5 WAYS WITH PAPER – DAY 1!

Do you love the gorgeous Stampin’ Up! paper?  It is so fantastic isn’t it.  We buy it, look at it, stroke it – and then file it away for a special occasion.  Do you do that?

We have a wonderful Paper sale on at the moment to buy 3 and get one free.  More of that gorgeous paper to file away.  Well, this week we are going to get that paper out and use it (I would like to write that last sentence in capitals but you might not like me yelling at you). Each day this week I will bring you a different way to use that paper.  Remember the hashtag from a few months ago when I shared ways to use paper #usethatpaper  Well, let’s get on with it again this week.  Who is in?

For today’s card I have used the gorgeous Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  It is not one available as the Buy 3 get one free promotion but it is so beautiful to use and probably one of those packs you have sitting there too special to use.

The idea for this card came from Jackie Bolhuis from klompenstampers.

This style of card works really well with beautiful prints on both sides of the paper.

HOW TO CUT YOUR PAPER

Firstly, cut your piece of Designer Series Paper just slightly smaller than your card base.  (Metric paper size would be 14.4cm x 10.1cm). The US card sizes are different to the South Pacific (and I think) Europe market, so I will just give you a general guide but if you cut your paper to about 1/8″ shorter on both sides to the front of your card base. Card base being 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ I think. On your short edge cut it vertically at the point about 2/3 the way across.  For metric measurements I cut it down at 7cm.

Take the Left hand strip, turn it 90′ anticlockwise and cut it approximately 2/3.  For metric, this was at 8.4cm.  Place it aside and it’s easier if you keep it in it’s position one above the other. Take your right hand strip that you had cut previously, turn it 90′ clockwise (so reverse direction) and cut it at 2/3.  For metric this would be at 8.4cm. Place it next to your previously cut pieces in their positions.

You should have 4 sections of different sizes.  With the bottom left piece flip that over.  For the top right piece flip that piece over. Adhere these pieces in position on your card base.

FINISH YOUR CARD

Decorate your card as you like. I had the decorative strip and the sentiment sitting on my desk from unused projects so it was good to be able to use these. The strip was cut with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper from the Petals and More Thinlits.  Shame you can’t see the sparkle from that. The sentiment is stamped with a greeting from Happy Birthday Gorgeous and cut with a Framelit from the Stitched Labels Framelits.  I cut the decorative circle one in Petal Pink which is from the Stitched Labels Framelits also. It is hard to see but I also cut a small circle from Vellum from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

Come back tomorrow and each day this week as I bring you a different way to use your paper.  Thanks for visiting me today,

Jenny

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #31 – DESIGNING THE PETAL PROMENADE DESIGNER SERIES PAPER!

I have a really fascinating video to share with you today for Wednesday’s WOW! #31.  I hear many people comment on the beautiful Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper. Not only is it really lovely thickness but the prints are usually so beautiful – on both sides! The dilemma is which side to choose some times!

I wonder if you have noticed though the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper?  It is really gorgeous paper.  The floral prints are actual photographs and then on the other side you have the lovely marble prints.

What do you think?

I have just come across a video of the design process to create this paper.  I think you will find it interesting.  I did anyway. 🙂

We do have some clever designers.   I had noticed it in the catalogue but I must admit, when I watched the video I had to go back and take another closer look.  I may just have to grab some of it too.

BTW: This is one of the paper packs that are on the Buy 3, Get one Free promotion for this month.  So even better.  Stop by in my store ->HEREto grab some.

SOFT PEACEFUL REFLECTION!

A few weeks ago I was playing around with the set Peaceful Reflection.  I share a z-fold card some time ago (if you missed it see it ->HERE)

Today’s card I had in my head and was pleased it turned out as I thought.

Some quick details on it:

The ripples are stamped in Versamark on Whisper White card and heat embossed in White.  Then sponged over with Pool Party ink to create an emboss resist effect.

The large waterlily is stamped on Vellum in Versamark and heat embossed in White and coloured with the Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blends.  It was then hand-cut around and adhered on to the white card.

The Dragonfly is stamped on Vellum and heat embossed in Copper powder.  Then coloured with the Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blends and hand-cut and adhered on to the card.

The sentiment is from the Petal Palette set and heat embossed in Copper.  It is cut with a label die from the Petals and More Thinlits.  I sponged around the edge with Pool Party ink.

The decorative strip is cut from Copper Foil with the die from the Petals and More Thinlits.

It was all adhered to a Pool Party card base.

