cards, Stampin' Up!

IT’S ALL WEDDINGS!

Last week I had a big week making wedding cards.  I had 8 to make all up.  Two were for a family wedding last week and one for a family friend and then Josh has 5 weddings coming up.  Yes, 5!

So I thought I would share them with you.  The lighting is not great for these.  Sorry but I hope it gives you a good idea.

This first one uses the retired Bundle of Love DSP. I had a small piece left which I thought would work a treat AND one last little embellishment.  The card base is Sahara Sand.  The sentiment is from Rose Wonder.  The ribbon is the Very Vanilla Satin ribbon retired also. I cut a leaf spray in Sahara Sand and in Vellum. This was for our nephew’s wedding.

This one I made for my Mother In Law to give our nephew (her grandson) as she was unwell to make a card.  The hearts are from Sunshine Wishes cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and Rich Razzleberry card. The sentiment and the little swirly flourishes are from Floral Phrases.  The main colour is Rich Razzleberry and I used some Rich Razzleberry Cotton ribbon (retired).

I made a couple of these ones below in Sweet Sugarplum using Sunshine Wishes and Floral Phrases again. This time the sentiment is from Rose Wonder.  I have used the retired Sweet Sugarplum Ruched Ribbon.

These next 2 I made the same.  I made 2 in Island Indigo and 2 in Crumb Cake. These cards were inspired by an idea on Pinterest.

To create this card:

I cut the flower (from the Rose Garden Thinlits) from the Whisper White card and then embossed it with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder. This piece was adhered to the card mat (Crumb Cake or Island Indigo.  Then I adhered the Die cut flower on to the card and adhered the whole piece to the Thick Whisper White card base.  I cut a leaf spray from Crumb Cake (or Island Indigo) and also with Vellum.  The sentiment is from Rose Wonder set.   On these I added a little bow with either the White  Baker’s Twine or Linen Thread.

Perhaps Linen Thread is not considered very elegant for weddings but based on a number of the invitations that Josh has received they are quite often very rustic in the crumb cake colour or with doilies and/or tied up with twine. So I think these were well suited.

Hope they inspire you for your next wedding cards.  These will get me by for a couple of months!!

Have a great day,

Jenny

RAK CARD SWAP!

I recently took part in a card swap with Demonstrators around Australia.  There were several groups.  I thought I would share the card swaps I received.  This was for the RAK card swap (Random Acts of Kindness Facebook group).

Firstly, this is the card I created.  This was a card I made several weeks ago using the Eastern Palace Suite so I thought that I would make these.  You can see the post for this card HERE.

So these are the cards I received in return.

Aren’t they great?? 🙂 Perhaps these might inspire you in one of your creating endeavours.

Thanks for looking,

Jenny

A TOUGH ONE FOR COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS #12!

I have missed the Colour Inkspirations Challenges the last couple of weeks.  I thought I would steal a bit of time to join in this round.  I have to say though this was tough!  So many colours!! Here is the image.  We were required to use at least 4 colours but neutrals can be added.   I usually only use 2-3 colours on my projects.  After that it gets confusing.  But it is good to challenge oneself. 🙂

Here is the colour inspiration to use.

What do you think??

To start with before tackling the card I pulled out all the inkpads in those colours to see what worked together.  Then pulled out all my stamp sets that might be suitable.  Then picked out the stamp sets from those that I might like to use.  I did a little search on Pinterest to get some ideas. I hadn’t used the Watercolor Wings set for a while so thought that might be good.

Where to go then?  I went through my sketches board on Pinterest and found this sketch to work with, Freshly Made Sketches #291.

Here is my card for Colour Inkspirations #12.  I chose Night of Navy, Flirty Flamingo, Smoky Slate and Peekaboo Peach.

I stamped the sketchy butterflies in the different cards over a white panel and then cut about 3cm off the top (about 1 1/4″).  Then adhered that to a Peekabook card mat and then the Whisper White card base.

I stamped the butterfly in Peekaboo Peach with 2 of the different stamps in the set.  The outline image of the butterfly was heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.  Plus stamped the black abdomen of the butterfly. It’s hard to tell but I did cut another butterfly out with Vellum to add behind this one and then added some Silver Thread.

The sentiment was punched out with the Duet Banner Punch and then another one punched from Silver Foil and they were layered together.  I added some Silver Thread to that too.  It needed something else so then I added some Rhinestones.

