WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #59 – REDUCING THE SIZE OF DIECUTS!

Today for Wednesday’s WOW! #59 I want to share a little trick I discovered yesterday. Well it is not necessary a new discovery but new to me and it might be new to you.  Today I want to share with you how to reduce the size of your Framelits especially your shapes like the Rectangles Stitched Framelits.

Do you sometimes have an image or a sentiment that is just slightly different size to what your current Framelits sizes can cut? It happens occasionally and it can be annoying.  Yesterday when I was making the card I will share below I wanted a smaller square to fit the sentiment.  So … I cut it down. Let me show you.

HOW TO REDUCE THE SIZE OF YOUR DIECUT SHAPES

Cut your piece of card with one of the Framelits Dies that is close to what you need. Then position your Framelits die over the cut piece of card to make it the size you want.  You will find the card will slip in to the die snugly.  Just check it out underneath to be sure.  (See below for the position of the die).

Diecut the card out and you have the smaller diecut you need.

Note: I hadn’t stamped this piece of card as this was just as a sample to show you.  It is a good idea to stamp before you cut so you know the exact size needed.

Below is the card I used the smaller diecut on.  I found that any other size and even a square in the Stitched Shapes Framelits was still not the right size.  That’s ok.  I could make a custom sized one.

For this card I stamped the image from By The Bay Sale-A-Bration set on to Grapefruit Grove Foil sheet.  Be sure to use Stazon when stamping to avoid smudging of the image. This stamp set By The Bay is a free choice for Sale-A-Bration.  The Foil Sheets were too but sadly have run out.

For the sentiment I daubered White Shimmer Paint on to the stamp and stamped it on black card.  Call me lazy.  I couldn’t be bothered getting my Heat Tool out and emboss it. 🙂

Don’t you like the colour with this card when the light hits the foil?  It’s like a rainbow.  Just a tip I found when making this card.  Don’t use Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive on the back of the Foil.  You can see the marks from it. At least you can’t see it in this photo. 🙂

Thanks for visiting.

Have you put your order in yet and received your choice of Sale-A-Bration set?? There are only a few weeks left so you better get on it.

FOREVER LOVELY ONSTAGE CARD!

I realised I hadn’t shown you this card.  This was one of the Make and Take cards from Onstage last November.  I know it’s a long time ago BUT I have only recently completed it.  🙂  You might have seen some versions around the internet.

This card is using the Forever Lovely set from the Occasions Catalogue.  I don’t have this set so it is nice to have a card using it.  The Lovely Flowers Edgelits Dies are very detailed and decorative. I have used one of the little flower dies on this.

The paper banner strip is from the All My Love Designer Series Paper and the ribbon is the Lovely Lipstick from the All My Love Ribbon Combo pack.  The pearls give a little elegance to it.  I liked how one of the flower images and the leaves were stamped on the background of the Crumb Cake Card base.

Thanks for looking.  I hope your weekend is good. 🙂

CO-ORDINATING PRODUCTS

If you have loved some of the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets you can now order the co-ordinating dies to go with it.  Saves you all the time cutting them out with scissors.  Who has the time for that! Especially the details in the Lasting Lily set and the So Hoppy Together set.  Too fiddly!

There is also the new Story Label Punch that will work with many of your current sentiments stamps.

This is just one example below.  I will share more of them later.

See how the Lasting Lily card is so pretty with the added Dimension with the layers raised up.  Would you cut this out with scissors??

(project courtesy Stampin’ Up!)

Lasting Lily stamp set and the Lily Framelits Dies makes it so much easier.  The Framelits are $48 AUS

HIGHLAND HEATHER – INCREDIBLE LIKE YOU!

I am going to share this card with you. To be honest I am not overly happy with it. I think it’s the stamped flowers?? They don’t look right. I have trouble with stamp sets that have small images in it that you stamp together to make an image.  I like to stamp one or 2 stamps and you are done.  So this was outside my comfort zone.  Anyway, I am sharing it with you.  You can like it or not but maybe it will inspire you to create something … 😉

The paper is from the Sale-A-Bration Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper and also there is the lovely Organdy Ribbon.  Sad that this is finished with.

