POP UP EASEL CARD!

A customer called in last weekend and showed me a card she had made. She had gone to a class to do it.  (It wasn’t a Stampin’ Up! class and I don’t know who the original creator is). I loved the idea of the card so I had to make one. I had a little time to play around with it the other day. I call it a POP UP EASEL CARD. I used Confetti Celebration on mine.  I will show you the photos of the card (sorry, lots!) and then give you the instructions.

This is the front of the card.  The Rhinestones you see is what holds up the Easel part.  The balloons are suspended on strips of acetate in a folded crease.

Easel front

This is another view front on.  The Designer Series Paper is from the Playful Palette pack. The balloons are punched with the Balloon punch in Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo.  I sponged around the edges with the sponge and added a small star that from the stamp set.

Easel card

Side on view gives you an idea of the suspended balloons.  I punched 2 each of the balloons and adhered one to the front and back of the strip of acetate to keep it tidy.

You can see the side view and inside of the card with the sentiment that I will show you below.

Side view of Easel

The card can fold flat for postage.

folded inside

When it is folded flat it is a square card measuring approximately 15cm x 15cm (6″ x 6″) so you would need to make an envelope to fit but that is no problem with the Envelope Punch Board!

folded

This is inside of the card.  I continued with the sentiments from the Confetti Celebration set.

 inside

You can see when it is open that the balloons can fold flat against it.  This is a trick too. Whatever image or shape you have suspended in the front crease, you need to fold it against the inside of the card to test it out first before you put it together to be sure that it will fit below the score line for when it is folded flat.  You can’t have it squashed in. 🙂 Check the photo below to see what I mean. The balloons sit just below the score line.

Balloons lying flat

Now I will tell you how to make your own.

POP UP EASEL CARD

NB: I have included metric and imperial measurements.  For those following the Imperial measurements can you please just check these.  Maybe do a test run first. I am just concerned with all the “16th” measurements if they are correct.  🙂

What you will need:

Cardstock for base 14.8cm x 29.8cm (5 7/8″ x 11  3/4″).

Designer Series Paper 14.4cm x 7.6cm (5 7/8″ x 3″)

Whisper White card (inside piece) 14.4cm x 6.6cm (5 7/8″ x 2  3/4″)

Scrap card for your suspended images (Of your choice.  I have chosen balloons for this one).

Acetate strips 1 cm x 4-5cm (1/4″ x 1  1/2″-2″) You will trim these as you make the card depending on where you want your images to sit.

To construct your Easel:

1. On the long side score your card at 2cm, 3cm, 4cm, 5cm, 6cm, 13.8cm and 21.6cm.

(3/4″, 1  3/16″, 1  9/16″, 2″, 2  3/8″, 5  7/16″ and 8 1/2″)  – Please check the measurements.

2. Fold on all the score lines starting as I have shown in the photo in a concertina fashion creating a “M” shape at the beginning and then after folding it as a Valley fold on the next 2 score lines. (ie folding it up towards you). I haven’t shown those folded in this photo.

scored card

3. On the back of the card, place adhesive behind each side of “peak” that is formed. in the “M”. Adhere these together.  Check the photo below. (sorry if it is a little unclear).    This is it turned back to the correct side of the card.  It now becomes more a “V” shape which will be your crease for your acetate strips.

folded piece

4. After you have stamped and punched your images adhere them to the acetate strips. I used Fast Fuse to adhere them but you could use glue dots or other tape. I punched 2 balloons so adhered one to the back and one to the front of the acetate strip. Check the length of the acetate strip with the image to see if it is the right length BEFORE you adhere them in. 🙂 Trim the strip if necessary remembering you want to make sure they fit below the score line as I described above.

Place your adhesive (Fast Fuse or tape) along one edge inside the crease and adhere the acetate strips in place. Once in place then adhere the crease together. See the photo below.

Balloons suspended

5. Now you can create the front and the inside as you like.  I adhered the Designer Series Paper piece on the front.  The Whisper White piece I stamped and adhered inside.

I hope you can follow this.  Perhaps I need to start making videos. 🙂  If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask me.

FOLD FLAT CARDS!

How was your Christmas??  Our’s was a little quiet on the day but then celebrating with different family members for the last 3 days.  It’s all done now for another year.  I have packed up my Christmas stamps and cards and ready to move on to some different creating.  I haven’t had a lot of chance to create with the new products from the upcoming Occasions and Sale-A-Bration so I am looking forward to getting them inky.

I have had these projects for a while now and with all the excitement of the Holiday Catalogue they got put aside so I thought it was time to share these before we move on.  These are called Fold-Flat (or 3D) Cards.  You might have seen them around blogland.