I am still not sure about this?? I think it is missing something but … it is what it is!  I don’t have time to make another card for the challenge.   What do you think??

Thanks for visiting.

Have a great day,

Jenny

USING THE ECLECTIC LAYERS THINLITS!

I have been sharing quite a few cards lately using the Oh! So Eclectic Bundle which includes the Oh! So Eclectic Stamp Set and the Eclectic Layers Thinlits.  (You can see them in the catalogue on p 133 and p213).

One thing with the Eclectic Layers Thinlits you may not realise is that some of the dies only emboss while others cut.  Some of the dies layer together to cut the outline and a detailed inside or you can use one on their own. It can be a little confusing  so I put together a little handy guide that is just the size to keep in the packet with the Thinlits so I can see at a glance.  I thought I would share that with you.

DIECUTTING AND EMBOSSING GUIDE WITH THE ECLECTIC LAYERS THINLITS

1) On the card on the left it shows some of the detailed shapes.  There are 2 different dies to create this shape; the outline die and a matching detailed die.  I find it easier to fit the detailed die inside the outline and cut them all together.  It is so much easier.  The outline die can be used on its own to cut the stamped image from the co-ordinating stamp set.

On this card too it show the dies that will create the dry embossed effect.   These dies will not cut.

2) On the card on the right it shows the diamond pattern.  I love the effect you get with this on cards.  Now if you are really patient you can cut sections of this diecut to create some other interesting shapes that you can add to your cards.  I am sure there are so many other combinations too.

In this Thinlits set there is also 2 leaf shapes you can cut to work with your flowers.

I hope that you might find this guide helpful.  Let me know what you think.

Hope your weekend is going awesome and you have time to steal away and create.

SOME MORE OH! SO ECLECTIC! YES IN BERRY BURST AGAIN. :)

These cards I wanted to share with you today are using Oh! So Eclectic and well, I have used Berry Burst again.  I will use a different colour soon I promise.  But it is such a lovely colour. 🙂

I held an event last Saturday with a group of ladies who mostly had never stamped before.  This first card I demonstrated to them to show the Big Shot.  They were so impressed – no scissors required!!

This card was inspired by one on Pinterest.  I love the Diamond pattern you can diecut in your cards.  It just adds something else to the card.

How to make it:

Firstly, stamp 2 of the detailed flowers on scrap Whisper White card in Berry Burst.  Then overstamp this with the solid full flower stamp in Powder pink.  The great thing is it doesn’t even have to be a perfect fit as it just adds a little colour.  Cut this with the flower Framelit shape in the Eclectic Layers Thinlits.

For the other flower, stamp the Solid full flower stamp in Berry Burst on scrap Whisper White and cut that with the flower Framelit.  Also cut a flower in Berry Burst with the detailed die and the flower shape die.  I run them together in the Big Shot.  It is much easier doing it that way. You will also need to cut 2 leaves from Lemon Lime Twist Card.

Then it’s a matter of assembling it all together. You can raise the flowers up with Dimensionals. Don’t forget the bling. 🙂

This next card was the Make and Take card they all made.  There needed to be some gentle encouragement for some to make it as they were a little intimidated but they were so proud of themselves when it was done.

How to make it:

On a piece of Berry Burst card slightly smaller than your base card run it through your Big Shot with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder. This adds some lovely texture to your card.

On a piece of Whisper White, stamp the detailed flower stem stamp several times in Berry Burst. Then with the solid flower top stamp it in Powder Pink over the flowers.  Fill in some of the spaces on the white card with the little flowers stamped in Lemon Lime Twist.

When assembling the card, adhere a thin strip of Lemon Lime Twist under the right side edge of the White card.  Stamp the sentiment on to Powder Pink card and punch it out with the Duet Banner Punch. Sponged a little ink around the edge of the banner. Punch a second banner from Lemon Lime Twist card.  Adhere these together by off-setting them slightly.

Would you like to make these cards with me? If you’re local, let’s plan a date for us to share them with your friends. It would be a great excuse for you all to get together. Drop me an email or a comment.

Be back again soon,

Jenny

ECLECTIC HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

This card I am sharing today was my first play with the Oh! So Eclectic set last week.  I finally get to share it with you.

I have used Stylized Birthday with it for the sentiment.  I really don’t use this sentiment enough. It’s a great size without being overwhelming and I love the font.