I like the softness of how this card turned out.

Thanks for visiting.  I have more with this set that I will share later in the week.

SOME CARD LOVE!

I don’t often share personal things here on my blog as I don’t like to toot my horn but this is Stampin’ Up! related – and it is very exciting for me.

For those who follow me on Facebook and Instagram will know that recently I achieved a HUGE milestone.  It was a big goal and for the most part out of my control.  As a Demonstrator we can achieve different titles.  This one has alluded me for 3 years.  Although I had the team and the sales for some time I needed some other factors to come in to play. Anyway, last month I did it! I made Silver Elite.

It might not be big for you and you may not really care what the fuss is but for me this is big! Thank you to my customers and my team for helping me along the way – and for your support.  I received my certificate yesterday in the mail which was exciting.  Always good to receive Happy Mail. I also received some other Happy Mail this past week and that is what I wanted to share with you today.  I received 2 special cards.

The first one was from my Upline Vanessa.  This is using the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut paper that I have been sharing lately but this is one of the other patterns from the pack.

This card was a lovely surprise.  This is from one of my blog readers who has become a dear friend, Ruth.  It was even in my favourite colour too.  This is using the Love What You Do set with lots of lovely shiny silver embossed features.  Thanks so much Ruth x

Thanks for indulging me.  Thanks everyone for your love and support and visiting me often. ❤

See you again tomorrow.

FRIDAY FAVOURITES – FOR THE BOYS!

As we say Good-Bye to lots of favourites from this current catalogue we can’t forget the boys can we!  I think a lot of people have trouble creating cards for the men-folk.  Below are a few of my favourite sets that are great for them.

NB: The quality of these photos aren’t great.  I do apologise.  These were a few years ago and I hadn’t watermarked most of them either so do be kind.  But I hope it gives you some inspiration for your own projects.  And looking past the cards you might realise that you DO need these stamps in your collection. 🙂

GUY GREETINGS!

I can’t believe this one is going.  It has been around for a couple of years but it is a great manly set.  Here are some of the cards I have made with this set.  You can click on the link for more details.

This one was I made for swaps for a Stampin’ Up! event.  You can see the original post -> HERE.

Just after I made these cards I made a box which I realised matched perfectly.

You can see the details of the box -> HERE.  This would be a great set for the man in your life.

I loved how these cards turned out.  Simply adding the fun paper but you don’t need the fuss for boys.

You can see the post -> HERE.  This post has a few other cards for boys too.

Lots of fun images and sentiments in this set.  You can find this in my store HERE now. (Clear $61 AUS)

BADGES AND BANNERS

I think this set is overlooked.  It’s a great one for the boys.  It adds a fun sentiment to any cards and you can have the matching Badge punch to punch the shape out. (Edited: I see that the punch has already sold out!).

See the full post ->HERE.  I know the Nailed It set went last year and both these cards use this set but you could use any other set.

Details for this card below are -> HERE.

See the Badges and Banner set in store HERE  (Clear $33).

Below are just a couple more stamp sets that would be great for the boys – big and small.

SEASIDE SHORE

Blog Hops, cards, Stampin' Up!

KELLY’S STAMPING FRIENDS BIRTHDAY BLOGHOP!

Today we have a very special Blog Hop celebrating the lovely Kelly Kent’s Birthday.  She wanted to get some stamping friends together and share our creations with you.  How exciting! I have to say though it is a little overwhelming.  What to create …  It had to be a birthday card of course.

You would either be starting here on your hop or you have just come from Siobhan’s blog -> HERE.  So come and join the Birthday Hop.

Today I am sharing with you a Fun Fold card,  It’s a Pop Out Swing Card. I have made a few versions of this card (see one HERE), but this one is a teeny tiny version.  So cute!  It stand about 10cm (4″) high.  I have used the gorgeous new set available early this month, the Love What You Do stamp set and the Share What You Love Designer Series Paper.

Don’t forget a matching envelope for this card too.  Made easy with the Envelope Punch Board.

The beautiful paper and colours makes this a gorgeous project without too much to it.  That Rich Razzleberry Velvet ribbon is just so soft and gorgeous too.

The Frame on the front of the card is made with the Layering Squares Framelits.  The sentiment inside is from the Southern Serenade set.  The leaf stem on the inside is cut from Mossy Meadow cardstock using the Flourish Thinlits.

You can continue on the Birthday Blog Hop now and pop back again later to get the instructions link.  You will find the instructions for this card on Amanda’s blog -> HERE.
