garden in Bloom’ for the little labels on the front.  I thought it was very appropriate for such an event.

Here is just one of them. I will share the ‘how to’ further below.

closed

Opened out I could fit a tea bag, a cute tea verse (see below) and my business card.

IMG_20150928_100753384

Here is the verse I put inside.  I found this on Pinterest.

“When  your  day  seems  topsy  turvy,

And as stormy  as  can  be.

There  is  nothing  quite as  tranquil,

As a nice hot  cup  of tea.”

**

So here they are all 65 of them packed and ready to go.

box

So here are the details if you would like to make your own.  There are a few different versions around the internet but these were inspired by a Convention swap I received some years ago.  I adjusted the size so I could fit my business card in and just made them a little differently.  I could get 4 to a 12″x 12″ sheet of Designer Series Paper.

TEA BAG HOLDER

Cut your paper to 7.5 cm x 25 cm     (3″ x 9 7/8″)

Score your paper at 9 cm, 10.2 cm, 11.5 cm and 21 cm.    (3 1/2″, 4″, 4 1/2″ and 8 1/4″).

Fold on your score lines creating a “W” shape. (I hope that makes sense??).  The end with the narrowest scored piece is the front flap. Corner punch the corners on this flap.  I used the new Curvy Corner Trio Punch for most of them or else I used the regular Corner punch.  Add a bow to the front flap.

Stamp your greeting and punch out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch.  Add Dimensionals on the back just on the lower section.  Add to the front of your holder.  You can tuck the flap under the top of the punched circle to hold it together.

I hope you like these.  They are very quick to make once you get going.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jenny

‘AWESOMELY ARTISTIC GIFT BAG’

When I was at the South Pacific Convention back in late April (yes that long ago!!), I had a play with the Gift Bag Punch Board.  This is a new punch board in the catalogue.  I am sure by now you have seen lots of fun bags and boxes using this new tool.  I haven’t got one but I recently assembled the bag I made. I wasn’t sure how I was going to finish it off I guess that is why it took so long. 🙂 I thought I would show you the finished result.

I used my favourite set ‘Awesomely Artistic’.  Check it out!

P1160882

I stamped the blossoms and the “dotty” strip in Soft Sky on to the Soft Sky Bag base.  The sentiment frame was stamped in Smoky Slate on Smoky Slate card with the greeting stamped in Tangerine Tango.  This was cut with the Project Life Framelits.  The dragonfly was stamped in Tangerine Tango and fussy cut.  I had to add some Silver Metallic Thread loops.  I only just received that thread THAT DAY! Whoop!  I tied off the bag with the White Cotton Ribbon.

Check out a close-up of the thread loops.

P1160885

Hope you like it?  If you do a quick search for the Gift Bag Punch Board you can find lots of different ways of using this board.  If you check out on Pinterest there will be LOTS more ideas. 🙂  Check out the Stampin’ Up! Youtube video below to see how easy it is to use.  (If you receive this blog post by email you might need to go directly to my blog post to view the video.  Sorry.  Sometimes the video links get missed)

Thanks for checking out my ‘Awesomely Artistic’ bag.

Have a great day,

BOHEMIAN TOTE!!

I have been playing around with the new Bohemian Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I really like the colours and the funky patterns.  Totes are all the go at the moment and I wanted to create a new Tote.  It is not a particularly new design using 2 sheets of the DSP but I thought I would change it up a bit.  Plus I added a little tab to hang your gift card off. I hope you like this one 🙂

P1160789       P1160791

P1160795

Would you like to make one?  Here are the instructions in metric and imperial.

BOHEMIAN TOTE

2 Sheets of 12×12 Designer Series Paper (DSP) I have used the Bohemian DSP

Handles: 2 pieces of 20.5cm x 8cm (8” x 3 1/8”) co-ordinating cardstock

1 piece of 28cm x 8cm (11” x 3 1/8”) co-ordinating cardstock

Card Tab on Handle:   2cm x 10cm (¾” x 4”) co-ordinating cardstock

Inside Base:   4.8cm x 20.2cm (1 7/8” x 8”) co-ordinating cardstock

  1. On each piece of DSP score your sheets at 5cm (2”) on each side. Fold on each of the score lines.
  2. Cut up on the small score lines at the bottom of each piece of DSP.

P1160761

  1. Add adhesive to the 2 small bottom tabs on one sheet of the DSP on the outside. Adhere this to the inside of the long bottom tab.
  2. Place this assembled piece on to the second piece of DSP which has the right side facing down.

