STARLIGHT EMBOSS RESIST CARD!

This is the 2nd project from my Christmas in July Online event that I thought I would share with you.

This card uses the Emboss Resist Technique.  Heat embossing itself is such a magical technique but add the ink to it and you get a WOW! effect – I think anyway.

Here is the card. I have used the Star of Light Stamp set and the Starlight Thinlits. I have a video below for you to check it out yourself.

Thanks for visiting and checking it out.  Be sure to subscribe to my Youtube channel so you get regular updates as I start venturing in to this world.  I would appreciate your feedback too for this Youtube novice. 🙂

STARLIGHT CHRISTMAS HANGER!

Last night I had my Online Christmas in July class.  You might have seen it advertised.  I thought I would show you the projects.  I won’t normally do that but I thought since I am celebrating Christmas in July this month – why not!!

In both projects I used the Star of Light stamp set and the Starlight Thinlits.  This first project is a Christmas Hanger that you could maybe hang from a window or in the house somewhere, even in the tree!  I have the photos and I have added a video further below. Go and check it out!

Here are a few close-ups for you to see.

Isn’t this saying beautiful.

This is the back of the sentiment.  It’s good to have things on the back for when it spins around.

Just to show you how I attached the ribbon.  I added some Fast Fuse Adhesive to the back of the star.  Then looped over some Gold Taffeta Ribbon and stuck that down to it.

Add the Fast Fuse to the back of each star.  You can loop around some Gold Thread and stick that down too.

If you would like to see this more close-up check the video out.

I think some different colour variations are in order.

I will post the other project tomorrow.

Thanks for looking,

Jenny

STAMPIN’ DREAMS BLOG HOP – CASE THE CATALOGUE!

Today I am taking part in the Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop where the theme is CASE THE CATALOGUE.  I have to say first off I am a little excited to be a part of this Blog Hop, but I am a little daunted too. Have you seen the amazing line up in this Hop??  WOW!  How exciting to be a part of it! I hope you enjoy our little hop.

You would have just done a BIG jump from the US from the lovely Debbie Henderson’s blog HERE or just starting out on my blog.

Now CASE THE CATALOGUE.  Do you realise how many gorgeous projects are in this catalogue?  Where do you start?

I decided since I am focusing on Christmas in July this month I will CASE one from the Christmas section.  I chose the card in the top right on P 118.

This is my card.

I created the card on a Thick Whisper White base.  The Designer Series Paper is from the Delightful Daisy pack.  The colour in this pack is actually Old Olive but I think the Pear Pizzazz that I used goes well with the lighter colourings in the paper.  I used the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set and the Holly Berry Builder Punch. This is a great stamp set if you don’t like colouring.  It is a 2 step one so it has the outline and the solid stamp to in-fill.  Adds colour so easily.  🙂

To stamp the wreath it is easier if you draw a circle in pencil on to your card first.  I traced around one of the Layering Circle Framelits and then you can stamp up your image around it. It is easy to see being in Photopolymer. Then just erase your pencil circle out. You can add the red berries in after.

The sentiment is stamped on a Pear Pizzazz card strip and then I flagged the ends.  I stamped and punched out the holly and check out the large red berries.  I am not sure if you can see in the photo below but I went over the berries with the Fine Tip Adhesive and left it to dry.  This adds a little shine to your berries.

The catalogue is a great resource for inspiration.  I always forget to look at it when I am stuck. What about you?  We should turn to it more often. 🙂

Now to continue the Hop you are off to Carolina’s blog HERE. Thanks for visiting me.

A GRUNGE 21ST BIRTHDAY CARD!

It’s my gorgeous boy’s 21st Birthday today. It’s crazy to think it is here. I have been feeling a little emotional this past week. It seems not that long ago he was a preschooler.  I am  proud of him but also very Thankful for the young man he is but still I don’t like it when they seem to grow up way too quickly. 😦

Anyway, I thought you might like to see the card I made him. This is with a retired set Grunge Rock. It’s a great set for those boys cards.

The numbers from the Large Numbers Thinlits were cut from Copper Foil Sheets.  The card mat and some stamping is Dapper Denim. The background dots are from Timeless Textures set and stamped in Soft Suede. This colour is a good match with the Copper.

The circle image is stamped in Soft Suede on scrap white card and punched out with the 1 3/8″ circle punch. It is raised up with Dimensionals after I added a few loops of Copper thread.

Although this is a retired set perhaps it would give you some inspiration for those masculine cards you need to do.

