WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #164 – MASK A BACKGROUND ~

Wednesday’s WOW! #164 – Creating a masked background.

Here’s a technique for you to try sometime. You can create a masked frame and add colour to the centre area.

To do this use the Masking Paper to add strips around the edge of your card leaving a rectangle or square shape in the middle. Using the Brayer or the Blending Brushes roll (or brush) over your ink. Try different colours to create a coloured background.

Once you are done gently remove the masking paper and stamp over your images. Stamping them in black ink will really highlight them against the background. Then it is a matter of adding a simple greeting.

Hope you get to try this out in your crafting soon.

Happy Crafting,

Jenny

BATIK STYLE WITH LEAF COLLECTION FOR CI 169

I had a little play over the weekend just for me. I checked out the Colour Inkspirations Challenge and created along with the colours for this week.

The CI 169 colours for this week were: Basic Beige, Blueberry Bushel, Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy.

I had the Leaf Collection stamp out from other creating so thought I would try these colours with this stamp. This is the result.

I used the Emboss Resist Technique and then sponged over the different colours in different areas over the white card. It gives it a Batik style to the look.

To do this technique – Ink up the stamp in Versamark. Press the stamp on to the card and pour over the Clear Embossing Powder. Heat to melt the powder. Then with the Blending Brushes rub over ink in different parts. You will get some ink on the Embossed areas but that’s ok. Wipe off the excess ink with a tissue.

Heat Embossing is one of my favourite techniques.

You can join in with this colour challenge. Head to the Facebook group there. If you are not already a member then request to join. Then add your projects too. There is a different colour challenge every 2 weeks.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #163 – TRY A WATERCOLOUR WASH ON YOUR IMAGES

Wednesday’s WOW! #163 – A Watercolour Wash on your images.

You might have tried Watercolour Washing over your card to create a background, but have you tried giving your stamped images a wash? It creates a really soft look.

Stamp your image on to Watercolour Paper. This one uses the Painted Lavender stamp set. Spritz over the image lightly with water. Allow to dry for a short time. Then stamp over the washed area again with the same image. You will get a mottled look with a wash in the background. It looks really lovely.

Hope you get to try it out. I have added this image below so you can save it to try later.

NEW STAMPIN’ UP! CHANGING LEAVES BUNDLE!

We have been talking Online Exclusives. There is another great new Bundle. This one is the Changing Leaves Bundle.

This bundle consists of the Changing Leaves Stamp set, the Dies and the Hybrid Embossing Folder.

The Changing Leaves Stamp set has some lovely sentiments in it. The leaf images give a skeleton detail. The dies will diecut the leaves and there are additional leaves and little sentiment shapes.

The dies can also work with the Embossing Folder. It is a Hybrid folder which means the dies fit the leaf shape that are in the pattern. Run your card piece through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, and out come die-cut, embossed accents. You can also use the embossing folder without the dies for embossing large pieces or use the dies alone to cut out solid, flat leaves and labels.

It is a great bundle for cards for any occasion but especially those ‘Thinking of You’ and ‘You are special’ type cards with those sentiments.

Let’s check some ideas for this. These are created by Stampin’ Up! Artists.

This one the images are stamped and simply diecut. The White card mat has been embossed with the Embossing Folder.

For this one it appears the card has been given a watercolour wash and then the card embossed and diecut.

You can see the Changing Leaves Bundle in my store -> HERE.

You can view all the great new Online Exclusives Products there too.

If you are in Australia and would love these for your crafting or any of the other amazing products you can stop by my store at the above link

NEW FROSTED FOREST FROM STAMPIN’ UP!

New products are arriving Online from tomorrow (July 3rd). I will bring you more news about those later but today I wanted to show you a card I made recently with one of these new bundles. This is with the Frosted Forest Bundle.

The Frosted Forest Bundle comes with a stamp set, dies and masks. The stamp set has a number of different trees, great for any occasion. The masks have 2-3 masks for each tree so you can layer the colours on the image. I like that because I’m not a huge fan of colouring.

I will show you the bundle more later but for now I couldn’t wait to share the card. I used Pecan Pie for the trunk and Old Olive for the tree. Using the different layers added to the depth of the tree branches.

With the sentiment I added a sticky note over the full sentiment and just showed the Thinking of You on a small strip of Crushed Curry. Then I snipped the sentiment in half to separate it for the card.

Watch out from tomorrow for more products released as part of the Online Exclusives. There are a number of products for different occasions including Christmas. Great if you are planning some Christmas in July creating. Or to get started for your Christmas cards now. So check back soon.

If you love any of the Stampin’ Up! products and you are in Australia I would love you to stop by my store -> HERE. You can order Online. Please use the Host Code: JTRANKN3
