FACETED BOX FOR THE MENFOLK!!

A few weeks ago I saw a cute Faceted box on a Facebook group I am on.  Of course, one must have a go at one of these!  I thought I would show you my version.  Then I will show you where to go to make your own.

I thought for this it would be good to make a male version.

P1160084            P1160082

I have used Night of Navy and Crumb Cake cardstock and used a new stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue ‘Guy Greetings’. This is a good one to tuck some chocolates in for the males in your family.  They are always the ones that are hard to make for aren’t they!

What do you think??  I thought at first it would be really hard to make with all those angled sides, but it was really easy once you got the scoring and cutting right.

Do you want to make your own?? My lovely friend Sam created this box {waving HI SAM] 🙂 Here is the You tube link for you to make it.  Really it is not hard so don’t be scared off by all those angled sides.

Now the funny thing after Sam posted this tutorial things went a little crazy and little Faceted boxes were streaming onto our group page.  So fun to see all the versions.  You can check them out on Sam’s page.  She posted them to show how crazy things were. HERE THEY ARE!

So now go and check the Youtube video out and make your own version.  Why not send me a photo of your version and I can share it with Sam.  🙂

Happy Stamping,

Jenny

MORE BLACKBERRY BLISS + CRAZY ABOUT YOU!

I shared some cards in the last post made with Blackberry Bliss and Crazy About You.  I decided to create some more the other day while I still had everything out.

This first one was CASED from Pinterest by Melissa Davies.  I love the simple one layer nature of it. (Apologies for the poor lighting.  The weather has been rainy and overcast most of this week).

P1150847

The leaves are stamped in Pear Pizzazz.  See the flower?? I have stamped the flower 3 times and layered them.  The first flower was punched with the Medallion Flower Punch.  The 2nd and 3rd ones I cut the flowers down smaller following the lines of the flowers.  One smaller than the next. I added a Baker’s Twine bow to the centre with glue dots.

P1150854

The second card was CASED from Pinterest also but I don’t know who the original creator was I am sorry.  The card base is Pear Pizzazz and has a Blackberry Bliss mat.  The flowers were stamped twice directly on the Whisper White card with Pear Pizzazz leaves.  I stamped another flower on scrap white card and punched this out and raised this one up with the mounting tape.  Just a tip for stamping the leaves particularly the one under the raised flower.  I placed the flower on the card and I could then see the best position for the leaves. Another white twine bow was added to the centre.  I added a little butterfly punched from Blackberry Bliss using the Itty Bitty Butterfly punch.  A little bling is always nice to finish the card off!

NEW YEAR CREATING WITH BUTTERFLY BASICS!

Happy New Year to you all.  I hope you have had a lovely Christmas and New Year celebrations. We had a really nice family time.  I love these special moments.  I have been in my craft room the past week though.  I can’t keep away.  I have a number of projects to share with you over the next week. It has been so nice to ink up some new stamps.  Today I thought I would show you a little gift box I have just made.  This is using the new Bundle ‘Butterfly Basics’.

P1150789       P1150788

I have used Coastal Cabana.  I cut a butterfly from the butterfly Dies from Whisper White and one from the silver foil sheets.  (Read below for some tips for cutting out these little intricate dies). I sponged around the edge of the white butterfly in Coastal Cabana.  The strip under the butterfly is vellum which I have embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and then flagged the ends.  The little postage stamp is heat embossed with silver embossing powder.  I added a strip of Rhinestones to the centre of the butterflies for some bling.

For the box I recreated the little box I showed in a post some time back.  You can find all the details HERE.

BUTTERFLY DIES CUTTING TIPS

These butterfly dies are very intricate and like similar ones you might have a few problems cutting them out.  I thought I would share my tips in cutting them to have a nice clean cut.

1. Use baking paper between your die and cardstock. You may have to also add a scrap piece of copy paper to aid the cutting further. So lay your card down on the bottom Big Shot cutting plate, place a piece of baking paper over the card, top with your die face down then add the scrap piece of copy paper. Place the top cutting plate over it.

2.  When running through your Big Shot you might want to run back and forth a few times.  I found I needed to run it through about 6 times.

I had several attempts playing around with this die to cut well.  After some frustrations (and maybe some mumblings under my breath!), I found this to be the best result.  The butterfly lifted almost cleanly off the die.  I just used the Paper Piercer to start popping it in the holes and lift it slightly and then it would lift off quite easily.  See how you go trying this but do persevere as it is such a beautiful die and combines so lovely with the Butterfly Basics stamp set.

I look forward to sharing more projects with you so stop by again soon,

Jenny

TAG BOX TUTORIAL!

Yesterday I showed you the projects I made for the Stamp-A-Latte Blog Hop using the Snowflake Thinlets.  If you missed it just head back to the post before.  I didn’t have time in that post to show you how I made the Tag Box so I thought I would show you that today.

Here is the cute box to show you again.

P1140518

Here is inside the box showing the tags I made too.  The green strip of DSP from the Nordic Noel DSP is not a Belly Band.  I just added it to the top of the acetate and adhered the ends inside the lid.

P1140519

You can decorate this however you want to.  The finished size is 9cm x 9cm x 2cm (3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ x 3/4″). But how did I make it?? Here is the Tutorial for you.

TAG BOX

For the Base

NB: If you intend to stamp your box then do so before you assemble the box!!

Cut your card to 13cm x 13cm ( 5 1/8″ x 5 1/8″).  Score on each side at 2cm (3/4″).

Fold on all score lines and cut up the 2 tabs on one side and again on the opposite side.

P1140461

Place adhesive on the small tabs and assemble the box.

For the Lid

Cut your Acetate to 13.4cm x 13.4cm (5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″) and score at 2.2cm (7/8″).

Fold on all the score lines.  You may want to use the Bone Folder to burnish (press down) the score lines more.

Cut up on the 2 tabs on one side and then again on the opposite side.  Place adhesive on the tabs and adhere together.  I used Fast Fuse or you could use Sticky Strip.

This lid is a little snug.  You just need to jiggle it in but it works fine.

Decorate your box as you like.  I lined the base of this box.  The paper size I used was 8.5cm x 8.5cm (3 3/8″ x 3 3/8″).

These fit the tags in just nicely.  The tags are punched with the 1 3/4″ circle punch.

Don’t just think of them for tags though.  Why not add some chocolates???

P1140522

Enjoy making them. 🙂

Jenny
