WISHING YOU WELL CHRISTMAS!

Yesterday I shared a card using the Wishing You Well set.  When I made that one I made a similar Christmas version.  It shows just how versatile this set is.  The layout is exactly the same as yesterday’s version with just a couple of changes.  Head back to the post to see it if you missed it.

This is the Christmas version.

For this one, the base is Shaded Spruce and the wreath is stamped in Shaded Spruce.  I am really liking this colour lately.  It’s a great green for traditional Christmas cards.  The bow was stamped on scrap white and cut out separately – with scissors – no punches or dies available. 🙂  The bow was raised up with Dimensionals.  The “spots” from Timeless Textures were stamped in Smoky Slate this time.  The strip of paper is from Under The Mistletoe Designer Series Paper available in the Annual Catalogue.  The sentiment from the Wishing You Well stamp set fits nicely in the Stitched Labels Framelits.  I layered the white stamped and diecut piece on to a Shaded Spruce one.  TIP: to do this diecut a Shaded Spruce one, cut it in half vertically and separate the piece as you layer it under the white one.  I added some Red Rhinestones to finish the card off.

I hope you like this version. Christmas is coming up way too quickly don’t you reckon??  3 months today.

Have a great day,

Jenny

WISHING YOU WELL MAKE AND TAKE!

Since I am sharing cards with the Wishing You Well set lately I thought I should show you this one.  This card was one of the cards we made at my Holiday Catalogue Launch a few weeks ago.  Everyone liked making this card even though it is fairly simple.  We made this on the weekend at a private class too.  They all liked it there also. 🙂  (BTW: If you can’t make a class you can book a Private class with me with a couple of friends. They are always a fun time).

The layout is based on the Freshly Made Sketches #352 – you can see that here.

There was the option to stamp the bow on scrap white paper and cut it out (no Framelits or punch for that sorry!).  This was raised up with Dimensionals and that looked good too. The strip of paper is from the Country Lane Designer Series Paper.  The sentiment stamped on Crushed Curry was cut with the Bunch of Banners Framelits and we trimmed off one of the ends of the banner. We added a few loops of Silver Thread behind it.  To add some colour to the white space the “dots” from Timeless Textures was stamped in several places in Mint Macaron.

I made another similar card to this in Christmas colours.  Check that out in tomorrow’s post.

Thanks for stopping by today,

Jenny

LEMON LIME GRAPE BOWS!

Just a quick card for this Sunday night.  A few days ago I shared a card with my new favourite colour combination with the Wishing You Well set.  Today I have another with those colours of Lemon Lime Twist and Gorgeous Grape.

This is a Mini card 10cm x10cm (4″ x 4″) and they are very quick to make.  Great for sending out little notes or with gifts.  I lined the bows up by sight.  You could use the Stamparatus and I did start doing that but the spacing wasn’t working out right.  The sentiment was stamped in Gorgeous Grape on Lemon Lime card and cut with the Farmhouse Framelits Dies.  I added a few loops of Silver Thread on the back of it and raised it up with Dimensionals.

Hope you like these quick cards.  Have a great week.

STAMPIN’ DREAMS BLOG HOP – FAVOURITE TECHNIQUE – SALT BACKGROUND!

I am joining in with the Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop this month and we are sharing Favourite Techniques.  I always love to try different techniques.  Before we start you might be starting here or you have just come from Jenny Hall’s Blog -> HERE.

As for my Favourite Technique.  That’s a hard one to choose one.  What I am sharing though today is a technique that I have wanted to try for a very long time so it was a good chance to play with it to create some, hopefully fun cards with you.

The technique I am sharing with you is the Salt Background Technique.  Have you tried this before?

Using the salt on a wet background creates a type of “bleaching” of dots on your card as the card dries.  I will show you the cards and then show you how to create your own.  (You might want to continue to Blog Hop and stop by again later to take in all the details).

HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN SALT BACKGROUND

For this technique you can use any type of salt but the result will differ.  The larger Rock Salt will result in larger “bleached” patterns (like the first example above) whereas the regular fine Table Salt will give a speckled type of “bleached” pattern, (like the 2nd example).

As you need to add water to your card you will need a good quality card to take the water. Either the Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Paper or the Shimmer Paper works very well.

NB: The steps below are for the first card sample above.

1. Wash over your card with the Aquapainter and water.  Add drops of chosen reinker colour(s) over your card.

For this sample below I added drops of Pumpkin Pie Reinker first over different areas on the card.

I added other colours too.  Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay.

2. Using the Aquapainter wash over the colours to spread it over the card.  Try not to mix the colours too much though. It does look a bit messy.  The colours lighten as they dry too. Each time you do it, it will work out different.  You can just use one colour reinker too as I did in the Night of Navy card.

While the card is still wet sprinkle over your salt.  I forgot to take a photo of this sample with the salt on it but I will show a different card below.

3.  Allow the card to dry. You could use the Heat Tool but I found it just spread the colours more which I didn’t want so leave the card for several hours or even overnight.

Once it is dried lightly brush off the salt.  You will see little “bleached” spots where the salt was.  It is a great effect and you can use that directly on your cards.

Here is a different sample in Rich Razzleberry showing the salt over the card.  I will share the finished card for this one at a later time.  For these cards I used the Rock Salt which are larger grains of salt.

For this Night Of Navy one below I used the finer Table Salt. Which I didn’t take a photo of at the time. I did add a lot more salt to the card too. I like this effect how it turned out.