There is not much more I need to say about the card.  It is easy to copy if you are up for it.  If this inspires you in some way I would love to see your version.  Do email me at jghayward@yahoo.com

The Incredible Like You set is a very versatile set.  Lots of ways to use these stamps.  How would you use them?

This set is available in my store -> HERE for $28 AUS.  Please use the Host Code: TTBQMGUT It has been quite popular actually.  You can grab it for yourself.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #58 – WHICH INK TO USE?

I have had a number of people asking me recently which ink should they use when they are doing some of the different techniques.  I was putting together a chart to share with them.  Then this chart appeared in our Stampin’ Up! emails just today so I adapted it to share with them – and to you too as I am sure you ask yourself that same question.

So for Wednesday’s WOW! #58 today let’s look at the basic inks and see what inks to use.

TIP: If you are on your phone or even on a Tablet this table might be hard to read.  Save it to your device and then you can expand it.

In Australia? You can get any of these inks and more at my store -> HERE. Please use the HOST CODE: TTBQMGUT

Thank you for choosing me to order from.  Be sure to mark your address down so I can send you out a card and small gift.

So I hope that is helpful for you.  PIN the table so you can refer back to it time and time again.

Thanks for visiting me today for another Wednesday’s WOW!

CRAFT ALIVE TREATS!

Last post I showed you some photos of Craft Alive the show we attended a few weeks ago.  If you missed that post with some of the highlights then head back a post.

Today I want to show you some little treats I created.

First off I made these little Easel calendars for the 3 other ladies on our show team.  I invited each of them on this crazy ride with me and wanted to give them a gift.  I made this for their little gift pack to say Thank You to them.

These were so easy to make.  Without giving you specific measurements I will tell you how they are made so they can work for metric or imperial measurements.

MAKE YOUR OWN EASEL CALENDARS

Take a sheet of card and cut it in half vertically.  Put one half aside. With the other length you have, score the piece in half. Then score one of the sections in half again.  Then fold on the score lines.  Fold it firstly in at the half way line, then fold the other score line inwards. The larger section is the base part.  The smaller equal sections are folded.  Does that make sense?

You will also need an additional card piece that can be adhered on to the front.  This piece is the same width as the card and you can make it any height.  I made it the same height as the base length.  In other words, the other piece of cardstock you put aside at the beginning, cut that in half and it will be the right length.  I hope that all makes sense.  Really it is the idea of it.  The actual measurements are entirely up to you.  Decorate as you like.  I had pieces of the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper that I decorated the front with and a butterfly from the Butterfly Gala stamp set.

I also needed to make some tags up for the prize gifts.  Stampin’ Up! were very generous in donating a box full of retired products.  We made up so many prize packs and gave away several per day.

I have one of each colour of the tags I made using the lovely Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper and the Amazing Life stamp set.

I hope you like these.  I think everyone who received one loved the tag…. or maybe it was all the lovely Stampin’ Up! products they received.  They were very excited anyway.

Thanks for visiting me again today,

Jenny

CRAFT ALIVE RECAP!

2 Weeks ago I joined 3 other Demonstrators to hold a booth at the Craft Alive show in Penrith.  This is a HUGE craft show that travels to regional centres on the Eastern states of Australia.  Over the 3 day weekend over 5000 people visited the show.  We spoke to lots and lots of people.  They enjoyed making a card with us and seeing the display we had put together.  I thought I would share some of it with you.

This is the full view of our display.  There was lots of inspiration for everyone to see.

This display certainly showcased the How Sweet It is Suite.

Butterflies are always popular and these ones are with the Butterfly Gala stamp set and Punch and teamed with the lovely Gingham Gala Paper.

Lovely samples with some of the Sale-A-Bration products.

This is our team.  Donna Williams on the left, Di Barnes, Sarah Crittenden (one of my team members) and Me.  We had such a fun time together.  It was months of hard work and discussion and preparing but it all came together well.

Donna and I joined in Craft Chat Sessions each day.  Our topic was the Time Poor Crafter.  We were sharing tips on our to make the most of your craft time.

Thanks for indulging me in sharing this.  Thank You to Donna, Di and Sarah for sharing the fun venture and Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand.  It was such a great time.

STAMPING AROUND THE WORLD FEBRUARY BLOG HOP!