P1160763

  1. Add adhesive to the bottom small tabs on the second DSP sheet and assemble on to the bottom of the first piece. Add adhesive to the long side tabs on the inside of the second sheet of DSP. Adhere this to the first piece.  Add adhesive to the long bottom tab of the second sheet of DSP and fold up on to the first piece.  So it is like wrapping the second sheet onto the first sheet. (The piece at the bottom would be the front of the bag so just check to see what print you want showing).
  2. On the 28cm x 8cm (11”x 3 1/8”) piece for the handle, place adhesive at each end of the handle ON THE UNDERSIDE. Adhere on the outside of the bag near the top.
  3. Take one end of this handle piece and adhere to the top of the bag on the outside of the bag. Adhere the other end to the other side of the bag on the outside of the bag.

P1160765

  1. Take one piece of your 20.5cmx8cm (8”x 3 1/8”) cardstock and place adhesive on the back of this piece. Line up the top edge of the piece with the top edge of your bag positioning it over the handle piece. And adhere on to the front of the bag.  Repeat with the other piece adhering this to the back of your back.  NOTE: If you wish to add brads to your bag for decoration ADD THESE FIRST.  (Just so you don’t see the back of them inside the bag).

P1160766

  1. Fold on the score lines of the small card tab and unfold.  Add adhesive to the ends (on the side facing up). Fold over the piece again and adhere this piece to the front of your bag.

P1160796

  1. Add your piece of cardstock base to the inside of the card. This provides some extra strength.

Decorate the bag as you like.

——————-

Card to hang on the front measures 20cm x 7.5cm. Score at 10cm.

7 ½” x 3”. Score at 3 ¾”

P1160798

For my card I used the Boho Chic Embossing Folder on the front of the Bermuda bag card.  The Happy Birthday is from ‘Amazing Birthday’. I stamped it first onto Whisper White Cardstock in Blackberry Bliss and then again twice on scrap card with Bermuda Bay and Delightful Dijon.  I cut 2 of the “HAPPY’s” out of each colour and adhered them over the top of the Blackberry Bliss greeting. The Whisper White piece was matted on to Delightful Dijon and the whole piece was raised up with dimensionals.  I wrapped around some Bermuda Bay Baker’s Twine and added a silver button that I had sewed with white sewing thread.  This complemented the silver buttons on the bag.

I hope you like this version of the Tote Bag.  It’s a good size for those larger gifts.  Enjoy making them.

Have a happy weekend.  I hope it’s a crafty one for you.  It’s a long weekend here so I hope there is some time to create this weekend.

LARGE TOTE BAGS ARE ALL THE RAGE!!!

You  might have seen lots of little Tote Bags around the internet???  They are great little gift bags to give those special gifts to others.  A few years ago now I created a larger Tote Bag as many of them were great for card sizes or small gifts but if you have a larger gift THEN a larger Tote is needed right???  The Totes I shared way back then continue to be a huge hit on my blog and they have a large number of repins on Pinterest every week.  SO, if you have missed it, I thought I would show you these again. I have another type of bag in the process at the moment and when I finally get to create them I will share that too.

So here is my Tote bags for you that you can make to give that special larger gift.  (maybe a top or scarf or LOTS of chocolates!!!). 😉

A little while after making these I decided it was time for an update.

You can find this Tote in this post HERE.  I followed the original tutorial with a few modifications.

I would love to see your versions so send me a photo. If you make one then don’t forget to give credit.  🙂

OCCASIONS AND SALE-A-BRATION LAUNCH 2015!

Last Saturday I had my Occasions and Sale-A-Bration Catalogue Launch.  It was a great time with 2 different times scheduled.  I think we all had a great time.  Why wouldn’t we?? We are creating and having a few laughs (always good for the soul!!).  I thought I would show you the projects we did.

Firstly, this card uses the new Chalkboard cardstock and chalk inks. (p 25 of the Occasions Catalogue). The chalk inks come in 3 colours at the moment – Aquarmarine (green), Rose Coral (pink) and Yellow Citrus (yellow). This card was CASED from Pinterest.  I have used the Sale-A-Bration paper ‘Best Year Ever’. The chalk inks match nicely with this paper.  I used the ‘Big Day’ stamp set. Another Sale-A-Bration Free choice!