I will say my hands were very inky by the time I finished with all the different colours.  But that’s part of the fun. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by.  Now you are off on the next blog and can see what technique they have to share with you today.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #40 – DOUBLE EMBOSSING YOUR CARD!

Wednesday’s WOW! #40 today.  Who knew there were so many tips and tricks to share with you.

Today’s WOW! is something I came across in my blog travels recently.  I read it on Pinterest but didn’t save the idea.  Only stored it in my head as something to try so it is not my original idea but I think it is certainly worthwhile sharing with you.

It’s a cool technique that really adds to your embossing on your cards.  It is double embossing, using 2 Embossing Folders to create great texture on your card.

See it here.

For this technique it works with one Embossing Folder that is a little more finer detail.  The Subtle Embossing Folder or even the Softly Falling one works well.  The second Embossing Folder needs to have a little more open design.  The Tufted Embossing Folder works great.

The first example above I used the Subtle Embossing Folder and the Petal Burst Embossing Folder.

The second example I used the Subtle Embossing Folder and the Tufted Embossing Folder.

This one below I tried 2 different folders.

Softly Falling Embossing Folder with the Petal Bust Folder on the left and the Swirls and Curls Embossing Folder.

THE HOW-TO

For this to work well firstly emboss the card with the finer detail one, then emboss the card with your second more open design folder.  If you emboss it the other way around you will find that the embossing with the more open design is squashed when you emboss it with the finer one.

Here are the finished cards with the 2 samples.

Hope you find this helpful and try it on your projects.

GORGEOUS GRAPE AND LEMON LIME TWIST – WHAT A COMBINATION!

I have been using the Wishing You Well set  lately and it is one we used at my Holiday Catalogue Launch last weekend.  I made a few samples which I will show you over the next few days.

When making these cards I discovered a new Colour combination which is becoming a favourite. I have seen these 2 colours paired together quite a bit over the internet recently and I just had to try it myself.  How bright and fresh are these 2 colours, Lemon Lime Twist and Gorgeous Grape.

The Gorgeous Grape card is embossed with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder (which I think I adhered wrong again!).  This Wishing You Well set is one of the Distinktive style sets.  This means it gives different opacities to the stamped image creating depth to your image.  It gives a very effective result without too much stamping.

I simply stamped the leafy stem once with the Lemon Lime Twist onto white card.  This was then cut with one of the Layering Oval Framelits.  I could have layered the oval on to a different piece of card but instead I sponged around the edge of the oval.  The sentiment was stamped on Lemon Lime Twist card and cut with a Framelit from the Farmhouse Framelits Dies.  I wrapped some Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon around the Gorgeous Grape card before assembling it to the base card.

It’s a quick card to put together.  Watch for more cards with this combination.  Why not try it yourself??

This is the Wishing You Well set if you haven’t noticed it in the Holiday Catalogue.  For $33 AUS for clear mount it is pretty good value and is a great set for any occasion, Thinking of you cards, sympathy, birthday and Christmas.  It covers all bases I think. 🙂

Have a great day,

Jenny

DETAILED DEER GLIMMER!

I have another card using the Detailed Deer Thinlits.  This card was another from out Shoebox Swap in our Team Stamp Day a few weeks ago.

This card was created and shared to us by Vanessa Webb.  Isn’t it an elegant one??

Detailed Deer Glimmer

The sentiment is from the Merry Christmas To All Bundle.  What about those Galvanised Buttons?  They have a country/rustic feel. The red trim on his neck is from the Suite Season Specialty Washi Tape.

I haven’t paid too much attention to the Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon which you can find on page 49 of the Holiday Catalogue. We don’t create for Halloween or Thanksgiving here so we tend not to focus on the later half of the catalogue.  This ribbon is really lovely though.  It is so soft – and very sparkly.  It works well for an elegant Christmas card too.  I may have actually bought some since making this card.  It is one of the ribbons in my Ribbon Share too. I just had to add it. (You can head back a few posts to see about that or you can email me to join in at jghayward@yahoo.com)

The background on this card is Merry Merlot cardstock that has been embossed with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder.  I rubbed over the card very lightly with some White Shimmer Paint with a Sponge Dauber.  It is just a subtle effect.  A scalloped Vellum Oval was adhered under the Reindeer too to finish.

Hope you like it.  Thanks for visiting me.  I have people from all over the world visiting me here.  It’s so lovely that the internet can join us together in our love of crafting.  Why not say Hello in a comment and let me know where you are visiting from.

FOLD FLAT CHRISTMAS CARD WITH DETAILED DEER!

Today’s card is one we made at our Team Stamp Day a few weeks back.  I am just getting to show you now.  This card has a few different names but I call it the Fold Flat card.

This is the front view.

Fold Flat _ Front view

This is it side on.  It can fold flat to be able to send it in an envelope.

Fold Front _ side view

With the paper, the check pattern one on the front is from the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Catalogue.  The “bauble” one is from the Under The Mistletoe Designer Series Paper from the Annual Catalogue.  The Detailed Deer Thinlits are cut from the Gold Glimmer Paper, Gold Foil and Sparkle Glimmer Paper. The sentiment is from the Flourish Filigree.

I can’t remember now who shared this card for our Shoebox Swap at the Team Stamp Day.  I am not sure where she got the tutorial to make this one but I have made them before and shared the tutorial for it on my blog some time ago.

Fold Flat Card Tutorial in Large and standard size: Head -> HERE.

I hope you like them.  They have been popular on my blog since I orginally posted it so now you have another version.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great weekend,
