WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #101- CREATING DEPTH WITH COLOURED IMAGES!

Wednesday’s WOW #101.  Today I wanted to show you a little tip with colouring your images and how to create depth.

Firstly though.  Last Wednesday I had a little Giveaway.  Congratulations to Lynne C for winning the Little Ladybug Stamp set.  I will be in touch with you soon.

Back to our WOW!

I recently created this card with the retiring Accented Blooms set.  I wanted to give this a little ink up one more time before it retires.  It’s been a while since I have played with it.

I coloured it with the Stampin’ Blends.  I cut the white card with the Stitched Rectangles Dies But I added a little “new” with the Ornate Layers Dies by cutting the Calypso Coral card mat.

But this is what I wanted to show you.  You can give the appearance of depth to your image in a very simple way. Take a closer look below.

When I finished colouring I outlined the image with a lighter colour Stampin’ Blends.  This one I used the Light Pool Party.  I have used Light Smoky Slate at times too and even Petal Pink.  It just depends on the look you want.

I hope you try that trick next time you colour your images.

Thanks for visiting me.

Have an awesome day wherever you are.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE DURING THIS TIME!

It’s certainly been crazy times hasn’t it?? As cardmakers we have a great gift to share love and encouragement and support to others by sending handmade cards.

Stampin’ Up! Have put together a Digital Download with some great sentiments that you can add to your cards for that extra special touch.  There are some fun expressions too that we can all relate to with what we have been going through.

The added bonus with this Download is that 100% of the profits is donated to charities.

The Download contains 15 pages of sentiments.  You can print them off and add them to your cards.

It is $12 US (approximately $20 AUD).

Head to this page and place your order.

Head -> HERE.

Once your order is placed the link is emailed out to you. You can then print and stick them on your cards.

Below are just some of the samples of the sentiments available in the Download.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #100 – USING YOUR DIECUTS AS STENCILS – AND A GIVEAWAY!

Wednesday’s WOW! #100.  Woo Hoo! Who would have thought a couple of  years ago when I started this series that I would have 100 tips, techniques, product videos to share with you.  Number 100 is pretty amazing.  I think. 🙂

Today I have a special technique for you.  And to celebrate 100 WOW’s I thought it would be time for a Giveaway.  Check below after you see the fun technique.

For our Wednesday’s WOW! #100 I wanted to share a cool technique of using your Diecuts to create stencils.   It’s not a new technique BUT might not be one you think about readily.

I was inspired of this idea when I saw a project on a Demonstrator Facebook group I am on and I’m sorry I can’t remember the Demonstrators name.

I have used the Ornate Borders Dies and the Ornate Frames Dies to create these particular cards but you could use any detailed dies.

For this first card I have used the decorative flower border die from the Ornate Frames Dies.  Diecut this on a piece of white card.  Then use this card piece as a stencil to colour on to a different white card strip.

So for this one below you may not be able to see it but I have the other white card strip which is the same size as the diecut strip, so I could line them up and be sure it was straight.

I have used the Watercolor Pencils but not used them with the Aquapainter.  You could use Stampin’ Blends or a Blender Pen and inkpads.

This was the finished coloured strip.

To finish the card I used some of the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.  The Twine is from the Nature’s Twine set.  It is Grapefruit Grove but I think it worked OK with the Calypso Coral on the card.

The vellum “leafy” spray and the bird is from the Well Written Dies.

On this next card I used the dies in a different way.  I diecut the “flourish” type die in the Ornate Frames Dies from white card and then used that as a stencil to heat emboss.

To do this line up the diecut strip on your white card mat.  Press the Versamark ink over the diecut being careful not getting Versamark above the strip on to your main card.  You can add some scrap paper to mask it to protect the card if you like.

After using the Versamark, remove your stencil strip.  Sprinkle over Silver Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.  You have a nice shiny image.

Below is the finished card in more detail.

For the finished card I used the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper.  The Hello Fabulous from the Dressed To Impress stamp set and cut with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  The Mint Macaron piece is also diecut with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and embossed with the Swirls and Curls Embossing Folder.

ORNATE THANKS CARD WITH FANCY SENTIMENT!

Another card for you today with the Ornate Thanks stamp set and the Ornate Borders Dies.

The stripe paper is from the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper (DSP).

TIP: Adhere the flowery border behind the piece of DSP and then on to the white card before trimming.  Then you can trim it to size neatly.

The white card is embossed with the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder for some texture.