Welcome to the Stamping Around the World Blog Hop.  The team brings you the Free Tutorials each month and we have decided to join in a Blog Hop to share more creations just for you.  You will travel all over the world in this hop.  Each of us are using the same stamp set that we used in our Tutorial projects. So I hope you enjoy the Hop.

You would have come from Margriet’s Blog HERE or just starting from mine here. Either way you can follow along with us.

For my project this month I have used the Incredible Like You set.  For today’s project I created a Panel card using this set.  I have the instructions below so if you want to make your own you can.  This card was hard to take photos of so I hope you get the idea.

Front on.

The front of the card is cut shorter with the panel overhanging.

The butterfly is from Butterfly Gala coloured with the Stampin’ Blends. I just happened to have this finished butterfly on my desk left over from a previous project that I didn’t end up using. It worked well I think.

I added the Glitter Gems for a little sparkle.  The paper is from the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration.  (This paper is in low supply so you if you want it you better grab this one soon). The Organdy Ribbon is already gone sorry.

The inside.

The sentiment is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous.

MAKE YOUR OWN PANEL CARD

I have the measurements for you in Metric and Imperial.

METRIC (apologies in advance for the odd measurements but this is what I started with on my white stamped piece and went from there.  The panel can be made in any size to suit)

CARD

Base Card (Highland Heather) – 14.8cm x 21cm scored at 10.5cm.  Trim off 3cm on the front.

Card Mat (Lemon Lime Twist) – 14.4cm x 7cm

Paper – 14cm x 6.6cm

Inside Piece (Whisper White) – 14.4cm x 10.1cm

FRONT PANEL

Mat (Highland Heather) – 9.5cm x 7.2cm

Mat (Lemon Lime Twist) – 9.1cm x 6.8cm

Stamped Piece (Whisper White) – 8.7cm x 6.4cm

IMPERIAL (for the mat pieces I have reduced them by 1/4″.  You may wish to reduce them more to suit you)

CARD

Base Card (Highland Heather) – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″scored at 4 1/4″.  Trim off 1 1/2″ on the front.

Card Mat (Lemon Lime Twist) – 5 3/8″ x 2 7/8″

Paper – 5 1/4″ x 2 3/4″

Inside Piece (Whisper White) – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″

FRONT PANEL

Mat (Highland Heather) – 3 3/4″ x 2 3/4″

Mat (Lemon Lime Twist) – 3 5/8″ x 2 5/8″

Stamped Piece (Whisper White) – 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″

STAMPED FLOWER

Now if you notice the flower on the front there isn’t actually a stamp for that.  I created that using some of the images in the set.  The “dot” for the centre and the “petals” for the leaf.  This is how you can build your flower up.  I hope it is clear enough.

1. First stamp the “dot” on your card.  I used So Saffron.  Use the leaf shape to build your petals of your flower.

2. Stamp around the circle spacing them evenly apart.

3.  Go back around the circle stamping in the spaces.

4. You have your finished flower.  I added some Wink of Stella in the centre of the flower but it didn’t show up too well on the card photo.

The Incredible Like You set is in my store now -> HERE.  $28 Aus. It has been very popular at all the events I have done recently.  Everyone loves how versatile it is and the sentiments are lovely.

There is only one week left for the February Tutorial Bundle.  The bundle contains 10 exclusive projects from Demonstrators around the world. Receive it Free with your orders over $78 AUS.  This will be emailed out to you after you order.

OR you can purchase the Tutorials for $20 AUS. You won’t be disappointed.  People have said to me how gorgeous the projects are.  (and they are!). 🙂

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! – #57 PAINTED SEASONS!

In a previous post a few days ago I told you about the new Sale-A-Bration choices now available.  I mentioned very briefly about the gorgeous new Painted Seasons Bundle. Today for Wednesday’s WOW! #57 I thought we would have a little more look at it.  I have just started playing with it.

The gorgeous Painted Seasons Designer Series Paper is so pretty.  It’s really hard to see it clearly online.  The lovely Painted Seasons stamp set has a number of flower and leaf images to build your project.  You can add any sentiment set you like to it to create a card for any occasion you like.  I think this set would be great for the pretty feminine cards, the hard-to-make masculine cards and even Christmas. What a versatile set.

Here is a video from Stampin’ Up! to give you a closer look.

What do you think?

Here are the samples she shared in this video.  It was hard to catch them clearly.