I love this Oh So! Eclectic set too as you can stamp with the first stamp, overstamp it with the next one and if it is not lined up properly it doesn’t matter.  That’s the style.  🙂

The detailed flowers were first stamped with Berry Burst and then the solid image with Powder Pink.  Isn’t the washed out look nice?

The leaves are stamped with Lemon Lime Twist for the solid leaf and then Emerald Envy for the “hatched” leaf pattern.  I added some of the little “crossed” pattern in Powder Pink as a background filler.

It’s a very quick card to make a number of Birthday cards in a hurry.

Thanks for looking.  I will be back with some more cards with this set.

A 90TH OH SO ECLECTIC Z-FOLD!

It is my Mother-in-Law’s 90th birthday today.  We had a small family get together yesterday.  I thought I would show you the card I made for her.  She had put in a request for it to be in Berry Burst, her new favourite colour. The pressure was on as she expected a grand creation!   I hope it made the grade.  There were lots of Oohs! and WOW! so I think I might have made the grade. 🙂

I think this is my new favourite stamp set – Oh! So Eclectic!  I have made quite a few creations with this recently which I will get to show you soon.  The sentiment is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous.

This card took me about 1/2 hour to create as I have had so much going on this week. It’s the fun Square Z-fold Cards which I have made a standard one recently.  (See that HERE).  I will share all the instructions further below.

I wasn’t sure if diecutting the diamond pattern in the side would make it too flimsy but I thought I would try it.  It worked fine and gives it a little more WOW!  The Designer Series Paper is the Color Theory Paper Stack.

SQUARE Z-FOLD CARD

Original Z-fold card is from Amanda Bates HERE.  I have slightly different measurements so thought I would share them with you.  These are in Metric.  If you are wanting Imperial measurements then rather than me converting them and ending up with lots of “sixteenth” measurements, then head to Amanda’s blog post in that link and follow those directions.

There are 2 pieces to this card.

1. Card Base:

Cut card 14.8cm x 29.7cm.  Score on the long side at 7.4cm and 14.8cm.

Designer Series Paper:

Front Panel: 7cm x 14.4cm             Back Panel:  14.4cm x 14.4cm

2. Inner Card:

Cut card 10.5cm x 21cm.  Score on the long side at 5.2cm and 10.5cm.

Whisper White Card:

Front: 10.1cm x 10.1cm         Back: 4.8cm x 10.1cm

To Assemble your Card

1. Take your Inner Card piece and cut the Diamond pattern from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits set on your middle panel.

2. Stamp your Whisper White card pieces as you like.  I have used the Oh! So Eclectic stamp set.  Adhere these to the Inner Card piece.

3. Adhere your Designer Series Paper Pieces to the Card base.

4. Take your Inner card piece and on the front panel section (left hand end), place adhesive on ONLY HALF of the panel at the back.  Place that in position on your card base.  ** I used the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive as this gives you a little time to wiggle the piece around in place if need be.

5Then on the  Right Hand end of the Inner card piece, place adhesive at the back. Carefully fold up the card on the score lines as it should fold. Close the card and allow the piece to fall in to place where it should sit.  Once in position press firmly to adhere.

Hope this is easy to follow.  Please ask if you have any further questions.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jenny

GOING FOR THE ANGLE WITH DESIGNER SERIES PAPER! WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS??

I have been trying to mix things up a bit with my creating lately.  I think I am a little bored with the standard layering of card – on mat – on base, which it seems I do a lot.  I saw an idea on Pinterest to angle the Designer Series Paper.  So I thought I would have a try at it. The card I CASED you can see HERE.

I will show you my card BUT I am not greatly happy with it.  I think the angle is not right, or maybe the Designer Series Paper is too busy, or maybe it’s just the colours??? So I am going to put it out here anyway to show you and maybe you can tell me what you think.  It’s good to show you too that sometimes we all struggle with putting our cards together. 🙂

Here is the card anyway.

I really think I need to angle the paper more.  I kept adding to the card to see if it would help but I had to stop.

I have used the Delightful Daisy DSP. I cut the Happy Birthday Thinlits twice, once in Daffodil Delight and another in Tranquil Tide and offset them slightly.  I thought it was plain so I stamped some flowers from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous set and then added some bling.  I also added a doily underneath the white card to see if that helps BUT …

I think I will try this idea again shortly.  I will show you later how I get on but I appreciate your comments.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting me for the good, the bad and the ugly.  🙂