If you take a look at the sentiment box.  The white card with the heat embossed sentiment is diecut with the stitched rectangle from the Ornate Layers Dies.  Check the ends though??  I diecut part of one of the frames from the Ornate Layers Dies from Silver Foil and then adhered it then behind the sentiment box for a little fancy edge.  Try it yourself.  🙂

What do you love most in the Ornate Garden Suite? I’m sure you know by now how much I love the dies. 😀

I hope you are doing ok in your part of the world. Keep safe.

PAPER ADVENTURES TEAM BLOG HOP – APRIL 2020!

I’m so honoured to be hopping along as a Guest with Kelly Kent and the Paper Adventures Team today.  Such a creative group of people. 🙂

The Blog Hop this month is a colour Theme with Pretty Peacock, Whisper White and Melon Mambo.  I love both these colours but have to say haven’t used these colours together.  So I wasn’t sure what I would do with them.

This is the card I have created.  I think we are all dreaming of a tropical paradise right now. 🙂

I have used the Timeless Tropical Bundle for this card.  The card was based on a recent Fab Friday sketch #187.

The frangipani flowers are stamped in Memento Black Ink on to Shimmery White card.  I took the liberty to use this card for the watercolouring. 🙂  The flowers were coloured with the ink pad and the Aquapainter.

The Pretty Peacock card piece was cut with one of the Stitched Nested Dies and then embossed with the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder.

When I was assembling the card I felt the white card was a bit plain.   I lightly swiped over some ink with the Aquapainter and Melon Mambo Ink.  I would suggest you use the Shimmery White for this or even Watercolour paper.  The Whisper White “pills” up a bit.  It was risky but I thought I might be stretching it to use the Shimmery White for that.  It turned out ok but then it is partly covered. 🙂

Now continue on your Blog Hop.  You are off to Siobhan’s blog -> HERE or click on the NEXT button below.

Thanks for hopping with me and the Paper Adventures Team.

BEST DRESSED THANKS!

I have had this card to show you for some time now.  It’s about time I share it with you.

As I have mentioned previously I presented at Onstage in November with the Best Dressed Suite.  I made this card for Clare from the Stampin’ Up! office in Sydney to Thank her for firstly asking me to present, but also to believe in me and cheering me on during the weeks of preparations and rehearsals at Onstage.  It was an amazing opportunity and I was very Thankful to have had that experience.

Just a few details on the card.  The sentiment label is cut with the Stitched Labels Dies and the Stitched Shapes Dies.  The sentiment is from the Love What You Do stamp set.  The shoes from the Dressed To Impress Stamp set were coloured with the Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends. The perfume bottle and the flower are cut from the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper.

This is a sweet set and I have just dragged it out to play with it again over the last couple of weeks so it was fun to be using it again.

Thanks for visiting me today.  Have a great week.  Keep on creating in these crazy times.

ORNATE THANK YOU CARD!

This was the first card I made with the new Ornate Garden Suite of products.  The dies are just so detailed – and gorgeous.  Have I said that before today?? 😉

The floral edge is so pretty.  The sentiment from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set is heat embossed in Silver Embossing Powder.  This sentiment piece is diecut with one of the Ornate Layers Dies.

See those little stems sticking out from under the edge of the sentiment piece?  These are extra little diecut pieces cut from the floral border die that I have used on this card. Don’t throw them out.  They are such great additions to your card.

I finished the card off with a little White ribbon bow.

This is the Ornate Thanks Bundle below.  You can get either the stamp set or the die set on their own too.

There are lots of lovely delicate Diecuts in the Ornate Borders Dies.  I think  you these are a great addition to your collection.  You will certainly use them a lot!

Have a happy, sunshiny day wherever you are.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #99 – ORNATE LAYERS DIES + STITCHED RECTANGLES DIES!

Wednesday’s WOW! #99 (Can you believe we are that far!).  Today I wanted to show a little discovery I have made.  Maybe you have noticed already.  I have been using the new Ornate Layers Dies a lot lately and I discovered that some of the Stitched Rectangles Dies fit with these new Ornate Layers Dies.

Check them out.

There are 3 different rectangles that fit the Ornate Layers Dies.  How cool is that! You can layer them up.  The stitching that you would get on the white card mats from the Stitched Rectangles Dies will give you that extra texture for your cards.

So if you have got the Stitched Rectangles Dies already be sure to pull them out when you get the Ornate Layers Dies and layer them up.

Have fun creating with them.

Next WOW! is our BIG #100.  I might just have to have a Giveaway for this milestone.

What would you like to see me show you? Drop me a comment to let me know.

See you again soon,

Jenny