P1150954

To give an idea how the Chalkboard cardstock looks I stamped the images on different card for comparison.  You might get some idea from the photos but I have to say it is much better in real life. 🙂

I used the same chalk ink on each of these cards – the Rose Coral chalk ink pad. The first one on the left the image is stamped on regular Basic Black cardstock, the middle one is stamped on the chalkboard paper on the rough side.  The one on the right ( I know I didn’t write on this one.  I thought I could use it on a card later), is stamped on the shiny, smooth side of the Chalkboard paper.  This is important.  You will notice the 2 different surfaces to the card. You must stamp on the smoother side. You get a much more crisper image.

P1150777

This card was CASED from Pinterest also and is using ‘Crazy About You’ stamp set.  This is stamped in Strawberry Slush and Pistachio Pudding.  The greeting is in Smoky Slate and the “you” is from the ‘Hello There’ Thinlets from the Silver Foil.

P1150857

Of course, we can’t forget the Goodie Bags I gave to all the guests.  These were inspired by a project on Pinterest.  I used regular brown lunch paper bags and decorated them with the ‘Butterfly Basics’ stamp set and the Butterfly Dies.  The sentiment is from the Sale-A-Bration set ‘Simply Wonderful’.  I coloured part of the “THANKS” with the blender pen and inkpads.  The Designer Series Paper is from the Painted Blooms DSP.  Absolutely gorgeous paper! The tags were attached with a cute little peg.

P1150926

P1150928

So I bet you wish you could have joined us!! If you are local you will have to make sure you are here next time 🙂  It was great fun.

If you haven’t seen the Occasions or Sale-A-Bration Catalogues yet then there is a link in the right hand column that will take you there.  If you would like your own copy (and you are in Australia), then let me know and I can send one your way.

TEAM SECRET SANTA!

We had our last ‘Inky Fingers’ team meeting for the year last week.  As usual we had swaps and also had a Secret Santa.  I will show you the Secret Santa gifts in a minute but first I will show you the swaps I made.

I had limited time but I made up some tags with a candy cane attached. These are just some of the selection.

P1150552

I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch to punch out the top of the tags.  I stamped the background on the tags with ‘Gorgeous Grunge’ for the speckled effect and the stars from ‘Be the Star’ stamp set.  The “Merry” is from ‘Cheerful Tags’ and the “Merry Little Wish” from ‘Get Your Santa On’. I used the Nordic Noel DSP to cut the trees and the stars.

Now I will show you the Secret Santa gift I received.  This is a cute little backpack and was filled with teabags and chocolate!

P1150619

P1150614

Isn’t it sweet?? I have been wanting to make one of these for a while but now I have my own cute one.  Thank you my Secret Santa 🙂

Here is the gift bag that I made for my Secret Santa. It was a regular white gift bag with handles and then I made up the stars to hang off it. It is hard to see but I stamped the stars in Lost Lagoon and heat embossed them. The silver stars were embossed with the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. I added a Rhinestone to each star and threaded Silver ribbon to hang them.  I didn’t take a photo of the whole bag.  Sorry – but I think you get an idea.

I hope your Christmas preparations are going well.  It is hard to believe that Christmas is in just 2 days. Yikes!!

12 WEEKS OF CHRISTMAS – WEEK 8!

Latte 12 weeks Header

We are now up to Week 8!!! Today’s project is brought to you by Libby.  This is very cute!  Libby has made a bag with a shaker frame on the front, a Star Gift Box and two cards to pop inside the bag. This would make a lovely gift to give someone before Christmas.

12WeeksChristmas_Week8

Here is a closer look at the bag.  What a great idea having the Shaker Star on the front!

Wk8_12Weeks2014_22.jpg _ bag

The shaker frame is made using the Stars Framelit Dies, ‘Many Merry Stars’ Photopolymer Stamp Set, Confetti Stars Punch with Red Glimmer Paper and Frosted Sequins.

Wk8_12Weeks2014_18.jpg _ Shaker frame

The bag itself is made using the ‘Under the Tree’ Speciality Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Catalogue.

The Star Gift Box has a small Kit Kat Chocolate inside it and would be great as a stocking filler or a teacher gift, teamed with a bottle of wine or a coffee voucher etc.

12WeeksChristmas_Week8_8.jpg _ star

The two cards also use the ‘Many Merry Stars’ Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Stars Framelit Dies with the Big Shot.

This card uses layering of stars and Dimensionals to give depth and dimension. Both cards are stamped inside and the envelopes are also stamped.

12WeeksChristmas_Week8_9.jpg _ card

The last card uses the nesting of the Stars Framelit Dies again to make a frame of Gold Glimmer Paper which adds some sparkle to this card along with the Frosted Sequins.