Jenny

IT’S ALL WEDDINGS!

Last week I had a big week making wedding cards.  I had 8 to make all up.  Two were for a family wedding last week and one for a family friend and then Josh has 5 weddings coming up.  Yes, 5!

So I thought I would share them with you.  The lighting is not great for these.  Sorry but I hope it gives you a good idea.

This first one uses the retired Bundle of Love DSP. I had a small piece left which I thought would work a treat AND one last little embellishment.  The card base is Sahara Sand.  The sentiment is from Rose Wonder.  The ribbon is the Very Vanilla Satin ribbon retired also. I cut a leaf spray in Sahara Sand and in Vellum. This was for our nephew’s wedding.

This one I made for my Mother In Law to give our nephew (her grandson) as she was unwell to make a card.  The hearts are from Sunshine Wishes cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and Rich Razzleberry card. The sentiment and the little swirly flourishes are from Floral Phrases.  The main colour is Rich Razzleberry and I used some Rich Razzleberry Cotton ribbon (retired).

I made a couple of these ones below in Sweet Sugarplum using Sunshine Wishes and Floral Phrases again. This time the sentiment is from Rose Wonder.  I have used the retired Sweet Sugarplum Ruched Ribbon.

These next 2 I made the same.  I made 2 in Island Indigo and 2 in Crumb Cake. These cards were inspired by an idea on Pinterest.

To create this card:

I cut the flower (from the Rose Garden Thinlits) from the Whisper White card and then embossed it with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder. This piece was adhered to the card mat (Crumb Cake or Island Indigo.  Then I adhered the Die cut flower on to the card and adhered the whole piece to the Thick Whisper White card base.  I cut a leaf spray from Crumb Cake (or Island Indigo) and also with Vellum.  The sentiment is from Rose Wonder set.   On these I added a little bow with either the White  Baker’s Twine or Linen Thread.

Perhaps Linen Thread is not considered very elegant for weddings but based on a number of the invitations that Josh has received they are quite often very rustic in the crumb cake colour or with doilies and/or tied up with twine. So I think these were well suited.

Hope they inspire you for your next wedding cards.  These will get me by for a couple of months!!

Have a great day,

Jenny

RAK CARD SWAP!

I recently took part in a card swap with Demonstrators around Australia.  There were several groups.  I thought I would share the card swaps I received.  This was for the RAK card swap (Random Acts of Kindness Facebook group).

Firstly, this is the card I created.  This was a card I made several weeks ago using the Eastern Palace Suite so I thought that I would make these.  You can see the post for this card HERE.

So these are the cards I received in return.

Aren’t they great?? 🙂 Perhaps these might inspire you in one of your creating endeavours.

A TOUGH ONE FOR COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS #12!

I have missed the Colour Inkspirations Challenges the last couple of weeks.  I thought I would steal a bit of time to join in this round.  I have to say though this was tough!  So many colours!! Here is the image.  We were required to use at least 4 colours but neutrals can be added.   I usually only use 2-3 colours on my projects.  After that it gets confusing.  But it is good to challenge oneself. 🙂

Here is the colour inspiration to use.

What do you think??

To start with before tackling the card I pulled out all the inkpads in those colours to see what worked together.  Then pulled out all my stamp sets that might be suitable.  Then picked out the stamp sets from those that I might like to use.  I did a little search on Pinterest to get some ideas. I hadn’t used the Watercolor Wings set for a while so thought that might be good.

Where to go then?  I went through my sketches board on Pinterest and found this sketch to work with, Freshly Made Sketches #291.

Here is my card for Colour Inkspirations #12.  I chose Night of Navy, Flirty Flamingo, Smoky Slate and Peekaboo Peach.

I stamped the sketchy butterflies in the different cards over a white panel and then cut about 3cm off the top (about 1 1/4″).  Then adhered that to a Peekabook card mat and then the Whisper White card base.

I stamped the butterfly in Peekaboo Peach with 2 of the different stamps in the set.  The outline image of the butterfly was heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.  Plus stamped the black abdomen of the butterfly. It’s hard to tell but I did cut another butterfly out with Vellum to add behind this one and then added some Silver Thread.

The sentiment was punched out with the Duet Banner Punch and then another one punched from Silver Foil and they were layered together.  I added some Silver Thread to that too.  It needed something else so then I added some Rhinestones.

I am still not sure about this?? I think it is missing something but … it is what it is!  I don’t have time to make another card for the challenge.   What do you think??

Thanks for visiting.

Have a great day,

Jenny