This one below uses ‘Celebrate Today’ we made this in a class a few months ago.  The original instructions were from HERE. You can follow along in that post.  They are available in English too. I have used the ‘Bohemian’ DSP.  Edited to add: The Measurements for this are just below this card.  The smaller version is further below.

This is a side view.  This folds flat so you can post it.  I did find this quite large so later I made one smaller so it can fit in a standard size envelope.

LARGE FOLD FLAT CARD TUTORIAL

Large back panel: 15cm x 27cm (6″ x 10 5/8″) Score on the long side at 15cm, 18cm, 23cm, 26cm. (6″, 7″, 9″ and 10″)
Front panel: 8.5cm x 15cm (3 3/8″ x 6″)  Score on the long side at 1cm and 4cm. (1/2″ and 1 1/2″).
Fold each of the pieces.  The card for the back panel is folded up into a box shape and the small tab adhered on to the card.  Check the photos if you are unsure what I mean.
The Front panel piece is folded up.  The small tab is adhered to the back panel about 1/3 of the way down.  Then adhere the larger section on to the “box” shape formed from the back panel.
Decorate as you like.  The Paper pieces are 4mm or 1/8″ smaller for that section.

This smaller one uses the set ‘Something For Baby’.

P1170183

A side-view for you.

P1170182

On the back you can adhere some Whisper White card so you can add the message.

P1170184

I will share my measurements for the smaller one.  Putting it together is the same as the large one so you can follow along in the above link.  It is very simple though.  Just a matter of folding on the scored lines and adhering.  There is a little trick to adhering the front piece so I will tell you that further down.

FOLD FLAT CARDS (Smaller version).

Base: Cut card 10.5cm x 27cm. (4 1/8″ x 10 5/8″).  Score at 15cm, 18cm, 23cm and 26cm.  (6″, 7 1/8″, 9″ and 10 1/4″).

Designer Series Paper strips.    TOP PIECE – 10.1 cm x 9.6cm (4″ x 3 3/4″)                     BOTTOM PIECE – 10.1 cm x 4.6cm (4″ x 1  7/8″)

Back: Cut Whisper White 10.1cm x 14.6cm (4″ x 5 3/4″)

Front Panel: Cut Card 7.5cm x 15cm (3″ x 6″).  Score at 1cm and 4cm.  (1/2″ x 1 9/16 – I hope that measurement is right?? It doesn’t seem right)  🙂

Card Mat: Whisper White – 7.1cm x 10.6cm (2 3/4″ x 4 3/16″).

ASSEMBLING (If you are having trouble following this, head to the link I added above for photos.  I didn’t think I would repeat the photo steps).

For the Base piece.  Add Adhesive to the smaller tab (on the back as it is lying down on the table) and fold up to adhere to the front.  (I added the DSP first so I could line up the fold just below the DSP).

Fold the front Panel on the score lines.  Add adhesive to the small scored section at the top.  Before sticking down the tab fold this under carefully and line up the second score line with the top edge of the base card and then press down on the small tab to adhere this to the base card lower down.  If you are not sure then check the tutorial link above to see the image. Add adhesive to the back of the front panel and then adhere to the folded section of the base card near the bottom.

++

I hope this all makes sense.  I loved making these and since I had the instructions out still to share these with you I decided to make one of these cards using some new Sale-A-Bration products.   I will post that card next post so come and visit again.

SNOWY OWLS!

I made this cute card at our stamping weekend and I haven’t shown you yet.  Well actually I half made it and I had to finish it when I got home and that is probably why you haven’t seen it yet.  I get lots of comments about this card at my classes.  I CASED this from my friend Leonie who I think CASED it from Pinterest??  I will show you it then I will tell you about it.

P1170702

Does this have the cute factor??? This is using the Owl Punch.  The owl hat is from the ‘Snow Place’ Set and the antlers are cut with the ‘Snow Friends’ Framelits.  I drew the “santa Belt” with the white gel pen.  The greeting is from ‘Christmas Cuties’. The Moon is punched from a circle punch with a “bite” punched out with the circle punch again. I wanted to tell you about the background though and the card base.

Firstly for the card base I will give you the instructions but not the exact measurements  as you can make it any size you like really. The card base width is a standard size card (so metric – 14.8cm). The length is the length of your standard card (metric is A4).  Score the card length in equal thirds.  Score the right hand end section in half again.  So it is a bit like an odd-shaped “M” ??? Makes sense?? Yes!!!  🙂  On the back panel I cut another piece of white card to that size.  On this piece I stamped the “splodges” from ‘Gorgeous Grunge’ in versamark and heat embossed in White Embossing Powder.  I sponged over Soft Sky and Marina Mist and directly on the edges I sponged Night of Navy.  I adhered that piece on to the back panel.

