BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS WEEK – DAY 3 – TOP PANEL CARD!

Moving along on our Beautiful Moments Showcase Week.  Day 3.  This card is a little different.  I don’t know what you might call it but I call it a Top Panel Card.  I will share the instructions below.

The base card is a little smaller than the standard size allowing you to have a panel overhanging the edge.

Of course, you could do the base any size but for this one, the base card measures 21cm x 10.5cm scored at 10.5cm.  (8 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ scored at 4 1/4″).  The paper mat is slightly smaller 4mm (1/8″).

The stamped piece is watercolor card cut with the larger die in the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  The image was stamped in Black Stazon and coloured with the Watercolor Pencils and washed over lightly with the Aquapainter.  When the watercolor card was cut it left some scratches on the other side.  (maybe because my plates are scratched!).  I didn’t want it showing on the reverse so I adhered a piece of White card on the back.

The sentiment was also stamped on watercolour card to match the stamped piece.  The sentiment is from the Positive Thoughts stamp set.  It was stamped in Black Stazon so I could do a light colour with the Daffodil Delight pencil and lightly wash it.  The flourish piece behind the sentiment is from the Flourish Dies.

Check back tomorrow for Day 4 of our Showcase using this lovely set.

STAMPING AROUND THE WORLD FEBRUARY BLOG HOP!

Welcome to the Stamping Around the World Blog Hop.  The team brings you the Free Tutorials each month and we have decided to join in a Blog Hop to share more creations just for you.  You will travel all over the world in this hop.  Each of us are using the same stamp set that we used in our Tutorial projects. So I hope you enjoy the Hop.

You would have come from Margriet’s Blog HERE or just starting from mine here. Either way you can follow along with us.

For my project this month I have used the Incredible Like You set.  For today’s project I created a Panel card using this set.  I have the instructions below so if you want to make your own you can.  This card was hard to take photos of so I hope you get the idea.

Front on.

The front of the card is cut shorter with the panel overhanging.

The butterfly is from Butterfly Gala coloured with the Stampin’ Blends. I just happened to have this finished butterfly on my desk left over from a previous project that I didn’t end up using. It worked well I think.

I added the Glitter Gems for a little sparkle.  The paper is from the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration.  (This paper is in low supply so you if you want it you better grab this one soon). The Organdy Ribbon is already gone sorry.

The inside.

The sentiment is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous.

MAKE YOUR OWN PANEL CARD

I have the measurements for you in Metric and Imperial.

METRIC (apologies in advance for the odd measurements but this is what I started with on my white stamped piece and went from there.  The panel can be made in any size to suit)

CARD

Base Card (Highland Heather) – 14.8cm x 21cm scored at 10.5cm.  Trim off 3cm on the front.

Card Mat (Lemon Lime Twist) – 14.4cm x 7cm

Paper – 14cm x 6.6cm

Inside Piece (Whisper White) – 14.4cm x 10.1cm

FRONT PANEL

Mat (Highland Heather) – 9.5cm x 7.2cm

Mat (Lemon Lime Twist) – 9.1cm x 6.8cm

Stamped Piece (Whisper White) – 8.7cm x 6.4cm

IMPERIAL (for the mat pieces I have reduced them by 1/4″.  You may wish to reduce them more to suit you)

CARD

Base Card (Highland Heather) – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″scored at 4 1/4″.  Trim off 1 1/2″ on the front.

Card Mat (Lemon Lime Twist) – 5 3/8″ x 2 7/8″

Paper – 5 1/4″ x 2 3/4″

Inside Piece (Whisper White) – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″

FRONT PANEL

Mat (Highland Heather) – 3 3/4″ x 2 3/4″

Mat (Lemon Lime Twist) – 3 5/8″ x 2 5/8″

Stamped Piece (Whisper White) – 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″

STAMPED FLOWER

Now if you notice the flower on the front there isn’t actually a stamp for that.  I created that using some of the images in the set.  The “dot” for the centre and the “petals” for the leaf.  This is how you can build your flower up.  I hope it is clear enough.

1. First stamp the “dot” on your card.  I used So Saffron.  Use the leaf shape to build your petals of your flower.

2. Stamp around the circle spacing them evenly apart.

3.  Go back around the circle stamping in the spaces.

4. You have your finished flower.  I added some Wink of Stella in the centre of the flower but it didn’t show up too well on the card photo.

The Incredible Like You set is in my store now -> HERE.  $28 Aus. It has been very popular at all the events I have done recently.  Everyone loves how versatile it is and the sentiments are lovely.

PEEKABOO PANDA WITH PARTY PANDAS!

So have you checked out the new Occasions Catalogue yet?  What do you think??  What is your favourite?

What about Sale-A-Bration?? I couldn’t go past the adorable Party Pandas set.  So cute!!  I think it is going to be a very popular choice this year.  Of course, I had to use this set first.  This is one card I made.  I just have to show you it.

I call this my Peekaboo Panda card.

This is a Panel card.  I will explain how to make it further below.

This is the inside of the card.  Not just one Panda! Too cute. 🙂

To create the Panel Card:

1. On the front of the card base: The US standard Card base would measure 5.5″ x 8.5″ folded in half. The Metric size card base is 14.8cm and 21cm folded in half. Cut off at 3cm (approximately 1 1/4″) from the bottom edge.  Put that strip aside for later.

2. Again on the card base measure down 3cm (1 1/4″) from the score line. Cut off at the 3cm mark. Put that section away.

3. Cut 2 strips of Designer Series Paper (this one is the Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper), just slightly smaller 2.6cm (approximately 1″) wide and 14.4cm long (In imperial make it slightly smaller the the width of your card base).  Adhere these one to the top section of the front of the card base and then one on the small strip that was cut off.

4. The panel for the stamped section is cut to your desired width you like. My piece measures 10.5cm by 6cm (or about 5.5″ x 3″). Stamp your image you like. This is then matted on a slightly larger card piece 6.4cm x 10.5cm (5.5″ x 3 1/4″). I used Daffodil Delight for this. Then I matted this on to another card piece slightly larger again 6.8cm x 10.5cm (5.5″ x 3 1/2). I used Marina Mist for this piece.

5. The first strip you cut off from the base that you set aside lie that down on your card base so the bottom of the strip aligns with the bottom of the back of the card base. You won’t glue this down. Position your stamped piece that you have completed which has been adhered to the coloured card mats. This will be positioned to the left of the card base so the bottom edge lines up with the bottom edge of the card base and the top edge lines up with the top edge of the card base. To adhere this piece you will put adhesive on the back of this stamped panel ONLY at the top and on the bottom.

6.  To stamp the Panda in the right position on the inside, lay your Whisper White card mat in place inside.  Then mark where the right hand side edge of the panel is in either pencil or just by noting the placement, then open the card base and stamp your Panda in the right place.  I will be honest it did take a couple of attempts to get it right as I wanted the Panda to be peeking in the right place.  Don’t worry I used those “duds” for other cards which I will share at a later date.

7.  Colour your images with markers and add additional stamping where required.  For the balloon, I stamped it separately on Daffodil Delight scrap card.  Then I cut the balloon and raised it up off the card with Dimensionals.

This is the stamp set Party Pandas if you hadn’t seen it.  Isn’t it just the cutest?? AND you can get it for Free with a qualifying order – which is a minimum order of $90.

If you are in Australia and don’t have a current Demonstrator you can order in my store now -> HERE.  Please use the Host Code: 3CH4MBHU

Thanks for stopping by.  I still have more Panda cards to come.

Have a great weekend,

Jenny
