CAROLS OF CHRISTMAS WEEK – DAY 1!

DAY 1

My first card for you uses the new Incolor Fresh Fig.  When I first started creating this card I felt the Fresh Fig was a big heavy but adding it to a Thick Whisper White base it lightened it slightly.

The sentiment is layered on to a Copper Foil Sheet mat cut with one of the large Scallop Square Dies from the Layering Square Framelits.  Before I adhered it to the Fresh Fig mat I wrapped around some Copper Thread around the card.  It is just a soft touch. 🙂  I also added some Copper Foil behind the Fresh Fig card at the top to see the Copper through the little cut outs of the moon and stars.

A tree was cut from the Copper Foil too and raised up with Dimensionals.

MORE 6″x6″ TREAT HOLDERS!

Yesterday I showed you some more Z-fold cards and they had little treat holders.  I thought I would share with you how to make those particular ones.

Firstly, the Dapper Denim Napkin fold.

These are one of the easiest, quickest treat holder you could possibly make.  I used to make them a lot when I was younger but had forgotten about them until recently.  They are a good size to fit a small chocolate treat in.  Here is how to make them.

Of course, you can make these any size you like.  The principal is the same.  Just be sure that your paper is square.

For this particular version I used the Color Theory paper stack in which the piece measures 6″x6″ (15.2cm x 15.2cm).

NAPKIN FOLD TREAT HOLDER

1. Fold your paper piece in half diagonally.

2.  With the fold towards you, take the left hand corner and fold it to about the mid point on the paper on the opposite side.  See the photo below to see what I mean.

3. Fold the right hand corner so it overlaps the last fold and for the point to reach the mid point on the opposite side.  Place a little adhesive behind the folds to help it stay closed.

4. Take the top point and fold just one layer down over the 2 folds. Place adhesive behind it to keep it closed.

Add a tag or embellishment as you like.  For this version, I used the Dapper Denim marker over just the “smile” word in one of the sentiments from the Colorful Seasons set.  Cut that with the Stitched Oval Framelits.  I stamped a few snowflakes on to the piece too and finished it off by cutting some “snowflake” embellishments from the Layered Seasons Thinlits.

OLD OLIVE MINI BOX

This little mini box is so cute.  You could fit a lipstick or lip balm in it or a small chocolate.  The finished size measures 7cm Wide (2 3/4″),  3.2cm Deep (1 1/4″) and 2.2cm Height (7/8″).

This was made with the Envelope Punch Board.  When I went back to find the tutorial for this I couldn’t seem to find it.  I am sure I used the one by my lovely friend Tanya HERE.  When I made it up again though it was slightly longer.  The tutorial at that link is a paid Tutorial for lots of different sized boxes with the Envelope Punch Board, but for $2 it is not a bad purchase. 🙂  Have a look on Pinterest though for a few other versions.  There are larger ones but I was in keeping with the 6″x6″ paper.

So here are the 4 little treat holders made just with a piece of 6″x6″ paper.  There are so many others too but it is amazing what you can make with such a small piece.

JUST A NOTE: If you want to see the tutorials for the Daffodil Delight bag Head -> HERE (Pootles blog) and for the Berry Burst Bag Head -> HERE.

Enjoy,

Jenny

STAMPIN’ DREAMS BLOG HOP – CASE THE CATALOGUE!

Today I am taking part in the Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop where the theme is CASE THE CATALOGUE.  I have to say first off I am a little excited to be a part of this Blog Hop, but I am a little daunted too. Have you seen the amazing line up in this Hop??  WOW!  How exciting to be a part of it! I hope you enjoy our little hop.

You would have just done a BIG jump from the US from the lovely Debbie Henderson’s blog HERE or just starting out on my blog.

Now CASE THE CATALOGUE.  Do you realise how many gorgeous projects are in this catalogue?  Where do you start?

I decided since I am focusing on Christmas in July this month I will CASE one from the Christmas section.  I chose the card in the top right on P 118.

This is my card.

I created the card on a Thick Whisper White base.  The Designer Series Paper is from the Delightful Daisy pack.  The colour in this pack is actually Old Olive but I think the Pear Pizzazz that I used goes well with the lighter colourings in the paper.  I used the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set and the Holly Berry Builder Punch. This is a great stamp set if you don’t like colouring.  It is a 2 step one so it has the outline and the solid stamp to in-fill.  Adds colour so easily.  🙂

To stamp the wreath it is easier if you draw a circle in pencil on to your card first.  I traced around one of the Layering Circle Framelits and then you can stamp up your image around it. It is easy to see being in Photopolymer. Then just erase your pencil circle out. You can add the red berries in after.

The sentiment is stamped on a Pear Pizzazz card strip and then I flagged the ends.  I stamped and punched out the holly and check out the large red berries.  I am not sure if you can see in the photo below but I went over the berries with the Fine Tip Adhesive and left it to dry.  This adds a little shine to your berries.

The catalogue is a great resource for inspiration.  I always forget to look at it when I am stuck. What about you?  We should turn to it more often. 🙂

Now to continue the Hop you are off to Carolina’s blog HERE. Thanks for visiting me.

A GRUNGE 21ST BIRTHDAY CARD!

It’s my gorgeous boy’s 21st Birthday today. It’s crazy to think it is here. I have been feeling a little emotional this past week. It seems not that long ago he was a preschooler.  I am  proud of him but also very Thankful for the young man he is but still I don’t like it when they seem to grow up way too quickly. 😦

Anyway, I thought you might like to see the card I made him. This is with a retired set Grunge Rock. It’s a great set for those boys cards.

The numbers from the Large Numbers Thinlits were cut from Copper Foil Sheets.  The card mat and some stamping is Dapper Denim. The background dots are from Timeless Textures set and stamped in Soft Suede. This colour is a good match with the Copper.

The circle image is stamped in Soft Suede on scrap white card and punched out with the 1 3/8″ circle punch. It is raised up with Dimensionals after I added a few loops of Copper thread.

Although this is a retired set perhaps it would give you some inspiration for those masculine cards you need to do.

Thanks for looking,

Jenny