For the front I cut another piece of white card to the size of the front. I tore across the top edge. Then masked sections with scrap paper to sponge “hills” on to the piece with Pool Party – I think? I sponged around the whole front piece with Pool Party too.

Lots of punching but lots of fun to put together.

Thanks for stopping by now.  I am off on holidays for 2 weeks. YAY! Don’t worry you won’t miss me too much.  I have some posts scheduled.

CRAZY ABOUT YOU JOY FOLD!

Just a quick post for you. Back to more projects from our Crafty Weekend. It has been some time since I have done this type of card. Here is this one for you.

P1170040

P1170041

I have used ‘Crazy About You’ stamp set and ‘Hello You’ Thinlets to make this card in Mint Macaron and Soft Suede.  This is a JOY FOLD card.  It is very easy to make.  It is a basic size card but cut your card vertically and score halfway. The front flap is cut in half.  Then a smaller folded card is adhered to the inside and they overlap when folding.  If that all makes sense??? You can find a tutorial to make your own on Splitcoaststampers HERE.  It was fun to make.  I must make another one again very soon.

Today I have been playing with some new toys from the upcoming Holiday Catalogue.  I will share them very soon.

Enjoy your day whatever you may do.

Come and visit again soon,

A SPECIAL BIRTHDAY!!

I can finally show you this card now.  I made this a couple of weeks ago for a lovely friend for her special birthday.  Happy Birthday Andrea xx  I won’t say how old she turned (although you can probably work that one out. Hehe!!).

This is fun card to  create once you work out the scoring and folding.  I found this idea and the template on Valita’s blog here.  I wanted it green and sparkly although I don’t own any glitter except for Dazzling Diamonds.  Is that bad??  The numbers were cut in Lucky Limeade with the ‘Timeless Type’ Die on the Big Shot.  I then used the 2-way glue pen over the numbers and sprinkled poured over the Dazzling Diamonds.  I used the fantastic Sale-A-Bration set ‘Elementary Elegance’.  I can’t believe there is only one week left to get your hands on this set.  Sale-A-Bration finishes on the 31st March. (Have you got your free Sale-A-Bration set yet?).  For the centre of the flourish I had used the centre of the stamp that comes from the middle of the flourish and stamped this in Crumb Cake on Very Vanilla card and then punched it out with the  Curvy Label Punch. I think I should have used Certainly Celery perhaps?  I wasn’t too happy with the result there when I looked at it after.  To finish I tied around some of the gorgeous Lucky Limeade Organdy ribbon (that you can choose for Free during Sale-A-Bration), and I added some more bling in the centre of the crown with a Rhinestone.

Today we celebrated Andrea’s Birthday by going out to lunch.  It was planned for a couple of weeks ago for her Birthday but the weather played havoc with those plans.

Here we are:  At the back is the Birthday Girl Andrea and Tracey.  In front is Leonie N. and me!!  We had a lovely time: lots of laughs, good food and great company.  Thanks my lovely friends xxx (Thanks for the photo Tracey).

I still have lots of Sale-A-Bration cards to show you.  So stop by again very soon.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

Just wanted to stop by and wish all the Mum’s a Very Happy Mother’s Day.  I hope you get spoilt and can put your feet up for a bit.  Wouldn’t it be good to indulge in some stamping??  I don’t think I will get time for that!

glitter-graphics.com

I thought I would show you a Mother’s Day Card just for you.  This is a card we made at a fun workshop I did today.  My lovely hostess Deb wanted a Fun Fold Mother’s Day card.  You can find the instructions for making these on the Cupcake Fold post just down below a little.

This is using the set “Just Believe”.  Not that’s the way I had planned it but silly me forgot to take the stamp set – didn’t I!!  Never fear we are adaptable!  I had the set “Cottage Garden” (which is one of the Deals of the Week specials this week by the way!) and we used that.  I have to say these cards turned out fantastic.  I did take photos with my camera and at the moment I am having trouble uploading them so I will see how I go later.

So, have a lovely day MUM’s.

ANOTHER FUN-FOLD!!!

I showed you the Cupcake Fun Fold the other day.  I love doing these cards and I wanted to do another one.  This time I used the “Just Believe” stamp set.

I used Crumb Cake and Marina Mist.  The DSP is from the Subtles Paper Pack and I added Marina Mist Satin ribbon to finish it off.  For the text I stamped ‘friends’ in Marina Mist.  Then inked up the flowers from around the text box in the set in Crumb Cake and stamped off on scrap paper.  This lightens the ink slightly. I then stamped this around the ‘friends’.  It was punched out with the small oval and sponged around with Crumb Cake ink.  This was mounted on 2 Crumb Cake ovals layered together, and then a larger oval in Marina Mist.  I added 2 adhesive pearls for a touch of elegance!!

Hope you like??? 🙂

That’s it for me today.  I have had 2 Kids Punch Art classes today and I am beat.  I am so behind in my projects to show you, but they will keep for another day.  Thanks for stopping by.  See you again soon.

CUPCAKES FUN-FOLD!

Recently on my blurfing I came across this great card by Kelly. I love the different fold to it. Kelly has the template for it there. This template is in imperial.  I adjusted the template to suit our A4 card size. I will give you the instructions for it below. But first I should show you my card.

I have used the fun new set ‘Create A Cupcake’ in the Autumn/Winter Mini.   You can’t see it very well but I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the pink iced cupcake – and note, the choc-dipped cherry!!!  It’s all very yummy!  The paper is from the Subtles DSP paper pack.  These packs are such great value.

To get a better idea of the fold I can show you a side-view.

This is quite easy once you get a hang of the cutting and folding.  I have a template to show you and I will explain it below.

Create your own Side Stepper Card.

If you are wanting imperial measurements head to the top of the post and head to the link for Kelly’s card.

Cut card 29.5cmx10.5cm.  It is easy cutting and scoring  this straight on your paper cutter if you have one, or else use a ruler and pencil to mark in your lines.  On the 10.5cm side line up your card at the 2cm mark on your cutter and then go down to 12.2cm on the ruler of your cutter – not cutting this!!!!  You will cut from that 12.2cm mark down to 27cm.  Move your card across to line up with the 8cm on your paper cutter.  Then cut your line on this side from 12.2cm down to 27cm.  The cut lines are shown on the template as the solid line.

Turn your card and on the 29.5cm, score at 2.5cm and 5cm only on the outside sections.  At the 14.7cm point score in the middle section only. At 17.2cm score on the outside sections only. Look at the template for a guide to help you.  The score lines are marked with the dotted lines.  A ‘v’ on the score line means a valley fold, an upside down ‘v’ is a mountain fold.

I hope this makes sense for you. 🙂  Any problems just ask!!

I have just finished another card using this fold that I will show you later.  It is so easy once you get the hang of it – really!!!

That’s it for me today.

Have a good weekend all,

WHERE HAVE I BEEN???

Wow!  It’s been over a week since I have been back here.  What a week it has been!!!  Between running around with banks as our credit card had been swiped last weekend, organising the rides for the school fete that was on yesterday and organising my own stall, I had a funeral to go to and my husband left his job. Also, Stampin’ Up! announced huge discounts to their clearance sale before the end of the catalogue finishes tomorrow and my phone has been running hot with orders.   Today I have been at the orthodontist for my daughter as she got her plate fitted on her mouth.  Apart from all that, I really have no excuse!

I thought I would come up for air for a minute and show you some more cards with retiring products.  It’s only 2 days until the new catalogue goes live.  How exciting!  These cards I did at a class a few months ago.  I am a bit behind, aren’t I???  These were for a Fun Folds class.  We did the Joy Fold card.  The tutorial to create this card can be found here.  I used the bright and funky “Pink Flamingo” DSP.  We used the direct to rubber technique with the markers to colour the tree from “Thoughts and Prayers”.  This was done twice and then a circle was punched with the 1 1/4″ circle punch from one  and then layered on a 1 3/8″ Pink Passion circle and then on a Gable Green scallop circle. This scallop was raised up with dimensionals to allow the flap to tuck.  Note:  Only add the dimensionals to one half so you can fit it under!!!!!  The edge of the white card was sponged with Pink Passion.

Here is the inside:

This time the tree image was inked up with the Pink Passion stamp pad and stamped onto whisper white.  The edges were sponged in Pink Passion again.  The greeting on the inside and outside was from the set “Teeny Tiny Sentiments”.

The 2nd card we did was the criss-cross card which can be found here.  This was another bright and funky card using the “Kaleidoscope” DSP.  For the inside card I cut a top note from Whisper White, added a tab using the circle tab punch.  I sponged the edges with Tempting Turquoise and the small flowers are from “Cottage Garden”.  On the front of the criss cross pocket I added a strip of Pink Passion, then crimped a strip of Tempting Turqoise.  The greeting is from the Hostess set “Best Yet”, then punched out using the circle punches and scallop circle.  These were layered and raised up with dimensionals.

Lots of retiring products on these cards.  I must run now.  I will be back in a few days with the new catalogue.  Whoo Hoo!  There are so many exciting new things in there.

Till next time, take care. xx
